Absolute lifesaver for feeding bub
I needed to express in the early days of giving birth to stimulate milk supply. The things I love about it is that is gentle on my boobs, makes very little noise, is portable so I take it to and from my room and can pump in front of the tv to keep me entertained and the parts are easy to assemble and easy to wash. I like the massage function too which stimulates my letdown so I can get more milk out for baby. I think the slightly higher cost for the ability to pump without plugging in is very worth it, and overall the pump is fantastic value fo...r money considering how much it costs to hire one! In addition, the ability to double pump has saved me so much time. I now sit and pump on both sides at the same time for 10-15 minutes and I’m done – it’s super easy. The only things I think are potential ‘cons’ are that the plastic tubes seem to come away from the backflow protector sometimes, but that might be because I carry it around so much around the house, but I just plug them back in and they don’t impact on performance whatsoever. Also double pumping is a bit tricky – I have to really sit there and hold them both up and tilt a bit forward so the milk goes into the collection bottles, but that’s just getting used to, and 10-15 minutes of my time to sit and zone out while pumping really isn’t a huge issue. Overall really great product and one of the best things I have bought for bub – it allows my hubby to feed baby once in a while too and give mummy a break. It's great value too when you consider how much it costs to rent a pump. Highly recommended!!
I love the Spectra S1 double pump. Its easy to use and easy to clean. The built in battery makes it easy to use when your out and about, the best feature by fare!
It is comfortable to use with lots of speed settings. Would highly recommended purchasing the spectra pump!
This saved me
I have used other hospital-grade breast pumps before, including Medela and Ameda, and just thought pumping was awkward and clunky with no way around it. Until I tried the Spectra S1... life changing! I pumped A LOT with both my kids, with almost every feed for around the first 6 months, so a good breast pump made all the difference to me. It's easy to move around with, so I can pump while watching TV, easily take it to the bedroom to use during the night... no unplugging from the wall every time. It only needed a recharge about once a week. And...it has a night light! In addition to the excellence of the product, Spectra's customer service was top notch. They are super easy to reach, and are experts in using the pumps themselves, so they understand how vital it is to have a reliable, working pump available. I highly recommend this breast pump to any mum who relies on frequent pumping.
Excellent item for any breastfeeding Mum!
I decided to buy an electric pump to replace my manual hand pump and it was the best decision I made post pregnancy. The pump itself is rechargeable which was one of the biggest reasons I bought it, for portability when I returned to work. You can double pump, change the speed and suction settings and it even had a light for night time pumping. There’s even a deep spot to sit your bottle in once you’ve finished. No issues with this product at all but just make sure you have the tube fully connected with no air intake otherwise it won’t suction properly.
Does not suit me
First of all, I want to give credit to Spectra customer service. They reply to your enquiries very promptly.
For the pump itself, I love the rechargeable feature. You can carry it anywhere in the house without worrying about power plug. And I only charged it once a day. The tubing should be longer. I find that often times it came off from the backflow protector. For me, the suction level was too strong for level 2 but level 1 was too low for getting milk output effectively so I stayed at level 2 even though it gave me some pain. This could be ...
So much more comfortable than the hospital grade one they loan out from the hospital. Much more affordable than anything else. I had significant issues with supply due to bub's tongue tie, and this machine was the turning point for me. They're customer service is also excellent. Don't even bother with that competitor whose name starts with a 'M'.
Quick and easy!
I was a bit skeptical spending more than I wanted to on a breast pump but I'm so glad I did!
I almost bought the s2 because I thought the built in battery in the s1 wouldn't be necessary but I am so relieved that I went with the s1, the built in battery is a life saver! I love that I can go anywhere and pump without having to cart around messy, tangling cords.
All of the parts are quick and easy to clean and it pumps a lot quicker than other brands
Best pump on the market!
i had a special care bub and never got to properly breast feed. I had low supply and had to pump
Exclusively and this pump was a lifesaver. I tried several other hospital grade pumps and none stimulated my like the spectra. I pumped 8 times a day for 9 months and by using this pump and a hands free pumping bra I was able to pump whilst doing the dishes/ironing/cooking... I wasn’t confined to the couch next to a wall outlet thanks to its rechargeable battery. I was also able to continue pumping when we lost power for 12 hours. When we went out ...
I bought these because of the rave reviews. It does the job and is good value for money. However i found that the suction was not the best if you're looking for something a bit stronger to extract more milk. It was very gentle though & helped me get through the stages where everything hurt from breastfeeding.
This pump is amazing. I can not fault it at all. It's easy to use, easy to clean, gentle and comfortable. The let down mode is fantastic and if I ever needed a pump again (I won't I am done with babies haha) I would definitely buy another spectra S2/1
Does what it says, well
It's different from the hosiptal meleda bump, but after getting uesed to it, it's a really good one. with different strenth level, and night light. It's timer saver and when it was used when there were issues with nipples and it can be taken to work as well. I would recommend this product.
I had so many troubles with breastfeeding, before I got this machine. I was using a different pump, which we will not mention - but it's the most popular one on the market. I would barely get 60ml in 90 minutes. When I got my S1, I was getting 100ml in just 10 minutes! this pump saved my breast feeding journey! At the end of the day, I pump my breasts empty and avoid getting blocked ducts, which I was getting a lot of. And this is fed to baby for his last feed of the day. Any left over is frozen, for emergencies. I used to be excited to have 100ml for emergencies - now I have about 4 litres!! love my spectra, couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Works really well. Not painful
I have used this for three weeks and it's relatively quiet and not painful. I've only used the hospital medela and I think this is quite comparable and much cheaper. The customer service on Facebook is also very responsive. Parts are easy to clean. Recommend to all mums to be!
A life saver
My baby refused to latch on in the early days but ideas determined to breastfeed, so I began exclusively pumping. This pump is great. It is so quiet compared to others. It is easy to use and the Spectra customer service is amazing. Be sure that you measure and get the correct size breast shield as this will impact on your output. The only negative is the size of the pump compared to others on the market. But would still have this over any other.
Saved me from giving up breastfeeding
Excellent product! Extremely quiet and effective. Long battery life. Easy to take parts apart for sterilization. Helped so much while nipples were healing in the beginning. Stylish, great quality. Will not disappoint. Looking back, this saved me from giving up breast feeding. Must have item for every mum! Thank you.
This is so so so much better than the market “leader”. Customer service was also very prompt and I couldn’t recommend this enough to others. My supply was steady and in fat, increased with use of this. I only regret not using it on the onset and waiting so long to switch. The nightlight function was useful but the glow was just a little strange for me. This version is more expensive cos of portability but I can imagine not needing to use it on the go and therefore using the other version.
Thank goodness for this pump
I was looking for a pump that was efficient, gentle, affordable and mobile. Though it is slightly bulkier than ones like the madela swing... it works SO WELL and it still easy to cart around. Once charged, you can put it anywhere and not have to be plugged into the wall. Love the massage setting. And the night light. Oh and SO EASY TO KEEP CLEAN! no milk passes through the machine so hygiene is guaranteed. Id rate it a 10 if it went that high.
Very good but battery needs charging a lot and I have to use Medals parts
Very good pump with many different settings. however I have to use Medela breastshields as the Spectra ones just aren't as comfortable. I have had this pump for a few years now and the battery just isn't holding up as well and I find I have to charge it more now...otherwise it's a very reliable pump.
Mothers life saver
I love this product. Double pump breastpump. Chargeable too! It has a soothing warm lighting while pumping in the night. Strong suction although I usually use it on massage mode. Comes with two bottle of 150ml each. Easy to clean easy to use good customer service. The downside of this product is it has only one bottle holder.
I used so many kinds of breastpumps and none really worked for me until i tried spectra! It really is a life saver, the suction is really good, it really encouraged me to continue with my breastfeeding for months. It is easy to clean and i really liked its performance. I strongly recommend this breastpump. It is quite expensive but it is so worth it.
This has been an amazing investment. I pump every other day and have used it since I had my son in June 2015 woth a short break between kids. The suction is amazing and I get so much milk each pump. It is so easy to clean and spectra are great to deal with shipping extremely fast!
Great value for an efficient hospital grade pump that most I have talked to rate as better than the more expensive (yellow...) brands. The battery option really is worth it compared to the S2, especially to use at work. Wait for the sales and buy extra flange sets if pumping daily so it isn’t a rush to wash and dry them each night. Flanges are conveniently dishwasher safe.
It is worth the money!
It is comfortable to use if you get the right size breast shields, it has a built in rechargeable battery. It is so easy to clean and mould can’t get in the system, I would use the product again if I need it in the future. It also comes with a built in light, I would recommend to anyone!
Very good quality & Value for money
We purchased it recently with our first one. First one arrived was faulty & was making clock ticking sound. Online support is very good and can answer you in 1 hour or so. They send replacement immediately & let me keep the kit came with previous faulty one. I am happy in terms of it's performance, low noise, great suction.
Cannot live without it! Gentle, efficient and comes with batteries! Still powering on 2 years later.
I cannot recommend this pump highly enough. I exclusively pumped for 9.5 months and this was my best friend. I originally purchased the S2 which does not come with a battery and it was a nightmare finding places with a powerpoint when I needed to pump. I remember pulling off during a long road trip and going to a local hospital to beg for a powerpoint. I bought the S1 after this incident.
I've owned this pump for nearly 2 years and it's still working great. It's really easy to use, very gentle and highly efficient. I love the night light fun...ction and the fact that it's a double and can be worn under a pumping bra meant I could carry it anywhere I went around the house and pump - when you're pumping up to 8 times a day, you don't want to be tied to a powerpoint. For mums who are breastfeeding and just using it on the odd occasion, the cheaper S2 without the batteries is probably enough.
Questions & Answers
Help my spectra pump has turned on but now none of the buttons will work to switch between modes, increase suction or even turn it off.
Just had the same problem! Did you find any resolution?
I was pumping and all of a sudden the Spectra turns off! I tried to turn it back on and the screen turns in but there’s no suction or pumping sounds from the pump. After a few seconds, it shuts off.
