Made to measure by Spotlight
I ordered curtains from Spotlight "Made to Measure" a service they offer. At the time of ordering I was told it would take 6 weeks. I have contacted them a couple of times and have been told now they could take up to 4 months and counting. This seems to be reasonable/acceptable timeframe quoting that the service that orders the material had run out. I would have thought before accepting a deposit/and a quote from myself this would have been checked. I have been offered my deposit back or another material. Neither is what I want or agreed on w...hen I paid the deposit. At no time was I told this could happen prior to ordering them. The processes don't line up with what the expectation is from the customer not being told prior to the quote/measuring/ordering them. I find this totally unacceptable.
Need a revamp! Better procedures and customer service
Is it just me or Spotlight is just so old format! Years and years ago, going there was a "discovery" of all the treasures they used to have but now its a cluster of stuff around and staff that doesn't seem happy to be there to start with. The quality has dropped considerably and its hard to find the prices in the middle of so many things and hard to find someone to ask about it. Then when you finally get to check out, wait in a queue to pay, the discount advertised will not show in their till and after you paid full price and go back to coun...ter "and queue again", you have to put so much information on the receipt to get a refund , that is ridiculous. Make me wonder if they don't update their till with sales prices on purpose for all the people who will not check if the discount was applied or not. So much potential Spotlight has. Needs a revamp though
Paid for a product but it was never delivered
I ordered a blind from Spotlight. On their website they claim that it will arrive in 2 to 5 days. Two weeks later it still hadn't arrived. Australia Post failed to deliver the blind and said on their website that it was being returned to Spotlight. I told Spotlight that I would like a refund which they agreed to. The catch is that I can't have the refund till they receive the product back from Australia Post. The parcel was only travelling 30 kilometres and in almost 4 weeks has not been delivered to me or back to Spotlight. It's outrage...ous that I'm not being given a refund because Australia Post can't give any information about the whereabouts of the parcel. This is an issue between Spotlight and Australia Post. Why should I be denied a refund because Australia Post can't locate the blind? If they never find the blind will Spotlight keep my $90? On the basis of my experience, I would caution against online orders with Spotlight.
roller blinds mouldy in the tropics
I had purchased several roller blinds for my windows the ones from spotlight have gone mouldy and look really bad. The marks will not respond to cleaning. Also purchased blinds from a different company which are still like new. The spotlight blinds are not suitable for humid conditions!!!!! Just wanting to warn people who live in tropical areas to shop around

All These 1 Star Review Should Mean Something Right???
Really wish we had looked at Product Review before signing on the dotted line and paid the deposit for custom curtain installation. It was our fault for not doing our due diligence and assume a big company such as Spotlight would care about their reputation but unfortunately we cannot be more wrong...
[name removed] was the consultant from Spotlight Miranda who came to our house for the measurement. We were happy with the presentation and quote except for the lead time of 4-6 weeks. Bruce finally agreed to deliver in latest 4 weeks if we put d...own the deposit straight away. All written in the contract that we signed. We tried calling and left a few messages for [name removed] in week 3 for a follow up. No response for days so we tried calling the Headquarter only to be answered by a machine which was expected. Dialled 3 for Job / order follow up only to go straight to message. Again no call back. Week 4 we were fed up and Dialled 1 for New Sales enquiry and of course... [name removed] was on the other line. [name removed] was kind enough to check on our order status and we were shocked to hear that they have not even started production! Apparently [name removed] had left a note "Pending. See [name removed] first". No explanation given as to why this has happened. The only thing they can say was that if we still want to go ahead, the minimum time they can deliver is 4-6 weeks from that day! Well done Spotlight! But of course.. Spotlight doesn't care.. but I hope anyone who reads this do.
Buyer beware Circut machines
We purchased a Circut machine and we was having issues straight away with it not connecting and the web page having issues, tried Mozilla as well as chrome. Took the machine back to spotlight and we was advised that the product can not be returned as they only sell the product. If there is an issue we have to contact Circut direct. We was not advised of the non return policy at time of purchase so we are now the proud owners of a $350 paperweight.
Needs to get their act together
I have shopped at my local Spotlight in Beckenham a few times only to be rather dissapointed each time. The linen and doona cover sections are always a complete mess and stock is often scattered about on the floor everywhere. They often don't have the advertised catalogue specials in stock (surely they should order enough to meet demand). Service is practically non existant and trying to even find a staff member is a challenge as they are few are far between. This company needs to get its act together before they close if the previous reviews i have read and my own experience is anything to go by.

Roller Blinds don’t measure up!
I purchased ready to hang roller blinds 90cm wide are only in fact 86cm wide and 120cm wide are in fact 116cm wide. Hence my blinds have gaps down the side. Brackets are the published measurements apart. I’ve had much better blinds from Spotlight before but no more!

Bad behavior staff
I had purchased the fabrics and I checked the price on the shelf so I grabbed 5 rolls fabrics that I wanted. I didn't know there were different prices. This staff was about to cut one of the fabrics, when I was about to ask her for the price. Her behavior and face appeared very annoyed and sounded so horrible and rude. She put the light roll of fabrics very hard on the table, carelessly.
When I walked away from her I met the another staff and I asked her if their manager was here. She told me the manager wasn't here and couldn't contact her. I...
Spotlight Albany WA, shocking
I had been waiting for weeks for an item to be restock but to no avail. What’s worse is many of the items in the sewing/hand craft area were and have been empty for a considerable length of time. Don’t get me started on the ineptitude of the staff in the afternoon (most likely 15 year old school kids) who had no idea about basic stock or where to find it. This place is getting worse by the month.
Make to order block out roller blind
I am not happy with the delivery service, the roller blinds are order to deliver to Melbourne but end up in Queensland . The installation date was cancel and I wasted my day work waiting for the fitter to install the blinds. I'm very upset and disappointed with the Sandown store customer service, because he could not tell me why. We have paid the full amount for the roller blinds and we are still waiting for roller blinds for very long time. We fell that we are being scam by spotlight. They took our money but did not deliver the goods.
...October 9th 2019 Update: Customer make blind (wrong measurement of roller blind) I very upset and over with spotlight make to order roller blinds. They make wrong delivery and wrong measurement . They came twice to check the measurement and still get wrong. Now they told me to wait for 2 to 3 weeks to get roller blind replace. Is this how they treated their customer
Wanted to look for a specific item and couldn't find it. Asked a staff member, instead of showing me where the item is on the aisle, she just pointed.
Incident 2 - I asked a staff if they had stock of a certain item, the reply was "If it's NOT on the shelf, then we don't have stock".
Incident 3 - I asked a staff about a certain stock, she replied that she does not work in that dept and had no idea and walked away.
I find the staff there at Spotlight in Ashmore not customer service orientated. They just can't be bothered.
This has got to b...e the worst customer service I have ever come across!! Management need to pull their heads out of the sand and take notice at the can't be bothered attitude of some staff. Perhaps more training on customer service is needed.
Bad customer service
I bought on 19/9 a Cricut Mat using my 40% voucher, Unfortunately I got the wrong colour so really I just want to exchange mats, had to go through the process that they credited me & re charge but the best bit was because I used my voucher on the wrong mat it was deemed used & gone so to swap mat was @ fully price but less my credit for the wrong mat. I get that it was my fault for buying the wrong circuit mat but really to not give me 40% off the new mat. So in summary anyone using their voucher make sure you don’t have to return it. Because you don’t get it @ the cheaper price.
Absolutely shocking service
Absolute shocking service - both in store and online. They really don't want to serve customers, assistants have no idea about their products, what's in stock, their systems don't even allow stock availability and what is actually in store, etc. They can't order in store for you, you have to go online. Their online ordering is evasive (and it doesn't support iphone, tablets etc only a computer? I had to call customer service to be advised of this so took me 2 days to order online). They don't have disclaimers - whilst they say they do - you are...not notified of any disclaimer when ordering - if you don't know where to look and what the buttons mean, the customer is oblivious. It's not until you have ordered and HAVE PAID that you are advised. Customer Service can't help you - they can't even confirm your order or what's in it (my reference is to continuous curtain fabric, advised after ordering it may come in different meter lengths from various stores). Why would I order continuous curtain fabric only to be cut in meterage I haven't even asked for??? It really makes me not want to shop there. Unfortunately there aren't many haberdashery stores left these days. Mansours were great, Lincraft good but many stores are closing. Spotlight lift your game seriously do your customers a big favour and actually provide proper customer service. Train your staff, offer them an above average one-stop service. Maybe update your system to assist you to provide the service - in this day and age it's not that hard. I can't wait until I receive order, if not what I ordered there will be Round III (I - in-store; II- Customer Service on phone)
No Service, No Advertised Stock
Yarn is advertised as on Sale at 40% off, go to North Lakes store and there in none in the shelf. Ask staff member and get reply 'Oh that never arrived in the shipment, don't know what is happening with that'. Not the first time, I have wasted my time going to Spotlight and walking out empty handed for that reason. Spotlight you suck.
Installer the rudest man I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with
The quote, measure up and ordering of our blinds was easy and problem free. The issue was the installer who was unfortunately the rudest man I have ever had to deal with, in any situation. When he was rude the first time and my blinds weren't installed I was so upset I called the store to make a complaint. The installation was re-booked and unbelievably, even though they have other installers, they sent the same one. He was even ruder the second time, resulting in my blinds again not being installed. The issue was, even though the 'appointment...time' is a 5hour window, he came outside of the allotted time and then was abusive because I wasn't there, twice. I rang and asked for a refund because the experience was so unpleasant I didn't want to deal with them again. To be fair, the refund was given eventually, even though I had to call again after a couple of weeks because it hadn't been done. I know the installer would have said it was all my fault and that he didn't do anything wrong, because that is what he told me, quite rudely!
Curtains and Blinds
We have used Spotlight once before for curtains but never again!
Our order was placed on the 11th April 2019 we still do not have our curtains on 2nd SEP 2019 and they are nowhere in sight. They made measurement mistakes originally and when they finally turned up they did not come with the blockout backing as ordered.
Their resolution centre can take up to 30mins to pick up the phone. It is impossible to speak to management in order get some action taken.
They demand full payment in advance and now we have a new home with no curtains and seemingly nothing being done to fast track resolving their mistakes.
Not happy Spotlight.
Do not buy from Spotlight.
Faulty product. Only want to exchange sheets for stronger sheets. But no way without receipt even though I have bankcard evidence of purchase. Bad show spotlight, heartless policy. I will bad review them for ever. Your choice Spotlight.
Like Bunnings only more fun
Spotlight is my go to for all things home-related. I usually go in for one thing and end up coming out with a trolley-load 3hrs later. Always good quality and their returns process is great on the occasion that I buy something that turns out to be a bit crappy or unsuitable.
This place has the same attraction as Bunnings and Ikea... big warehouse style with heaps of things to grab your attention. Unlike Bunnings, it's a bit brighter and a heap more fun.
My only complaint is that not all items have prices and the price machines don't always work. It's quite difficult to find floor staff without trekking all the way back to the registers.
