Poor customer service communication
They left off the rubber strip's on my new home only to realise when I organised a window film applicator for window tinting. Called and emailed without any response. Was lucky to get through to speak to somebody one day after numerous calls. The consultant said somebody will call by end of week to schedule, however nobody rang. We bought a window and fly screens for our bedroom. The service up till the installation was good, but absolutely deplorable from then on. We had black bars placed in the middle of our fly screens, the window frames are white, and the black bars completely detracted from the view. In the drawings we approved, there were no middle bars, so we were unhappily surprised when we received our windows. We went back to Stegbar and asked for them to be removed or the screens replaced with no bar. They outright refused our request and would not support u... Read mores at all. We went to fair trading to find a solution and they still said NO. Today we had a tradesman for a blinds company visit for a separate job and we showed him our screens as we wanted to change them ourselves. To our utter amazement, he had the fly screens down and the black bar removed and tightened the screens in less than 5 mins and at NO cost. In his own words, he said that Stegbar were simply LAZY & not customer focused and the fly screen manufacturers have inexperienced staff who are not trained to make screens without putting the reinforced bar in the middle. For such an easy fix, they really made it so unpleasant - it’s absolutely disgusting behaviour and the female manager at Stegbar who we had to deal with does not deserve her job. Well, think of everything that could go potentially wrong and manage it… put it in writing or else, you most likely will be disappointed when Stegbar has your money and could not care less addressing your issues. So here my final comments which I type above my initial review to ensure that readers are able to read up front about our bad experience instead of having to read follow up comments which get pushed down: The final story… Five (5) months after having written my initial praising review, after having gone back and forwards with the Stegbar after-sales person who declined our kind ask to solve our problem, after having taken our complaint to the Complaints Tribunal only for the very same person not giving a toss but declining again due to warranty (what a joke!!), we had a blind installer come by to measure and quote blinds for us. He looked at the fly screens and the crazy black bars saying, quote: “No worries, I will remove these black bars for you whilst you select the material for your blinds. Will take me less than five (5) minutes. As to WHY Stegbar declined to remove them? Reason is most likely that they could not care less as they have your money. Further, the Stegbar workers manufacturing these screens are most likely incapable and have never been trained well to manufacture these screens correctly. As a result, they most likely would BREAK the fly screens during the manufacturing process if these black bars are not installed! Stegbar’s work around? Warranty! This is very unfortunate and absolutely ridiculous.” Five (5) minutes later the bars have removed and we now have a beautiful view. Summary? We will definitely recommend the lovely person who definitely will get our job with the blinds AND we will most definitely not recommend Stegbar due to the VERY poor service and risk of giving something you never signed up for. Be alert and good luck if you plan to purchase from them. Signing off! UPDATE: 18 Oct 2023 It is unfortunate having to share the following and I will not YET revise my initial rating depending on how Stegbar manages the resolution of our complaint. To explain: After installing the louvered windows, the FLY SCREENS were measured and manufactured. When the screens were delivered, my wife and I were shocked to notice that each screen had an ugly black bar in the middle. Initially, I thought this is a bar that will be removed after installation but quickly, the installer informed that this is a permanent fixture. Further, the installer informed that, quote "These screens were manufactured to specifications provided by Stegbar." As this middle bar look is ugly and takes away the entire aesthetics of our +$3,500 investment, we immediately reviewed our contract and noted without surprise that we were at no point in time informed about the ugly black bars during any interaction. Not during Stegbar’s initial on site quotation, not in emails, not in the quote, not during the installation of the window, not when measurements were taken before the screens were manufactured. We raised the issue with our Stegbar Account Manager who acknowledged that the screens look ugly and that he would follow up with to get the issue fixed. Then Stegbar Management - or better speaking the Customer Service Manager - stepped in to inform that, quote “Stegbar will not be removing these nor replacing the screens.” I will not copy the entire response here but I can assure you as a reader as well as Stegbar Management, that we ordered same size if not larger screens in the past and these did not bent but are still performing and protecting against flies. Three days ago on 16 Oct, I emailed an official complaint specifying that we ask for the current screens to be replaced with new screens to the specifications we signed off without the ugly black middle bars at Stegbar's cost AND that we accept that these new screens will have no warranty. Further, I noted that IF at any point in time anybody from Stegbar would have made us aware of the ugly black bars in the middle of white aluminum framed screens, we would have NEVER proceeded with ordering these screens. To date, my complaint has been ignored. @TheCustomerServiceManager - I do hope that you read this complaint that I add on to my review, respond to my email and do the right thing which is to rectify your error and replace the screens with the screens that Stegbar and we agreed to. It is simply unacceptable to assume a customer knows, deliver an unsatisfying expensive product and after collecting the moneys ignore a complaint letter. We are unsatisfied with the product Stegbar manufactured which does not match the description in Stegbar’s contract that we signed. I am sure that you will appreciate that a customer, who invested +$3,500 would appreciate for the final product to meet the description and specifications we signed without the final look being destroyed by a product which is simply ugly. Dan was brilliant to manage our requirements and got hands-on when we needed guidance. And Ben the installer? Well... what a great man he is. Courteous, easy going, VERY professional - thanks again, Ben! Is there anything that I can flaw? Yes. As with many manufacturers, their quotes just don't make 100% when you don't work in the industry (... or maybe it's only me :)?). Especially with louvered windows, I recommend you email a drawing to your Stegbar Rep to ensure your needs are fully understood and to avoid issues that you only uncover after having paid and received the final product. In our case, I sent a drawing to confirm the correct placement of handles and how many louvers we can open with each of the four handle mechanisms. Multiple mistakes at various levels of service have resulted in a very long and frustrating experience with Stegbar and Scorpion Screens.Amendments to one item on the quote resulted in changes to a separate item on the quote, incorrectly increasing the price. It took multiple calls and emails to get this correct, delaying the order which as it turns out, was still wrong in a different section that nobody noticed.

When the 3-section, frosted Bathroom window fina... Read morelly arrived on 4th July, 2 sections were frosted and one was CLEAR. I have had to call repeatedly to find out delivery dates. I was initially told 30th Aug for frosted replacement to be delivered. I was then emailed 2 weeks later to say it's going to be 23rd Aug, when I wrote back today to ask what time and if I should leave the incorrect clear glass for them to take back, they thought I made a TYPO because they had ordered the replacements in CLEAR GLASS ALSO. Another delay. Screen company took all of 3 mins to measure up 2 screen doors. I commented how quick it was, the person advised he's been doing it a long time. Scorpion Screen person arrives to fit the doors.....they don't fit. He has a conversation with the builder onsite about the door stops and they make a plan for temporary stops to be fitted until the correct size screen doors are delivered and fitted then builder will custom build the new stops to fit exactly. A different Scorpion Screen person arrives to fit the replacement screen doors whilst builder is not here, then leaves WITHOUT FITTING THEM because the door stops were temporary. They have not called me to talk about this and make a new date. I have to follow up with them yet again. It's breaking my brain. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Thankfully I ordered my custom kitchen window and screens through Superior Glass because Stegbar staff said they can't do a sliding and locking security screen to go with a 3 pane stacker window. Although Superior Glass were a little bit more expensive on the price for the other items that I purchased through Stegbar, they delivered the kitchen window on time, exactly as requested with no drama whatsoever and I have to say now, it was worth it. I wish I had gone with them for the other 8 doors, windows and screens that I purchased through Stegbar. I've spent a lot of money and the experience has been incredibly disappointing.
Exceptional Service
We used Stebar windows and doors in our recent renovation and we were so taken back by their service that I decided to do something I usually do not do, and that's post a review. From the beginning to the end we could not fault their service, nor the quality of their product. They were not the cheapest nor were they the dearest in the market, but that old adage, "you get what you pay for", has never rung truer for us and confirms the other equally old adage, "cheap is not always the best"! We contacted Stebar expecting that typical finger pointing game of, "well we didn't do the install", which never happened. Shortly after sending the initial email they were out replacing the panels. We are currently awaiting our semi frameless shower screen to be installed for a 3rd time due to the absolute incompetence of Stegbar who have measured it up incorrectly twice, hence, then being unable to install it both times. Last Monday 26/6/23, they tried for the 2nd time before realising again it had been measured wrong. They also at one point advised they had ‘lost the shower screen’ in their factory which was another couple of weeks of delays added. The first initial install date was 1st June.We were told after latest install issue this... Read more would be pushed through urgently to get the job completed within 7 days but I have been told today it’s looking like being installed Tues 11/07/23 but not yet confirmed. This company lacks any type of urgency or seem to actually give a damn that we are now 6 weeks past our original handover date due to the fact that STEGBAR can’t measure or install 1 shower screen. Our family has been living with friends and family during this period as we had to be out of rental which was sold which wouldn’t have been an issue if Stegbar could have completed this very simple job on the original install date. Our pets are in pet motels which breaks our kids hearts and we are so upset and emotionally exhausted by the fact that no one in upper management at Stegbar is actually taking this serious and pushing this job to the front of the list to get this sorted for us after we have been displaced for so long now due to their Stegbar’s mistakes. To rub salt into the wounds, they than came to install shelving into our laundry cupboards last week after 2nd shower screen disaster and put shelving into our designated broom closet which had a power point and swapped around cupboard that was for shelving to now be the new broom closet. This is so Ridiculously stupid that someone can not refer to a plan and it’s now our problem to organise a power point for our new ‘broom cupboard’. There is no care given to our build at all, Or…Stegbar doesn’t provide their workers any training and they are completing jobs above the capabilities?? Also waiting on mirror in powder room to be installed as it was forgotten about when other mirrors were installed in house. UPPER MANAGEMENT - DO BETTER AND GET THIS JOB COMPLETED FOR US SO WE CAN GET OUR FAMILY INTO OUR HOME and not be relying on other people to help us because of your incompetence. Anyone considering Stegbar whether building or renovating….PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM. This has been an absolute disaster and we have not heard a word from Stegbar about how sorry they are or what they can do to correct this for us.. Sales rep pushing to move things quicker but seems his hands are tied by upper level managers who don’t give a damn because they don’t have to take calls from upset customers daily. Surely this company could actually make this job top priority and complete urgently rather than just say they will. We have kept logs of all these issues so we can advise others on building pages of the dismal job Stegbar do and save them the nightmare that we are still in the middle of. Absolutely heartbreaking! I hate having to give 1 star in this review because that’s so far above what this company deserves.
Worth noting - once we did end up in our house. Both the ensuite shower door and kids shower door both don’t close properly. We just gave up at that point
bad product and bad service from Stegbar
Stegbar supplied and installed bi-fold doors which we now find out are the wrong doors (stated by their representative). When it rains these doors let in the water from the bottom which floods our room. Despite constant calls and emails to Stegbar they have failed to resolve the issue. Contacted Stegbar for a quote to repair or replace 2 wooden bifold doors. I was informed they would not repair the doors if they hadn’t manufactured them. Fair enough. Then came the ridiculous quote for $9000 per door! $18000 for 2 doors.Terrible customer service and continuous delays
Ordered wardrobe fit out for draws and shelving in our already existing wardrobe which Stegbar had built only a year previously. We have been delt with continuous delays, then incorrect measurements and fit out, to then be promised rectification that hasn't happened. I've lost count of the amount of promised phone calls and CONFIRMED re-installation dates that just never seem to happen. They had made me pay upfront too due to size of job which i should have never done. I'm not getting the product that i paid for and job still not complete even after numerous complaints. I had a problem with corrosion on one of my sliding windows. I sent an email on a Sunday and was contacted on the Monday. My problem was worsened by the fact that I did not have the original quote number and as I was running short of time for the repair to be done prior to leaving my home for six months. I got quite distressed but Ella was amazing and after I was able to find the job order no she was able to then provide me with a quote and assurance that I would have my repair done before I leave. Ordered two shower screens to be fitted, was told it would take 2 weeks. Took full payment straight away. One shower screen was fitted 3 weeks later and we are still waiting for the 2nd screen its been 2 MONTHS!!!!Have called multiple times to be told, we will chase that up for you and call back - they never call back!

Shower screen - 3 attempts at install including smashing glass in my porcelain tile bathroom :-(Much damage as glass exploded. No assistance repairing damage and later denied whole incident.
Security screen install - Smashed aluminium door frame in with chisel and left when door was no longer closing.
Had to reglaze glass after installation. Stripped screws and damage to brand new supplied door. No response to warranty claims ever.
Honestly they make great windows, just get your own builder to install. The showroom team are awesome.. Show details
