Delay and then a huge price hike without notification
I was in the final quote phase having spoken to the sales rep as Ok and just wanted to view the windows and doors, and asked for an addition of flyscreens to the quote prior to signing the contract. Then Covid lockdowns hit overnight and I couldn't attend a showroom, and despite consistent calls and follow ups on my end, I politely honoured requests from Stegbar to understand and be patient that offices and showrooms were closed. I was soon to realise they will definitely be Ok as costs will get passed onto customers who are backed into a ...corner. When they then replied after many weeks, my quote was increased by thousands without notification. They advised prices went up. No reciprocal understanding to honour quotes due to delays on their end, just to gouge customers, under deadline pressure. I didn't proceed, so it was a huge cost for me now starting again to contact other supplies, and now with delay costs. My builder and others advised against Stegbar, but I believed the 75 years brand marketing. Don't, listen to the word of mouth instead.
I started the discussion with Stegbar in May 2021 about my order and I was told that it takes maximum 12 weeks to complete the job which is around the end of August or early September. Based on his word I took the measurements sent to Stegbar, a person came to my place, took the exact measurement, paid the deposit, and finalised everything at end of June. Doing all those things I receive a date in November which is 19 weeks after my confirmation. I sent them an email, but since there is no reply I called the office. The lady answered the phone ...talked to me so badly which was not the way to talk to their customers. I can understand there is a two weeks lockdown and it may be affected the business. But I can’t believe it takes nearly 4-5 months for the installation of simple 3 glass doors. Even a single-story house can be built within 6-8months. Hope to write another review later. Seeing this someone in higher management please consider to give us a near date.
Wardrobes - How not to install and finish a robe in someone's home!
We had 3 wardrobes fitted, cant offer a good recommendation of the product or the installer.
All 3 were so poorly constructed that the doors and head tracks had to be replaced. Even after replacement, the head track was scratched. The drawers do not all fit snuggly into position against the side panel when closed. The bottom drawer on one robe was cut and installed allowing it to drag on the bottom track when opened, scratching the track and underside of the drawer. They forgot to order the shoe racks, only solving it with the use of a rack th...
Zero Quality and avoid the warranty
I had Stegbar install a shower screen in a new house, which was bent and leaked. I complained to my builder and they convinced Stegbar (reluctantly) to replace it. In the end two more times, each one worse. Now screen number 3 is very bent and leaks. Stegbar has refused to replace. Stegbar is one of the companies that likes to hide behind the 'interpretation' of the NSW specifications and want to argue that the bend (I can see from a metre away) is only 1mm bent. They agree it's bent but won't replace. DO NOT USE Stegbar.
Worst after sales service yet
Stegbar sold us a three rooms of double glazed windows. In two rooms they leaked and were eventually repaired. The biggest one failed and started steaming up in the space between the panels during summer. Nearly 6 months and about 20 phone calls later we have an acknowledgement of fault and agreement to replace as the windpws are under warranty. Problem? Stegbar seem to outsource all the installation and repair work and we have had the fun around for.months. today waoting for a contractor tockeep an appointment we rang (not the contractor) and learned thw wrong glass had been ordered. So many missed appointment and call a not returned. Stegbar can't keep passing the buck to 3rd parties. Your product, your problem.
So very difficult to get a quote Stegbar???
First contact 18 May '21. Confirmation email received quickly.....Thanks Gemma. Time ticking by.......
So here we are a month later, following numerous calls and emails, still waiting for Rep Brian, or someone else to come out, if Brian is still sick. Matt can you help? Someone should be following up these quote requests. Maybe you need more sraff Stegbar.
If zero stars could be selected I would
Avoid this company ! Initial processes began in December 2020. It’s now the 30th April. Still now windows installed. A comedy of errors from measurement to the install date today, nothing funny about it though. Windows can’t go in this morning because they have been made completely incorrect. 35mm to 50 mm out. Installer is furious. They’ve had my money for months now. Customer service is disgraceful and they should be ashamed of themselves. No one takes responsibility. So many emails and phone calls I have made. I’m distraught and upset. Time taken off work to be home for the install. Stegbar Windows Rowville your lack of support and customer service is deplorable. Still waiting on a phone call. Avoid this company
Alexandria Showroom - Worst Customer Service
I contacted Stegbar Alexandria over two weeks ago asking for a quote for windows, doors and a showerscreen. Never heard for a quote for the showerscreen,
The windows & doors sales rep [Name Removed] couldn't be bothered answering the phone, would only correspond via email, wouldn't return calls. Only after a lengthy period did I get a quote that wasn't even what I asked for. I contacted the Stegbar Head Office (goes to Lansvale contact) and asked to provide feedback only to be told, I cannot speak to a sales manager (his boss) as they don't t...ake direct calls. I've never witnessed a company who don't welcome direct feedback (especially when staff actions are costing them money). Good luck trying to find a direct email or number either for specific offices. I would never recommend this company. They just necessarily delayed our renovation project.
Springs gone on both our large sash windows - they say they don’t have the parts anymore - really shoddy workmanship and timber they use substandard - I’d NEVER use again and is not recommend.
Check your warranty
Wish we had checked out these guys warranty details before giving an okay for our builder to spend thousands of dollars to use their products to build our new home. There is no warranty on the glass quality, 24 hours after leaving their premises, or in other words until it receives any third party installer in tact. But what happens if the installers have done a great job and everything looks fine. Then, for no reason the glass shatters a month or a year or couple of years later. Well here is where they use the "old blame the weather trick........or a bird must have flown into the glass.......or there could be a burglar trying to get in, trick". Problem is, when you can show none of those could have been possible, they will argue it could have been as you were not there. Imagine being allowed to sell product with no warranty obligation on the quality of your product, post installation whatsoever. Apparently it's a "standard thing" according to the customer service people at Stegbar. ACCC where are you in backing the consumer instead of big business in such cases? I've just had to spend a fortune to repair 2 windows over the last 2 years. How many more to come????
Would not recommend
Had 2 shower screen replaced and installed. Shower doors were chipped, Stainless on the frame was scratched and both screens were put together all wrong. They came out 3 times to try and it right. Would not recommend stegbar for anyone wanting to replace their existing screens.
- VIC, Rowville
STOP. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
* Installer ripped off an architrave to a window we didn't want removed.
* There was a measurement error on the kitchen sliding door.
* Once installed, the wire mesh door that was fitted did not open and shut smoothly.
* The job was still not completed months after it was supposed to be finished. We needed to continually contact them to move the project along.
* The installers said they'd cover the furniture and carpet so everything wouldn't get covered in dust, saw dust and grime. They did not do this, so everything was covered in dust and g...
Where do I start?
First Front entry Door delivered too big ... Stegbar sent up a man to remeasure twice then!...Stegbar delivered another front entry at least 3weeks later which was too big again.
Stegbar tried to say it was our fault!
Once the front entry was installed..... the horizontal bars didn’t match so 3 weeks later they came back again to fix the problem but, couldn’t finish as they hadn’t brought enough stock. Finally, after we first ordered the Front entry, 140 days later we had the project finished other than the locks that don’t work correctly....
A nightmare company to deal with filled with many oxygen thieves
We put in a request to Stegbar to have an oversized aluminium front door with double glazed frosted glass. Stegbar had a subcontractor come out and provide advice and have us a quote to have the door made and installed. This was a really simple process up to this point and we accepted the quote. The door took around 2 months to be made and was delivered without notice from Stegbar or their subcontractor. From that point on the process became a disaster. The subcontractor wouldn't answer calls when we tried to arrange an installation date and wo...uld only respond with text messages but would never commit to anything. After a month of waiting for some kind of communication we gave up and arranged for a reliable company to do the installation of which they did very promptly. But that's when all the other issues were discovered. The door handle wasn't installed correctly and had to be taken out and flipped around so it was the correct way for how the door would be installed. The door handle didn't line up with the existing door strike and in an aluminium door frame that got messy as an extra hole had to be cut in the door frame. The door wasn't ordered with a door strike either so we had a large hole in the door frame. When we contacted Stegbar to get some help, and this took multiple phone calls before we could get someone to return our calls and come out to assess the situation, we were given the run around and offered some advice as to where we might get a door strike but it was very obvious we were on our own to sort the problem out. We were able to source a suitable door strike from another company, and this has since been successfully installed with no help from Stegbar. They even had the hide to send through an image of a door strike saying they would SELL that one to us. I have not received any further communication from Stegbar about their door strike even though I asked how I could get a hold of it. Just another example of how poor their customer service has been throughout this process. Our new door is quite good due the professionalism shown by the third party company who installed it, but the near on 4 months to get to this place has been a real nightmare and I couldn't recommend Stegbar to anyone due to the quality of people they use, or the people they employ in their company.
Very ordinary service and appalling quality
Just had a new back door and new bifolds installed. The back door was to have a security screen door as well so the breeze could come through. Two relatively minor issues but indicative of slack of pride and care, one extremely disappointing deal-breaker quality and service issue.
1. Security screen door was manufactured to the wrong size despite two visits so couldn’t be installed, a further six week wait.
2. Installers nailed a strip of white quad across the floor at opening of both doors (we have beautiful karri floors and deck), they couldn...

What failure frequency are people getting from Stegbar double glazed (IGU) windows & doors?
I've had roughly 50% of the glass fail (condensation between the panes) & replaced so far in a 6 year old house?
