A brilliantly simple solution for heating water. The installation is easy and fast. I am astounded at the low power consumption compared to electric element conventional hot water heaters.
It hardly uses any power !
Nothing. It works exactly as expected.
I have 3 heat pumps hooked up together for my 10 room motel and we have now had them for 2 winters. In winter my gas bill for an 8 week period could be as high as $1400.00+ but with the heat pumps my winter gas bill is now about $700.00 for the same period. We also use the water for our heating throughout the motel and residence. In the warmer months our gas bill is less than $1.00 per day, yes $1.00!! The cost of electricty to run the 3 heat pumps in the warmer months (8-9 months)is about $100 per month. In winter (3-4 months) we do not run th...em at night. We have many people having showers late at night and with the demand for room heating if the tempreature is -5deg or more they don't recover as quickly. We run the heat pumps from early morning to dark. In the warmer months we run them 24 hours. We were so impressed with the overall performance of the heat pumps, we have also now installed one at our new house we are currently in the process of renovating. They are proving to be cost-effective, efficient and realible. Cheap to run even in the colder climates (Armidale)
Very well constructed unit, cheap to run, efficient and does what it says it will do. Plenty of hot water for family of 4 in Hobart's winter. The unit runs quieter than the reverse cycle air-conditioner near it. I positioned it away from bedrooms etc, so noise it not a factor as I had been warned where to place the unit. My decision to purchase this unit was influenced by the previous product reviews as well as counting on German engineering and European standards on energy consumption to be higher than current Australian requirements. It also was cheaper to purchase than other models which were not as efficient.
Efficient, energy saving, well designed.
Love the product, quiet and never hear it. Installed on off peak tariff and never run out of hot water with my family of 5ea, only cost me $9.00 per month for hot water. Have had it installed now for 3 years and never had a problem, another great product from Stiebel. :)
German manufactured, saved me 2/3 on my electricity bill, installed indoor in my laundry, never run out of water.
Installed unit one year ago. Choose the unit with booster, which cost another $300 extra.
On my request the unit was connected to night rate (8 hours supply from 10PM to 6AM). This was not recommended, but I decided to give this a go, should I run out of hot water, the booster will qickly provide additional hot water. The booster is connected to continous supply and has his seperate circuit which can be activated by a switch. This type of connection has been approved by Stiebel Eltron. The reason for this way to connect the unit is following: ...
I have called Sunshine Solar twice now. Why are the Stiebel recommended intallers balking at selling/putting in their product?
Gets great reviews
Thats what Im wondering. I phoned the Stiebel Eltron recommended installer in Brisbane (Sunshine Solar), told them I had decided it was the product I wanted and had the cash to install it ... and they have never shown up.
Germans and engineering, you cant beat them, They are innovative and this hot water heat pump is excellent, living in central Victoria, it does get cold but this does not worry the Stiebel Eltron heat pump at all. Overall very happy with this product, I would strongly recommend this unit.
I never run out of hot water, despite being told by a competitor the compressor was too small, and the heat pump would not recover. I have 4 children in the house, some shower morning and some evening. The machine is not overly noisy, although it can be heard.
if the machine were outside a bedroom, it could be noisy.
have had the wwk300a no booster element now for 5months and can tell the running costs for august september october .93 days supply 237kwhs on country energy off peak 1, 8.434c per kwh total for this was $19.99. Just dont want to be around in 15 years or so when it brakes down as they would be far more expensive to repair or replace then the old element one we replaced it with .vivpat.
still noisey (have learnt to live with it but dont put it next to your neighbours fence or worse still bedroom)
It has worked well although I've also experienced problems with the relief valve. It's been replaced twice, once under warranty, and is now fine. Apparently the original couldn't cope with mains pressure. It does run for a long time when it's cold but I still get two morning showers and the washing up done and it still doesn't turn on for some time.
All in all very happy.
Reliable, cheap to run, plenty of hot water
A bit noisy sometimes
The Product Maybe OK but the service is something else
I recently purchased a SE-WWK300A 303ltr Stiebel heat pump from Planet Power on Thursday 16 Nov 11 and it was installed on Friday 17 Nov 11.
The Pump compressor ran continually without the fan running for the next two days.
Not wanting to waste power, I turned it off to stop the annoyance to my neighbour due to the excessive noise coming from the rattling compressor.
I was told to report all faults through the dealer I purchased the Heat Pump from, that I did.
My main concern was the noisy operation of the unit, not knowing exactly how the Heat Pump was suppose to operate under normal conditions, e.g. how long it would run at any one time and if the fan needed to run whilst the compressor was going.
Great service all the way thru
Our old Vulcan hot water service started to have a massive leak and I started researching the best options for my circumstance. We have solar for our electricity and I wanted to keep the roof clear for future panels also wanted a service that could be hooked up to tariff 33. Finally narrowed down to Stiebel and Siddons. Siddons did not offer the customer service, price or convenience that Stiebel did. I went with Stiebel and Crown electric in Brisbane for install and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised on all accounts. I took a punt and cal...led Stiebel around 7am before work just after all of the Easter hols not really expecting to get anything but a voice mail to my surprise a very helpful gentleman named Glen answered and helped me with all queries and gave me several numbers of installers in my area. I decided to go with Crown electric and am glad I did. Russell and Jacky from Stiebel organized the unit delivery and install around my schedule and was very accommodating about deposit and payment. He and Stiebel also gave me a 30 minute window of when the unit arrived so I didn't have to sit around all day waiting for delivery which is very rare in this day and age. The unit itself works flawlessly and my family with 2 young kids have never run out of hot water. It sits outside the master bedroom and is not noisy at all despite other claims I have read about heat pumps. Do yourself a favour and install a Stiebel you wont be disappointed. Great before, during and aftercare service
Our unit has been installed for a month. The noise has been unacceptable. A rattle in the unit gets louder as it goes through it's cycle. Our installer sent out a plumber who informed us a part had come loose in transit, and that it had been attended to. The unit is still producing noise well above what I feel is an acceptable standard.
I am sorely disappointed. Subsequently my partner and I have called both the installer and our call has not been picked up. I am on the verge of asking someone, anyone to come and remove it. I sincerely wish...our experience would be as positive as some other reviewers. The water is hot, but at the loss of so much sleep? I am also very perplexed by the claim that some units are louder than others, or that noise perception is open to individual interpretation. Clearly the noise is an issue. Why aren't baffles standard with the units? Now we have to pay for baffles to be installed for a product we payed dearly for with a view to saving power and trying to be environmentally friendly. I sincerely hope someone from Steibel Eltron reads this and can answer my questions. The water is hot Too noisy. Far too noisy, and has been seen to more than once.
Have had my Stiebel for about 3 months. Worked very well on warmer days. Come winter running out of hot water very quickly, not on timer. Use rainwater so do not have long showers, 2 adults 2 children. Even 3 hrs after a a run of showers water is lukewarm. Would not have guests stay during the winter months, no one likes a cold shower on a cold night...
Runs out of Hot water
Unsurpassed after sales service - best in class on operating costs
Installed February 2010. Unit has the advantage of having 'user' replaceable sacrificial anode. Low power consumption and can be connected to Tarrif 33 for even grater savings. We had a problem with a charged gas leak in 2010 and the company was excellent in arranging to rectify the system with a fast response time to our issue-rectified by their efficient and friendly service agent.
Had another issue with a thermostat and they had a technician at our home within 1.5 hours of our call.
It is a great feeling to have confidence in superb back-up on a product you buy and Stiebel Eltron earn 5 stars from us for the exemplary after sales service.
Very energy efficient. Unsurpassed after sales back-up from this company!
So far - NOT so good! Very disappointed.
I had a WWK300A Stiebel heat pump system installed in the garage yesterday. I live on the second floor of a unit block. Normally we have fantastic water pressure in the building.
Now I have lukewarm water and poor water pressure. I have to run the tap and the shower for 45 to 60 seconds before I get any warm water at all.
The problem is possibly to do with the pressure limiting valve(700 kp). This may be too low for this building, but as it seems to be the maximum operating pressure allowed, I am very concerned that this extremely expensiv...
Runs long and loud
I installed a WWK300A in my garage and although I was told from Stiebel Eltron that it could be installed inside I have my doubts.
It runs for 10-12 hours a day at around 50dB. I have ordered the baffle but im not expecting a great difference.
If I could choose again I would go for gas HWS.
Big unit, loud, runs for half the day
We purchased this heat pump 3 months ago and have been very unhappy with it. Apart from the normal fan noise, it also emits a louder vibrating noise and a ringing. We all shower in the evening so it runs all night and is vey noisy. After complaining to Steibel, they sent out an electrician who placed a bit of extra pipe inside and walked away, saying "that's how noisy it is". After further complaints to Steibel, they sent their "electrician with attitude" out again. This time he unscrewed the top, removed some washers and was unable to pu...t the top back on properly so left it partially unsecured. He recommended we put some sort of muffs around it to quieten it and put it on a timer so it only runs during the day. We are now faced with another $900 to move it further away from the house. Haven't received a power bill yet, but let's hope it makes up for all the extra costs. Good size - provides enough hot water for a family of five. Despite their claims, this system is much noisier than an air conditioner.
Happy except for P & T valve
Very efficient - reduced h/w electricity bill by approx. 60%
Initially had it on Off Peak 1 (I'm in Sydney)which only heats at night, but didn't cope so switched to Off Peak 2, which heats middle of day as well, and now does the job very well. Just have to pay a higher off peak tariff but well worth it compared to old element system I had.
Noise is not a problem, can't hardly hear it 10m away inside the house
Big savings in elecricity usage and bill. Cools garage in summer. (but makes it cold winter)
Pressure and Temperature (P&T) valve started dripping after approx. 14 months and the installer (PROFLO Sydney) won't cover under warranty. Wanted $280 to replace it. Stiebel Eltron did however send a free replacement valve to me..
When the guy told me that it uses less power than a toaster I was skeptical, but when I did the research I found that it runs on about a 1/4 of the power. That is if the toaster ran for a full hour... very clever sales guy!
After researching the German made product, by the way the staff at Stiebel were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with, and comparing to other "Australian" made brands I found the Stiebel was a clear winner. Efficiency and quality were on the top of my list and with high rebates available on hot water units (solar is not ...
Great Product and technology
When I first started looking into my options for hot water I came across the heat pump system and I thought it would be perfect as I can't get gas to my house and the fact that it uses just 2 amps(the same as my toaster) was a great selling point.
I had never heard of Stiebel Eltron before and after doing my research found that they are not only one of the biggest hot water companies in Europe but they are market leaders for heat pump technology.
This system has saved me money and although when it is cold it does run for longer than I expected it hasn't affected my electric bill.
I haven't had any problems with mine yet and all seems to be fine.
Reliable, very energy efficient
Questions & Answers
Like many people here, my Stiebel Eltron WWK300A makes an incredible noise (nasty mechanichal noise), I can hear it from anywhere in my house, and a neighbor has just built a bedroom a few feet away from it. After so much expense I feel it is money down the drain. Would never recommend it because of this reason.
Hi can you please tell me the anode thread size for a WWK 300A hot water system.
No hot water but the unit is running
