Of all the pieces of equipment i have owned, the Stihl KM 130r Kombi system has been the worst by a long way. The quality has dropped and there is so many little things going wrong with it all the time. Aligning guides broke off, fuel cap ruptured, hedgetrimmer blade is poor, primer bulb split, handle broke. I bought it in 2014 and it has been a problem ever since. Extremely disappointed and will never by another Stihl product again.
Purchased in July 2014 for A$1,449.00.
Best Power Head In The Market!
Before purchasing 4 of these Km130R heads, I used to be a Redmax fanatic. Granted I still run EBZ8500s as blowers, every other small tool in my lawn care business is now Sthil. I was iffy about these heads at first, but 3 years later, they are still going strong. They see a lot of use. A LOT OF USE!! Late near there third season, i did have issues with starting them up. Tore them apart, cleaned out the barburators and they’ve ran like new ever since. I just upgraded to the KM131R so these old ones will be put on Craigslist. I highly recommend them. Much stronger than the competition. These 4 Kombi heads helped my small business make over $550 k in the past 3 years
Nice concept but the kombi head is hard work
I like the tool exchange options but the 4-mix head is very unreliable. Hard to start and the ideal is variable. I have had it serviced and reviewed many of the recommendations from the manuals etc but these days really I have better things to do than spend 20 mins getting it started. Better options out there
4 Mix engines unreliable - stay away from these new Stihl's
I have had this machine for about three years. It worked fine and started reliably for the first year - now it just will not start. It has been in for service twice - comes out the same. This machine has done very few hours work compared to my other equipment and is now effectively useless. I have since been told that these new 4-Mix engines are junk and that is certainly true of mine. This is a shame as I had always chosen Stihl. I have two of the old 2 stroke machines - Chainsaw and brush-cutter - that are over 20 years old and still start every time and work as new. And they have had a hard life unlike the KM 130.

Ive used the stihl km 130 kombi system now for 17 months with the hedger, whipper SNIPPER, pole pruner attachments i must say I was impressed with the power but as for reliability the thing stopped working while in the middle of a job lucky I have SHINDAIWA backup equipment so I could finish the job took the kombi to the shop to get fixed and the valve is cracked from the pistons causing unfixable damage $700 cost plus I have 4 attachments I have no need for as I won't be buying again because of this I buy SHINDAIWA they have 2 year commercial warranty
Worn out in less than 50 hours.
Bought new in 2009 with hedge trimmer, pole saw and whipper snippet attachment. Great machine while working but had 3 new carbys under warranty then took it in and they said it's worn out and needs a rebuild. $550 total cost. Would have done less than 50 hours.
Very disappointed as have always had stihl.
Lasted less than four years - not good enough
Purchased late Dec'10 after being told to expect at least ten plus years from it. Had it regularly serviced yet just under 4 years of work the pistons break off causing repairable damage. The service mechanic told me that this was not unusual for this model. No more stihl machines for me. Not worth the risk given their cost
Hi. I have 135˚ Hedger, Pole Trimmer with 1m extention pole & Whipper snipper. Easy to use. Reliable. As they say when I'm gone it'll sthil be going, I know, sounds like I have shares in the company. Sthil products are very expensive, but you have to pay for quality though.
Don't like plastic handle, would prefer a handle bar option for whipper snipper
I recently purchased the 130 stihl combi tool with adjustable hedger and line trimmer after using a friends one. It has plenty of grunt and performs above my expectations. In the near future I will add the blower and chainsaw. Very happy. Would recommend to anyone who wants a serious high quality tool.
Power, reliability, warranty and the fact that I can return to my place of purchase for service or any problem and know that they have factory trained techs on hand.
