Popped in to see them about a unit I purchased a year and half ago . The unit Never worked with the hands free microphone. I finally got the unit out to take it to them for appraisal . I had two removable face units we tried both in the shop and could not get it to work. I was offered to purchase a new unit. I kindly refused as I did not want to have the same connection problems. Left the shop but unfortunately left one of the head units behind.
Rang up several days later to ask if they have it. And I was treated like a dum sucker.
They are a bunch of condescending

Tricky sales techniques
Tricky sales techniques....be careful and avoid if possible. I asked them to have a quick look at my faulty radio. Took it out, blew dust from the connections, back in and it worked. it took about 20 seconds. "That will be $80"!!!!
Dishonest business practices and avoid
Deceitful business practices and was served by an arrogant and dishonest salesman [name removed]. Had a front camera, Alpine Type Rs and Kicker Key amp installed. Was advised that they don’t stock the Kenwood cmos-320 cameras and the camera they have are better display, even though it’s listed on their website. The camera fitted display’s was terrible and my factory camera was better. After the install job they refused to give the mic which comes with the amp. Only after contacting Kicker directly and was forced to hand this over, was the mic returned. Even when picking this up they were still hesitant to give it and their installer making smart butt comment about having 50 mics if I wanted.

Speakers had been used and repackaged
Ordered some speakers and they arrived repackaged, security seal had been opened before as it was barely sticking to the box and foam broken in the box.
No reply to email, no refund or return offered.

made me wait 1 hour and half just so someone can start on my car when i had an appointment with them! made me late to my appointment! The installation was horrible horrible!!! They didnt even follow what i told them to do and so now i need to get someone else to fix their mess at my own cost!!! they even scratched my rear door panel and it it doesnt look to be an accident because they got offended when all i did was ask them a question but i think i hurt their " professional " feelings, unbelievable!!! dodgy job and Very disrespectful! Beware! they remind me of mcdonalds.

Called in to check availability of a speaker. The guy who answered the phone confirmed they had it in stock. I drove 45 minutes to collect it. When I got there the same guy started searching for the item. He then said it was sold out! he said he could do special pricing for a more expensive model. He quoted me something which was out of my budget. I left the shop but went back there in a few minutes to buy the other model anyway. When I got there that guy was working at the back so I was served by a different person behind the counter who quote...d me the original price of the speaker! Surprisingly, it was cheaper than the special price the original guy quoted me! Come on guys! what a terrible customer service. I cant believe how dishonest you guys are!
got new car, was told by car dealer Strath car guys to install reverse camera and Bluetooth, told both items will be in mirror that clip onto my mirror, but they removed my mirror without consent, put "no frills" dark tinted chunky reverse camera mirror in that is dangerous cannot see out of it?, told me my car tint is illegal rather than admit their errors, had to get mirror removed so can drive the car, now no rev camera, put in separate "no frills" blue tooth/GPS have to pair every time get in car, try make a call but it turns on ipod, no warrantee or receipt issued, NEVER use these guys they sell rubbish then blame you

I booked in to have a car stereo system installed in my husbands car for his birthday. I had organised to have his car for 2 days, since they had me booked in for Friday, but may have been able to get there on Thursday. My time on Friday cme and went, finally I received a call stating the installer would not be there, but would be here first thing Saturday Morning! I was mad, as my husbands birthday was on Friday, so no birthday gift for him!!! [name removed], on the phone, knew that it was for a gift! Saturday came and went. I called all day,...and only ever got an answering machine. No phone call to say they were not coming, no email. No correspondence at all. . Unfortunately we went away on the Monday. Apparently, they tried to call me, but I have no register of this call, but was given the excuse maybe they had the wrong number, even though [name removed] had called me a number of times the following week to change my times. Once we were back, I emailed them again, to be told they could give me a $20 discount on a $600 stereo, but they could only fit me in on certain days, which did not work for me. I am very disappointed and upsets my husband still does not have a birthday present! Very unprofessional!

These people have no idea I used to be an audio installer for may years. I had a parrot car kit installed by them and had nothing but problems. Went back twice they tried to fix the powering down on its own. I since removed the unit and installed it myself on my new car and found they had bent the power plug too far and terminals were disconnecting. Have been back again now with only 1 month warranty left and they won't do anything about it because I installed it myself this is after being insulted by the older man there who replaced the cable ...for me that wasn't the problem. I think im going to have to get fair trading involved now although I really didn't want to do this. Shame on you. the son was a gentleman but dad really shouldnt be there
Dropped my car with no interior or door trims for a new stereo fit out easy job for them told 3hrs took 7hrs end result lots of errors.I then took it to a sound pro for under $200 its 100% tuned and all connected properly.My lesson all ways google the shop and read reviews before you walk in i learned the hard way.

booked in yesterday for a new car radio, due out today at 1pm still hadnt shown by 4pm, stayed at home all day on my day off, called the office and was told the installer had fallen off the planet and they could come out again for another 8 days.

I purchased a Highlander DVD recorder and apart from buying a faulty product, the store was rude and unhelpful when it came to honoring their warrantee. As a result I consulted the fair-trading department as well as legal advice and as a result I got my money back. Honestly, it didn’t need to go that far strathfield. Make no mistake, strathfield car radio is a poor customer service, poor product company which I’m sure will be out of business soon enough for ripping of hard working Australians who simply want good products and service.
The only positive thing that came out of the deal was learning that the dept. of fair trading will help keep business honest in Australia.

Staff a lazy, products poor. Don't get sucked into any 'offers' they have. Awful, just awful. Its been 14 days now waiting on a repair and my item, it is still in the shop waiting for 'authorization' to get sent back to the 'head office' to get fixed!! Do not use this Shop! If i had been in they would of forgotten it was there.

Purchased a TomTom Rider GPS for my motorcycle from the Penrith NSW Store back in Oct 2006 (before the store closed).
1 week after purchase the GPS bracket failed/broke whilst doing (80km/h), took it back, they fussed about & eventually replaced the faulty bracket.
Another week later, halfway into an interstate trip the GPS completely died.
Again I took the unit back & when I received it it still wasn't working at all.
So, I then demanded a refund & they flat-out refused, store credit only they say, [censored word removed] I said. Even ...
In August 06 I purchased a PVR from Strathfield. In November 06 it failed so I returned it to Strathfield for repair. After a month of waiting/stories I wrote to Strathfield and demanded a refund as the unit had not been returned and neither Strathfield or the manufacturer could advise me of where the unit was. Strathfield replaced the unit the same day. 3 months later, March 07, the PVR again failed and was returned to Strathfield for repair. Again a month passed without the unit being returned so I wrote to the manufacturer with a copy t...o Strathfield demanding a refund. The same day Strathfield contacted my wife and whilst she requested a refund the store suggested a that a 'store credit' only would be given. Today my wife visited Strathfield and specifically requested a refund. The store manager advised that this was against Strathfield policy and they would only provide another product or give a 'store credit'. As a result my faulty twin tuner PVR has been replaced with a single tuner PVR (much the same according to the store manager - can't quite figure out how I can now watch one channel whilst recording another - and also explained what a good deal it was as the box is marked $399 but we can have for $170 - actually thought that they had sold for this price for some time now. They do have twin tuner PVR's but sorry out of stock). Due to the new PVR being cheaper, my wife was also given a $100 store credit (well she actually had to give them $2 to make it an even $100 because they couldn't handle the odd number). I hate to think what catch will be associated with reclaiming the $100 store credit if we ever try (given that I've only ever shopped at Strathfield once prior to the PVR purchase it may be along time) All pretty much fed up by the Strathfield run around and I'm now waiting for an answer from Qld Fair Trading on how legitimate Strathfields refund policy is. Impossible to get refund for faulty product
I have bought several products from strathfield but most of them have been lower quality items such as Sony's car audio products that used to offer good value for money.
I bought Sony front speakers, 12 inch sub, and stereo deck for my car. The price was extemely cheap and I am still using the speakers and sub. The deck was changed with something of better quality at a later date.
One of the sales assistants working there kept trying to convince me to buy a certain brand of speakers even though I constantly told him I thought they were ch...eap quality and I didn't want to buy them. On the plus side, their car installation workers are generally capable and helpful. Overall you would probably be better off going to a store like JB Hifi Decent range of budget products

I am about to get an Audio upgrade from Strathfield in Brisbne on Monday. From what i've read on here about them, they don't rate too highly. Can anyone inform me of any problems or good features with the Brisbane business before i spend 1,600 bucks?
Can't speak for Brisbane as I'm not from there.
The guys here (SCR Sydney) are pretty good, but every car has it's issues especially new ones as car manufacturers don't consider after market installations as part of their build process.
My advice is to make sure you take pictures before and after of your car, and ensure that you have something in writing that clearly defines who will cover damages if any are caused. This way you can clearly demonstrate a problem (before and after) and have agreement at the outset on who is responsible.
Don't just get a hand shake and verbal commitment.
Also ensure that if you are having any leads from the batter run, that they use proper heat proof covering or run it behind the firewall covering in the engine bay, otherwise they wires melt and short out.
Look at Dynamat on the doors as well, not just the speaker area. Makes a big difference to acoustics, and keeps road noise out.. Even when no playing tunes.
Thanks Noah. Have had the job done and everything is ok. I hovered over the bloke and It took him 7 hours to do it, but he did use all the correct gauge shielded wiring, especially to the Sub. New speakers went back in where the original one's were, with a slight modification and had to drill a hole to mount each crossover because the panels wouldn't go back on. Had to pull the back seat out to run the Sub wiring through to the hatch, but a good professional job. You're right about after market. The only place he could fit the Speaker Amp was under the left front seat, which makes it awkward to get at it to set the levels but that's really no problem. Strange there should be so many bad reports, unless this bloke knew exactly what he was doing. Thanks for you're answer mate.
