I have a 2010 Impreza Badge R, Body Sedan, Engine Size 2.0, Transmission Automatic, Date Purchased Apr 2019 IT has developed a ping type sound when revving around 2000-2500 rev had it to the mechanic and he has done extensive work replacing coils, and solenoids and still cannot eliminate the pinging. (Mechanic did not charge me for the work he did and had the car for over a week- he flushed fuel system as he thought it might be dirty fuel also changed the oil) Is there an update to the computer system (or a patch) to fixed the timing as this is one of the things that cannot be done by the mechanic? Grateful for your advice Kevin

I am researching for hatchback cars and thought this car is great! but would like to know any of you bought recently model 2020, while have experience issue driving up steep hill with 4 adults and full loaded in the boot. How did it go? Need to reach more than 4000rpm to hold the torque? I am seeking who have 2.0i-L level not entry or top of the range class. Also what about does it enough to take off when approach T junction? For me, I am not a racer person and prefer to have less effort whatever it goes. Thanks!
I have the 2.0i-P, pretty much the same but with sunroof and GPS being the only difference. Fantastic car, no problem with power, very comfortable to drive. Fantastic safety features. Highly recommended. The only difference with top of the range (S) is it had some leather features, sports pedals and 4 extra safety features, reverse auto braking, blind spot monitoring and 2 others..... the motor is the same through all the models.
Thankyou
Does it have backup camera?
Yes it does, all models come with a reversing camera and guide lines
Thank you
I am looking at purchasing a first car for my son. I have seen a Subaru impreza RS 2008 for sale for $6,000. It has done 166,000 odd K's. I have heard many conflicting reviews on the car. Is there something to watch out for in particular. Any main mechanical problems? People who have them what petrol do you use and what K's/100 do you get?
I have a 2010 Impreza and it has started 3 loud beeps when I start and turn off vehicle all of a sudden does anyone know what it is?

I find my 2018 Impreza air con not to be as fast as my previous cars in cooling down the car. Does anyone else have this experience? or is it just me?
Hi Guy's, I am looking at purchasing the new 2018 Subaru Impreza. Can anyone provide some insight on their reliability? It appears there are lots of issues with Subaru's CVT transmissions in the US. I can find anything in AU, so I can only assume that's a good thing?...
Hi .... Totally unaware of issues with the Trans. I believe the XV ticks all the boxes
I had a small issue with my automatic revving too much when travelling below 40kmh, which was picked up at the service and fixed easily. So far no real issues, as warranty covers all.
10k on my 2018 Impreza, no issues
Which will you recommend to buy, Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Lancer?
Depends if you want all wheel dve or not. Personally I'd go for the lancer VRX I think it's called. The AWD system of subaru is unbeatable though. If you don't mind front wheel drive only, go for the Lancer.
Mitsubishi make a decent car for on a budget. However if you value safety the subaru has AWD and electronic brake force distribution and all round better build quality. Subaru were truly ahead of there time.
I have 2010 Impreza hatch, since new only done 35000 Klm, has very bad noise coming from front wheel area. could some one please advise what could be wrong?
Hi Heather, I think it might be the wheel bearing or the CV joint. It is unlikely to be the CV joint on a car with only 35000 on the speedo. Also check your brake calipre, their may be a stone stuck in the backing plate of the brake rotor.
Good luck.
Hi heather the cv joint cover was wrecked in mine with only few kms on the clock. good luck
I am about to buy a 2007 Subaru Impreza hatch just wondering is the car a good car in your opinion? I have driven it once but I just want to know for the long run.
cheers everyone
Beware. If it has any rattles, or over revs then dont buy! Some have no problems, and others are lemons. It seems to depend on each vehicle. Mine has caused nothing but grief. My 12 yr old ford was so much more reliable... I sold it for $4500, and it was a better car than the 2012 Subaru.
In the it's completely your decision. I had a very bad experience with Subaru and will never consider buying any of their vehicles ever again. I lost too much money over problems which shouldn't have been occurring in a brand new vehicle. I had a 2012 Impreza and it was mechanically unreliable a complete dud. Subaru are only good with customer service if you don't have problems with their vehicle. I ended up selling my Impreza 11 months after buying because we couldn't drive it with our children as we just didn't know when it would break down next. I would have serious concerns for the longevity of any Subaru. That's just my opinion based on my experiences. I now have a dull boring Toyota, but it's quiet, efficient, comfortable, good solid customer service and best of all it is very reliable. I hope that helps your decision.
I also agree with severina. There is no customer service when you have a complaint. They will always try to say it's something you did to the car, rather than admit it is their problem. It's better to go with a company with more integrity
Anyone have a rattle coming from the rear of their 2014 Subaru Impreza? Car is only 4 months old and been to the dealer 4 times to try to fix this issue to no avail.
I had the same issued with my Impreza. I believe that it could be the centre brake light. If you have a look at it, generally they don't sit securely with the rear parcel shelf. If it's slightly loose, get the dealer to put a small amount of packing tape around it. Hopefully that'll stop it.
Thanks so much I will get the dealer to check it out!
It's December 2012. When I check the used car adverts for a Subaru I notice many more Imprezas on the market than other Subaru models. Is there an explanation for this other than they are not very good cars?
I found the same to be true. I think the answer to your question is they are a big dissapointment to the buyer. I was thinking to indulge, but after seeing how many with low kms on the clock are on the market, I've changed my mind.
I bought a brand new impreza 09 hatch, I researched other cars for weeks before deciding on the subaru and totally regret it now.. At 50,000 ks the water pumped seized causing engine damage!! Car is not under warranty anymore! Worst purchase I have ever made!
You'd be correct in assuming the G4 Impreza's have problems. I bought one in Jan 2013 and it broke down 2hrs after taking delivery. After nearly 12 months of fighting with Subaru and constant problems including, massive oil consumption, major dash rattles and intermittent failure of the engine to start, I had to sell it. Subaru couldn't diagnose the problem let alone fix it. Stay well away from the Impreza's, The FB20 series boxer engines Subaru uses are horribly gutless, hate anything but 95 octane unleaded and burn around 1lr of oil every 3-4000kms.
You might be right there as the cops highway patrol had suburu impreza and they had problems with them so they switched to mainly ford and Holden cars / it could also be a number of reasons why people sell cars
We have a 2010 subaru imprezza. have had a few flat battery problems and have had to jump start. last time after jump start i have some icons on the dash staying on e.g. engine, stability,an cruise light flashing.does anyone know how to rest these issue's.
We had the mechanic light and cruise control light both flashing on two occasions, both times we were on the highway, and the cruise control stopped working also. First time, the dealer said it was because we had put E10 petrol in the car. it happened again and we were told there is a software upgrade needed to be done to our car, this was required in some 09 and 10 models. It took literally 15 minutes to do and the problem hasnt happened since.
