Could be better
We purchased the DVR4-4580V on the 9th December 2019 and my husband installed it last week. Everything was good but now the app crashes all the time so I have to turn off my phone or tablet then on again to see it or front camera has stopped recording so we don't get any play back as it only occasionally picks up a car in the dead hours of the night then nothing again so that's absolutely useless. I have sent them a message for them to contact me but I think a phone call tomorrow might be in order. We really need that camera to be working and the app.

Unable to watch recording not being told that unit can be used only with internet. So they can spy on me. There should be warning that unit is useless if no internet. Seller not willing to refund. Happy to take extra warranty

Worst product I have ever purchased!
I purchased a DVR4-4580 4 camera security system in May '19. Installed no problemo and then two months later we moved to a different residence and during this time my partner went away for work. I think he might have left his brains in the Pilbara because for the life of him he could not remember the password. No problem we can do a p/word reset! Yeah right. You can only achieve a p/word reset using a router to communicate with Swann so they can get the MAC address to action a reset. This is the only way. We do not own a router and do not have ...NBN we only use wifi on our mobiles. I have a tonne of data that banks every month and we never have a problem even streaming Foxtel so there is no need. Without the password you cannot access saved data nor change any settings, so basically the box is useless. So after another 50 or so attempts of playing the 'whats the password?' memory game I gave up and looked at my options. I could purchase a sim card 4G wifi router with LAN port to connect the DVR for a reset but I am not inclined to hammer into my bank account for the at least price of a $280 router. Option two is (after a few nasty headaches and a lot of research online) to do a hard reset. This is obviously a plan of action that Swann DO NOT recommend as it will void the warranty. Yeah right...the amount of hoops I have read others have had to jump through to get customer care to care...hmmm....where's that screwdriver? Viewing the tube vid's of going back to factory settings with the jumpers I thought woohoo! Some DVR's out there can just be reset by removal of the battery for 10 seconds, switch on and CMOS is reset. Most mother boards have jumpers all you need to do is find where they are use you magic wire to bridge them, wait to hear the beep and yahoo factory reset. Alas after opening the future mailbox the jumpers were not that easy to locate (why Swann why?). So I am taking it to some techy who is going to charge me $45 for a hard reset. I hope it can be done and it will be a small victory against the Swann Swindling Machine. It's really disappointing to read all of these bad and sad reviews, because most of us work really hard for our money and this now owned American company (purchased in 2014 by Infinova) is taking people for a long frustrating and often dead end ride. I will never ever purchase a Swann product again. Anyone in the midst of battling Swann over issues now.....good luck with that.....no really I mean it!

Regarding DVR 4-4580. How can I bypass the password on the 4580? I prefer not to enter password every time I need to open up the menu. Thanks
