Not working after 12 months
Purchased Swann wireless 2 receivers on 4/02/2016 paid $59.19. First received stopped last week now second receiver does not work. Battery in button OK. Model SWHOM-DC820P2 Serial No. starting with 08721. Russ
Not as good as it seemed
Same problem as most people haver had. Outside unit still lights up giving people pushing the button the idea that it is working.
Inside unit with 240v plug is dead.
Recall on some units
There has been a recall issued.
The issue is limited to items with a serial number beginning with "08550".
What are the defects?
The back cover of the receiver unit may detach from the main body exposing live parts.
What are the hazards?
Great till it stopped working.
I have the same problem as everyone else . The door buzzer stopped working . Just over a year old. I am trying to replace just the buzzer, Rang the company and they cannot supply one part and I have to buy another whole package. Swann do not support their own products. Don't buy!
A few issues
We bought this item for the express purpose of using the second receiver in the rear yard, which is approximately 20m from the front doorstep. Upon getting it home and setting it up it didn't work which was the whole point of replacing the existing, functional doorbell which worked inside, but not to the rear of the house. So effectively only one receiver inside the house was useful. Unit has just gone 24 months old and has just stopped working. Neither receiver works and have tried changing the battery in the doorbell unit with no result. An inferior product that looks OK (for a cheaper unit), but functionally is very poor.
Was great when it worked (about a year)
Loved this design but same as others stopped worked after about a year. Purchased again and same thing happened. Got a refund but now on the search for another wireless doorbell. Shame as a good looking product!
Looking good but doesn't last long.
I bought the door chimes model SWHOM-DC820P (with mains power) just over 12 months at Bunnings. I like the design and it looks nice and slim comparing with two door chimes I bought before. However, it was found not working on Boxing day (26/012/16). I thought that may the button battery was flat & replaced the button battery on the door bell unit. However, it is still not working. I will not buy the electronics door chime again and planning to buy the Ship Bell tomorrow (28/12/16).
Two Failures, Each Lasting 11½ Months
Purchased first unit (single chime version) in early 2015 and it failed within 11.5 months (Jan 2016). Received full refund from Bunnings.
Rolled the dice again and purchased (replacement) second unit in Jan 2016 (dual chime twin pack this time) and only used one of the chimes (carried the other as a fresh spare). The primary unit also FAILED after 11.5 months. Decided not to bother using the fresh spare, as it would only likely last another 12 months. So back to Bunnings for another full refund, before the 12-month window closed!
It's a ...damn shame, as I thought it was the best looking unit being offered in the market by a country mile. I suspect the internal AC-DC transformer was the problem in both failures. I would pay *twice* my original purchase price *if* I could be certain that Swann would pony up with decent quality internal components and quality control! This extended two-year dance with Swann door chimes began when our very bland looking Arlec door chime of 18 years (yes, 18 years) eventually died.... That's 18 years, Swann! Are you listening??
I bought the model with two chime units thinking what a great idea--I can have one chime in the carport / patio and one in the house. Great when it worked, which was neither long nor often.
The doorbell button failed repeatedly in the eight months of its troubled life. We've replaced the battery twice and the button has been pushed into a jammed position a few times, perhaps by people thinking it might work if they press harder?? The chimes were great, lots of fun options for sound (I chose a cuckoo).
Bought it from Bunnings without checking reviews, thinking Swann is a well-known brand. Pffffft!!
Perhaps I'll try to get a refund, lol.
Update: I got a replacement, hopefully this lasts longer.
Stopped Working after a year
I too wish I had reviews on this product beforehand. Bought this product less than a year ago, it was working fine, until we noticed today that one receiving unit (we have two) doesn't work at all. I hunted around for the receipt to no avail but found the instructions. Emailed the address on the back of the instructions only to have that bounce back as it doesn't exist anymore. I phoned up the help line to be put through to the Phillipines. After several explanations to the person on the other end of the line she said I should try and take...the unit back to the shop I bought it from. Tried to take it back to the shop (Mitre10) but without a receipt I'm out of luck. To Mitre 10's credit they did search for ages on their system around that Xmas period to see if they could find a receipt but it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Will not sync
Not built to last, main receiver not receiving signals after about 1yr. Found that the door bell button had rotated slightly causing continual on state. Fixing this and replacing battery = no better. Off to the shops for a different brand.
Swann Door alarms should have a Chime that Plays CRAP CRAP CRAP
2 years old & remote door remote does not communicate with base. Contacted centre in Philippines staff can only repeat saying "Sorry 1 year Warranty" Passed onto to Manager all he could say was "Sorry will troubleshoot problem". But no replacement!!!!
Product is rubbish. Customer Service is useless may as well use a recording "Sorry - Sorry".

Should have done some homework
Sorry (but glad it's just not me) to see this product was so unreliable and a total waste of money. Not always a case of "you get what you pay for" as this wasn't cheap ( I bought the alarm with 2 receivers). The first unit lasted only a few months, the next just died after about 12 months. Cheap, Chinese, plastic crap!
I was warned
6 weeks, thats all, it lasted 6 weeks. Isn't a shame that a company like Swann can be so unethical and dishonest with their quality of product and Chinese source of manufacture. They seem to work on the basis that few people will make a warranty claim, but they have already got your money....makes it more profitable to sell crap.

Main Receiver Unit Died, No Power.
Not Cheap, yet electronics quality is obviously sub par.
You'd be better off buying a $10 one off eBay then this. Probably last longer.
Only just a year old
How disappointing :-(
Having purchased 2 of these to put in our home they have both stopped working within a week of each other .Its not like they only cost $5 each either .Wish i had read the reviews prior to purchasing them,lesson learnt .
Died after one year
I bought the one with 2 receivers. One receiver died after about a year. Warranty was for one year. Tech support no help. My advice is to stay away from this product. There is a pattern of bad quality here.
Dead within 12 months
Both chime units (the things that plug into the mains) dead within 12 months. And now I see other reviews on here it's not a huge surprise. Not sure how this product is still being produced and sold as is.
This unit came with our new house so no receipt. Worked for 3 months. Replaced battery, no go. Dismantled & found zener diode cooked & maybe other components as well. Off to buy another brand.
Chime transmitter stopped working after 4 weeks!
The chime stopped working in less than one month. I replaced the package included battery and it worked for 1 month then stopped working again!
Whenever I replace the transmitter battery it works but it makes no sense to keep changing the battery every month especially that the chime has only been used a handful of times during those 2 months!
Failed after 14 Months. Waste of Money.
It was great when it worked. However, the received unit failed after around 14 months of use. Unfortunately, it was out of warranty. The Unit would have been good if it had some longevity to it.
Gone though two door bell in one year, not happy, total rubbish!!!

I've only had this device a few months and it just stopped working. Very disappointing as it was expensive and I did not keep the receipt from Bunnings!!!! NOT HAPPY!
Rubbish. They have been recalled.
I have the same problem as everyone else. One of my receiver units has stopped working. I googled the problem and noticed they have been recalled for an electrical safety issue. I will be returning them to Bunnings for a refund.
not great, doesn't work as described in manual
took mine back to the shop after two days of trying to get it to work. I wanted to sync two transmitters to one receiver, according to the manual you can do this. But nothing worked like they said it would. Sent a query to their help desk but gave up waiting for a reply.

We got swan smart video door bell and charging it as required. To open the cover from bottom with little Alan key the screw came out. Neither it will open nor we can fit the little screw. It is hopeless to have this way to secure the bell with the plate. Do not know how to fix it now and taped it temporarily to hold it with plate. Any idea what could be done to secure it. Terrible way to secure it with difficult to handle little tools.

This product is a wireless door chime that works by placing the doorbell feature on the front door and a receiver somewhere in the house. It requires a DIY installation. There are 32 chimes to choose from, adjustable volumes, a 50m transmission range, can be mains powered, has a backlight which accompanies the chime and comes in a modern gloss finish.
Some people thought it was a good product while it worked. Many people, however, found the product to be of brittle and bad quality and broke very easily.
