Why is it that Synergy can estimate your power usage but not your solar rebate. Have to wait until the meter is read when the next bill occurs. Disgraceful. Your encouraged to go solar but then they are not happy to give you a rebate
WHAT complete and utter SCAMMERS ..
Between myself and 2 daughters .. was sicken by our last bill at $450 ..
Now a $820 dollar electricity bill.
They can see since 2019
My electricity bills have been around the $200 …
You ring them and it’s like Bad luck ..!!!
No way is this world we can use this much between us , ...
Read morewe don’t waste it .. WHAT a joke…!! Can pay for sola power with this kind of money..! Hope Australia goes solar and these crooks get nothing..! Living in the dark as it is ..! Disgusting..!!!Our power was turned off due to an unpaid bill. Life got busy and we forgot to pay our Synergy bill (we obviously take full responsibility for our mistake), yet without warning they disconnected us (according to them they sent 2 letters and left a voicemail, neither of which were received) I immediately called up, payed the bill and apologised. I was then told it would be 2 days before the power was turned back on.
With a sick infant at home we were in desperate need of power. A call to Western Power confirmed they could turn it back on sooner...
Read more if Synergy asked them to. I was then passed back through to Synergy and placed on hold for over an hour. I managed to get someone to talk to me via web chat whilst still on hold (would have been easier if the person online could have just answered the phone!) After the rudest conversation I was told 'make other arrangements' and that 'we're the only energy provider in WA so you have no choice'. Basically saying they could do it sooner but they are not going to. (obviously because it's a charge from Western Power, even though those charges are passed onto us anyway) Absolutely no compassion to the fact my sick baby was incredibly uncomfortable and we couldn't even give her a warm bath, her steam vaporiser, any aircon in Perth summer, or even a night light. I was not disputing the fact I made a mistake by not paying our bill on time, and 100% take responsibility for that. I was trying to explain that had I received the notices of disconnected of course I would have paid the bill. (According to them if it says sent on there end it doesn't matter if the post man actually delivers the letter, even though it's not tracked) So as it currently stands, I have paid a disconnection fee, I have paid all of our bills so our account is up to date, yet Synergy are still refusing to turn our power back on. (And no doubt they'll still charge me the daily usage fee even though they are currently not providing us the service) Absolutely disgusting company, and the incredibly rude customer service is just the icing on the cake. As soon as another provider arrives in Perth they will have my business, at any price.- 10 reviews

If the poor service and constant power cuts caused by a lack of maintenance was not enough to make them the worst electricity provider in the Southern Hemisphere now they have started to estimate bills because they decided to estimate the meter instead of sending someone to read it. Next they will want their customers to read the meter for them and service their own power poles. Talking to one of their service people regarding the almost weekly power cuts the issue is apparently too many (well paid) chiefs who'd rather sit in front of a computer screen and not enough indians to do the actual maintenance.
Competition is long overdue in WA.

I really can't wait for a new supplier in Perth. I call to enquire on my bill to figure out why the amount is almost 6 times the previouse bill and 7 times last years bill. I wanted to figure out if like gas I have a faulty equipment and how to check what is using the power. Not once did I mention not paying or anything like that. But the whole conversation the lady was so defensive and saying I need to use my solar panels properly. I can't wait to build a new house I am going to put a huge battery reserve just so I can get of this rip off system and rude service.

Worst prices and service in the country.
They have been fined numerous times for overcharging and bad practice but that doesn't filter down to the customer.
I feel sorry for consumers and business on this side of the country that have to deal with this crap.

Worst customer service.
Do not care for their customers at all.
Zero Fs given to you all they care about is your money.
Our family got our power cut off on a Thursday afternoon when we were on a payment plan for a large bill that we still don’t know how it was 4x as much as any other bill we’ve received our payments we’re up to date on this plan.
When we called to just pay it on our credit card and get it reconnected we were told that it would take two businesses days.
Our power was reconnected on Tuesday leaving us without power for 5 days.

Our Premier gave us a dividend from a successful court action into our power accounts. I’m old on limited income and this was a godsend. The last of it was used up in my last billing cycle with a shortfall of $4.99. I attempted to pay it immediately on receipt of my paper bill. The transaction failed due to the amount being less than $10. On reading the bill fully the payment stub stated “As this account is $10 or less, you’re not required to pay. The balance will be brought forward to your next account.” Then today two work days prior to the d...
Read moreue date expiry I received an SMS reminding me to pay by the due date or contact them if I’m having difficulty paying. I did. Explained the situation and was told to expect a payment dishonour fee. I asked to speak to someone else, not on their shift. Immediately hung up and contacted their complaints number. They were very courteous and completely waived the $4.99 bill. I just wonder how many other people in my position have copped it sweet with my initial contact to their detriment. Having had a lifetime of experience with Government body ‘corporatisation’ these people need scrutiny. All good things to the last person there I dealt with.Find out how Synergy compares to other Energy Providers

I have lived at this address for 8 months they still have not changed the account into my name, say they cannot find the address even after I sent them the metre number. Worst customer service ever. Try to call them and get stuck waiting, you can't can't work your own company properly. 30 plus emails sent with documents, maps as to where house is, Id etc absolutely disgraceful.

How hopeless, if I could give zero I would. My father in law passed away so tried to just change the account name from my Father in law to my Mother in law as she continues to live in the same house. Rang synergy, big hoo haa, can't change a name, have to close account, open new, different contract, change of solar buyback (reduced of course) and pay a new account fee. The sort of service bought out of monopoly.
I’ve never felt this strongly about an electricity provider but I’ve learnt to hate Synergy. Made me pay lost consumption for period before I moved in, rude “service” on the phone, tripled bills out of nowhere, I’ve lived at this address for a year and my bills have been very consistent.. blatant thievery!

Synergy deliberately holds up the installation of my Tesla solar battery
I have written a poor review about Synergy service regarding meter readings and charging a fee for that. I do not directly want to accuse them of punishing me for that, but I ordered a Tesla Battery by NaturalSolar and all was arranged for installation on Friday 25 June. I took a day off work to be there.
24 June, NaturalSolar calls me that Synergy still has not approved my application for the battery installation 'Distributed Energy System Application -PTC (Permission to Connect). they had received that application on 13 May 2021, but on 25 Ju...

In the past, a meter reader came every month to read the meter and the invoices were based on that. I now have to look at the meter every month and report the numbers online. I do not get a rebate for doing Synergy's work. They were able to sack the meter reader.
Now it got worse as the meter is in such a bad place that I can not photograph the meter number and the reading at the same time. There is always the possibility to have a meter reader come and I had to arrange that. Turns out, I now have to PAY for the meter reader to come and do the job they did in the every month.
What a rip off. I guess that is what happens if WA allows only ONE electric utility in the state.
It is called monopoly and abuse of power (no pun intended).
Had Solar installed a month ago (not by Synergy) and I am still waiting for it to show up on my Synergy account.
Called them 6 times and had the following excuses:
- "Your meter needs reprogramming" - It didn't it and they charged me $90 for programming, which never happened so I got a refund
- "Your solar people didn't send us the paperwork" - Spoke to solar company and they sent it 2 months before the install and I got copies from them.
- "Oh yeah found the paperwork... err not sure what's wrong will raise a task and this will take 5 working ...
