You hear stories how reputable branded whipper snippers can get thrashed and survive ongoing years. Well I fail to see how tanaka is one of them. I had 2x the older models (tbc270-sf) split shaft, both lasting 2 years after thrashing it. (1 year each). I work intensively in the mowing business with a LOT of customers, plus I use the split shaft rather frequently so that must add more onto the “thrashiness”, more than you would thrash a non split-shaft I imagine.
So I went out to buy the new TCG-27EBS tanaka 27cc split shaft, died after 9 mon...ths! IT DID NOT EVEN LAST A YEAR! My dealer first mentioned “no problems, 2 year commercial warranty covered”. yeah right! They called me back a few days later and said the motor had no more compression due to excessive use which warranty did not cover. repairs would cost $300. Oh and I heard tanaka was bought out by China, oh and it seems like tanaka and hitachi are having all sorts of problems at the moment. And it’s not like I can just change brand, I now have all these tanaka attachments. Great, I gotta get another TBC-27EBS?? Thanks Tanaka, thanks a lot.
