Excellent product, don't be put off by the fact the price is lower than other "premium" brands
Taubmans Sun Proof water based did what more expensive paints couldn't.
I recently had nothing but issues with other more expensive brands. The paint would bubble and not adhere when put into the sun. I had to go through some pretty fastidious prep work with the other brand on a second set of timber and still had the paint blister as soon as it was in the sun. It was blamed on natural "crystals" in the timber. This was not the case with the Taubmans Sun Proof.
Not using ANY of the manic prep work I had to use on the brand, literally open...ed the can and applied it with a roller, no sanding, no wiping it down. Put it out in the sun through 30-40 degree days (the test timber has been out there on my deck now for 3-4 weeks) and not ONE bubble. If that is not an indictment to the quality of the product I dont know what is.
Another great product
Easy to apply, great coverage. I used it with the 3in1 primer, undercoat product by Taubmans as I painted over timber veneer table. I found it great as I only used one coat of 3in1 for preperation. I then painted with two coats of Sun proof. It was very quick drying, so ended up painting less than an hour later for the second coat. It didnt cause me any issues doing the second coat so soon afterwards. I find that it has created an amazing barrier stopping the bubbling damage that I used to get on my table outdoors. So the seal works amazingly well in protecting from water damage to cheap woods. I keep mine under a patio but still water does get on it regularly from rain and washing down the patio.
Good value paint
Have painted my front rendered fence and I am very happy with the results. It is easy to apply and gives great coverage. Better finish than some more expensive products, two coats applied and has filled in some small cracks that were in the wall. I intend to use it now on my house exterior walls now that I've seen the positive results.
Great coverage. Self priming. What more do you need?
Used this paint a few years ago and again, just recently. It's still as good as I thought. Easy on. Great coverage. Just about to buy some more to paint the balcony. I noticed one of the earlier reviewers had a problem with the tint. Didn't have any dramas at all.
Extremely happy with the exterior of our house, The coverage of this product was amazing,,,, as we were not very experienced painters we found it very easy to use. we loved the price, and the fact that it had a built in primer.
Bunnings certainly put us on to a winner.
Awesome Paint for the price!
you wouldn't think for $50 for 4ltrs would give such awesome quality . this paint can also be walked on ( step treads decks etc!) This formula used to be Taubmans PREMIUM paint formula until Endure was established. So it's premium paint and a bottom scale in terms of price. With the main three Taubmans Tint bases available, nearly every single colour is available. ONLY DOWN SIDE would have to be that it is only available in low sheen and gloss . No flat( not that you would want flat outside or anywhere for that matter apart from ceilings) and n...o semi gloss. Just be careful when wondering outside the White base going into your accent or specifically neutral base l ( darker or more vibrant colours) These bases are basically a 'clear' base that allows for more pigment to be added ( dark colours) Neutral base is the clearest of the 2 and dark colours may need three coats for an even coverage. Accent is not as bad and has more of a milky colour ( before your colour is added) Awesome Paint! Paint Expert Retailer
Bought 10ltrs of Taubmans Sunproof low sheen acrylic for $99 from Bunnings.
Found this paint to be as good as Dulux Weathershield at half the cost for my back treated pine fence.
Will be interested to see how it holds up in the sun & rain in time but it should perform well for such a low cost.
Flowed nice, covered well,
I would recommend this paint to others yes.
this paint wont mix
I unfortunately purchased 2 x 12 litre tins of this paint in clotted cream. When it came time to stir the paint - I did this for approx 15 mins - painted a small area - lots of streaks in it . Returned the paint to the tin - more stirring - same problem. I then mixed using a paint mixer on the electric drill attachment - no better - still very streaky. I then strained the paint - slight improvement but still some streaks. The pigment just wont mix into this paint properly. After I started painting I also recalled that back in the 90's I had use...d Taubmans living proof silk with the same problem. I do like the Taubmans 3in 1 undercoat. I will never purchase another tin of Taubmans topcoat again. bad paint. Pigment will not thoroughly mix leaving a streaky finish.
