Big disappointment – I was toatsted between Aldi and Tefal and ended buying Tefal as they were on sale I was only able to use it for two years not even every day (just weekend) Sparepart started to fail and it burnt the foods eventhough they are uncooked Better get Aldi one Show details
Dangerous and waste of money – Daughter used it tonight to cook pork. Oil leaks out of basket as you pull out to check food. 200 degree oil spills out. Leaks out of appliance as well all over cupboard. I'd only ever used twice for chips and they were awful. Not cheap appliance Other air fryers have like a wire basket inside of sealed basket. This doesn't ,only one basket with vents and a moveable shelf. Definitely a burn hazard surprised it hasn't been recalled Show details
Never cooked a good batch of chips yet! – Chips always come out soggy. Some burnt, most soggy. Not recommended. Show details
Disappointment – We decided to buy this product after everyone had raved about how great air fryers are. We bought this specific one because it’s a reputable brand and it was a lot larger than the others in store. Unfortunately it has turned out to be a disappointment. It doesn’t cook anything very well. The chips are soggy and uncooked even after a significant… Read more
time in the fryer and turned halfway. The other foods don’t end up especially crispy and we have found that the oven does the job just as good if not better in the same amount of time.
If you are looking at cooking crispier food and saving time, this is not the product for you.
In addition, although the item is large (difficult to store) it still doesn’t actually fit that much food, which means you often have to cook things in several batches, which does not save any time. When we cook for the whole family, we can cook the same amount of food in one batch, which means we can do it in half the time.
The digital display is also not the most user friendly and you often have to press several times. No instructions came with the item, all online in this modern world.
Final verdict: oven wins hands down!
Digital display failed on first use – The digital display failed in the first 30 minutes of use which was very disappointing for a product that is ideally sized for one or two people and cooked the pork loin chops with perfect crackling and roasted the potatoes very well. Show details
Brilliant appliance – Very good and smart appliance. We are so happy after buying this and so easy to use. Within its specs and option it works the best and does not overcook anything Show details
Most used appliance in my home. Use it almost daily – Saves me so much time. Can put sausages or steak in it. Go and have a shower. Come back and dinners ready and turned off. Bacon sandwich- simple. Chico roll or spring roll- no messing round with deep frying. Drop into draw, do some jobs, come back and it's ready. Dont have to worry about oil catching fire. Roast pork belly, THE BEST! Wipe out fat… Read more
after cooking. Wash the draw and cleaning up done. Triggers my smoke alarm if I brush with olive oil. If you want to add oil, use a high smoke point oil, as advised. I now use avacado oil, but usually dont bother. I never dreamt how much it would simplify my life.
Great air fryer BUT! The plastic lugs keep falling off and going down the drain when washed – The round cooking plate has what appears to be 4 plastic like lugs - needed to seat the cooking plate snuggly in the unit. We have lost a number of these plastic lugs now down the drain because they come off very easily when washed due to the loose fitting design. I ask my wife to use a sink plug in the sink to stop them going down the drain but… Read more
she forgets when rinsing and bingo there goes another one. Our dishwasher has gaps in its filters that also allow these small plastic lugs to go down the dishwasher drain and our sink drain hole is too large to catch them.
This is a design flaw that is driving me crazy. Tefal needs to redesign these stupidly loose lugs and come up with a better idea. Otherwise the unit is our favourite air fryer. We have 2 different brands but like the cooking operation of the Tefal.
Tefal don’t sell the plastic lugs as spare parts either. Update: Since placing the cooking plate in the dishwasher we haven't lost any plastic lugs. We don't hand wash anymore. Internal Fan Bolt/Nut came off making a very loud noise. Found a YouTube video showing how to put the nut back on - now working again. Be careful to let unit cool down and unplug power before doing this. It is fiddly to do but can be done by anyone REMEMBER the nut thread is reverse direction not standard clockwise direction. Knowing this will save getting frustrated.
Quick and easy to use – Very easy to use and quick way to cook without preheating the oven. Although food only cooks evenly if you keep shaking it every 5 mins. It is only small so can’t fit a lot, but a quicker than using the oven. Very versatile and can be used for plenty of different meals. Show details
What oven? All I use now is my Air Fryer! – What an invention! I couldn't live without my Air Fryer! Gone of the days of heating up a huge oven when now you have the ease of switching on your instantly ready Air Fryer! I use my Air Fryer almost daily. Being just my husband and I, the size of this Air Fryer allows us to cook complete meals in it without needing to use our regular oven.… Read more
When we have guests over there is still ample room!
I particularly liked this Tefal Air Fryer for the large size knowing we love to cook and require adequate space to do so.
A fantastic product, don't know what I would do without it!
Tefal - the champions of obsolescence!! – I will never buy a Tefal product ever again after purchasing this 'deluxe' air fryer which came with issues within 4 months of purchase! Firstly, around 3 months after buying it, and with gentle usage, never used hard, the fan casing inside dropped a long screw out. Trying to figure out how the screw got there, I had to make a basic inspection… Read more
inside and saw that the fan compartment is only held in by a few screws and somehow, possibly due to poor factory assembly, one popped out! The section was loose. I didn't want the hassle of contacting their useless 'customer service' which is offshore by the way and having the mess around of shipping it somewhere at my expense, I made the choice to reattach the loose fan section with the popped out screw and was up and running again in 10 minutes!
Next, the small square rubber feet can easily come off the removable tray and yes, one went walkies.....this time I DID contact their CS and spoken to a person with poor English who passed me from pillar to post to the 'right' department until I was told to contact a contractor who runs a local catering equipment business who then had to contact Tefal and order these feet from FRANCE! (why no stock in Australia??). This was reported around 8 months ago and to date, they still have not replaced the feet which is their fault due to poor product design.....I was able to locate these feet from another unit locally. So, TWO failings by Tefal CS!
Lastly, after having to deal with the above, I now notice the anodised black paint is peeling off the tray despite very gentle use and cleaning. I spent over $200 on this product as I believed the reviews suggested it was a 'winner' but like most things these days, products are made on the cheap and these businesses do not want to know, so they will never get my trade ever and hopefully people reading this will avoid this company.
Love It! Use it every day – Follow the easy instructions and its fantastic. Don't tip the whole basket on your plate, use tongs, like it says. Great for us, main oven was too big and not working as well as it used to so this is a great alternative. Chips, bacon, toasties, roast veg, chicken in all forms from nuggets to Kievs. Crisp, hot and yes the food does need turning… Read more
like all air fryers. Not as loud as our microwave or coffee maker. Super easy to clean and use. No regrets.
Hard to tell yet – Just bought it, used it to cook up some chips (as thats my litmus test). Did a good job actually. I have the former Tefal model which circulates the food by agitator and never has had any issues. I got this model as my other one is no good for crumbed food. Sort of a bit worried after reading all the negative feedback here on the mechanical… Read more
issues. Its done a good enough job, My thoughts are to ensure the unit is well cooled after use , . My former model used a forced air system with pre heated air. The issue I have is with such a large element coiled up, you have a real issue with static heat after cooking.
This unit is a directional airflow type from top to bottom with a swirl agitator moulded into the bottom frame under the basket holes to move the air around ( I expect to even out heat on the product). For this reason and for the size of ther unit, it would be better to give some air relief or an air break to what your cooking and not pack things in too tight. I always space my items to give better airflow and even cooking
My one is an EY401D60 ....
Just hoping this does not mechanically fatigue the fan mounting like im reading here

Oil spills out on plate when emptying food - Dangerous – Having had several air fryers in the past, we were given a new one for Xmas. With not having a basket all the fats/oils which have drained from the food ends up on your plate anyway, so totally defeats the purpose of an air fryer, which is meant to prevent this and be healthier. It is also very dangerous as hot oils ended up on the plate, the… Read more
kitchen work surface and running down the side. It does have a separate tray that sits within the main bowl, however you cannot get to this to lift the hot food away from the oils. not fit for purpose...anyone who has one should get a refund.

Tefal EY401D. Does the job for it’s size but fan blade nut and washer falls off which seems an extremely common fault – Had ours for about 18 months only used for steak and chicken to avoid using the BBQ, it started to sound like it was going to launch off on the bench for the last 2 uses, noise stopped last night, could see why when I opened the drawer and the nut and washer that secures the fan had dropped onto the food. Wouldn’t even bother contacting them for… Read more
repairs to get stung a cost to fix, it seems a common issue with this model, doubt they’ll do anything about it in terms of a recall, after all they’ve got your money and will sting you to repair an obviously faulty product with no safety recall.
Self repair only involved unplugging from the wall, turning the unit upside down, removing the 2 x element screws, 1 x support bracket screw and lifting the element up for hand access, and placing the nut and washer back on anti clockwise again to tighten with a 10ml socket, might get another 18 months out of it, time will tell. It’ll be interesting to see if they delete my review from their website, people with faulty units need to start leaving a review on the Tefal website.
Update: A week after posting this review a friend who has the exact same model had the nut and washer fall off.
Don’t waste your money – Complete rubbish Don’t waste your money Unless you closely monitor and keep flipping the food, it’s completely just cooked from the top down. TEFAL you’ve failed on this one. Not satisfied at all. Will have to look for an alternative. Old model with rotating paddle was 100 times better. Show details
Not as easy to use as the packaging makes it out to be – I've just brought home my second one of these, the first disintegrated in the way others have described, something to do with the fan after just under a year of use. Having said that my experience with Tefal customer service was awesome. Within 24 hours of reporting the issue to their customer service line and supplying proof of purchase, they… Read more
sent me the information required to go into Myer, drop off the dud, and collect a replacement. The instructions they gave me allowed for a credit if Myer did not have another one, which they did. The machine itself is OK although I find the auto recipe options pretty close to useless, most things need more time. Great to cook with minimal or no oil, great for quick snacks produced in minutes if you have young kids coming over. Happy to recommend the Tefal version of this cooker to others as they clearly value their customers. hopefully, this one lasts well beyond the warranty period.
Do not recommend buying this air fryer – I used to be happy and recommend this air fryer to friends but when it just past the 1st year, it stopped working. And from reading other reviews about this product, look like it’s a very common fault, just lasted 1 year. Do not recommend to buy an appliance that only lasts 1 year. Show details
Poorly made for the price. Very disappointed – I purchased on 1/6/2019. Today is 1/7/2020. Last night while cooking Dinner the nut and washer fell off the fan in the top of air fryer. So fan no longer works. It’s cost me $50 to just have it looked at today and more to repair and more if parts are needed. This isn’t a part which is accessible or ever touched, so poor workmanship is obviously… Read more
the problem. I phoned Tefal ‘customer care‘ today but they didn’t care at all. This wasn’t a cheap air fryer and I expected it to last more than 1 year and 29 days. I’m very disappointed. When I can afford a new air fryer it definitely won’t be a Tefal. I have no choice but to have this poor product repaired as can’t afford a new one. Definitely would not recommend this air fryer.
Great value, but not big enough – For the price I paid it’s great value.... it does the job, chips come out perfect, have cooked even a small roast in it no problems. It is a bit small for a whole chicken but in the end it’s a great appliance to have if you’re keen on not having your food dripping with fat. Updated comment 30/12/20: Recently the fan started to make loud noise to… Read more
the point it sounded like it was about to take off. Didn't feel safe using it any more so took it to The God Guys and they replaced it. Let's see how the new one work and how long it lasts.
I like it until the fan dropped down – I was very happy with tefal for less then a year and the fan dropped to the heat element and making a strange noise. I didn’t bother to go through the warranty process and just use a small pliers to tighten it down. Tonight it dropped again. It is obviously a design fault. If it really die perhaps i will go for a batter brand. Show details
It hasn’t got a basket to shake the chips. Also the fat spills out when I tilt the pan onto the dinner plate – It hasn’t got a basket to shake the chips. Also the residue/fat spills out when I tilt the pan onto the dinner plate. Very dangerous! I'm not at all happy with it and I want to return it for a refund. Show details

Good airfryer but not for baking or whole chicken – It is easy to use and clean, has good capacity as well. However I tried baking muffins, cake and roasting a whole chicken and it did not produce results as it only cooks the top surface of food. So I mainly use it for frozen food, fish, anything that requires grilling. The different modes of cooking are quite useless to me. Show details
Great alternative to oven – Got this wonderful all-in-one kitchen appliance! Truly worth every penny! Perfect alternative for frying and oven. Super useful for quick meals such as nuggets, chips, potato gems, heat bread, chicken and other meals. Definitely easy to use and clean. I love the variety of settings. Been using this for 3 months now and totally saved me on lots of time and electricity bill. I still have to learn how to bake using this. Show details
good product – it is easy to use and handy. Good selection of function which is very prctical and easy to understand. very light weight and portable to use. large cooking area that can cater for range of product Show details
Excellent for health – Cheap to run and cooks healthy use it often mainly for chips easy to use low oil use easy to clean bought after using another persons fryer can not complain Show details
Amazing – I purchased my air fryer just over a month ago and use it nearly everyday. It if fast and convenient. My favourite is cooking chips they come out crunchy every time. Show details
Great time saving machine – Cook crumbed chicken mainly but great for fish prawns Uses very little oil crispy on the outside soft and moist on the inside. Does frozen chips really well but ironically chips from scratch take a long time Fantastic easy clean genuine non stick Show details
A surprise – I bought this air fryer with a lot of scepticism but once I worked out how to use it, I was surprised how quick and easy it fried things.. A relatively Quiet machine that gave good results without all the oil. Solid build and easy to clean (dishwasher safe). Just one tip, preheat first for better results as you would do with an oven. Pros: Quiet with good results. Cons: Instructions not clear.
