Have owned since Jan 2020 and like Maggie3029, enjoyed using it the first few times. Then things got messy. The fryer lid warped and even though it does not seal the lid filter is not enough to ease the volume of oily steam coating everything in our kitchen.
A couple of months of use and I noticed food particles had passed through the drain filter and where trapped above the drain valve. Not long later some of those particles had moved into the valve, so when in use, oil was leaking onto the counter top. Neither the valve or drain filter can be...

Ive never written a review on an appliance that Ive only used once before, but I am so pleased with this that I had to. If anything changes down the track Ill edit my review. But based on tonights performance I doubt I can live with it it.
It only holds a litre of oil max. But that was plenty for 3 fillets of fish and a good serve of chips. In a little over 10 minutes it was all done. It takes me that long just to preheat the oven then the fries take another 25 minutes. Huge saving on electricity.
This will be brilliant for when the gr...andkids visit and want their nuggets and chips. The fish fillets were soft and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. As were the chips. I couldn't be happier with it. The bonus. It has an oil box. As soon as I finished cooking I popped the fryer onto the oil box to drain. Ive come back an hour later. All the oil has drained out into the oil box. Not sure exactly how long that took but obviously well under an hour and a quick wipe and its clean as a whistle. No cleaning the stovetop and splash back either. It fits perfectly into my pot drawer so not another appliance on the bench. I love this appliance. Highly recommend it if you are after a small deep fryer.
Questions & Answers
Can you fill the fryer with water and a drop of detergent. Heat to clean, then allowing the water to flow through the mesh filter into the oil vessel. I think the filter would otherwise overtime become clogged ?? Especially from crumbed products.
I have owned a tefal 1000 for 20 years. It is still going strong. Just ordered a new filter for the lid.
I have always cleaned it in the above manner.
when you deep fry first,do you keep the drainer lid on or off,if the lid is on it does not close well
The lid doesn’t close tightly. It basically just sits on top and prevents fat splashing everywhere and acts as a filter. It really helps stop the fat splashing out of the fryer when you put frozen food into
It. Once it all settles down if you like you can take it off.
