Tefal Oleoclean Pro FR8040
Did not last a day
We bought our fryer yesterday, used it last night for home made spring rolls and temp could not reach 190 degrees as stated. We used a couple of cooking thermometers and it only kept reaching 170 degrees which was not hot enough and reset the machine and the same. I will say I rang the the company and they said take it back to the retail store for a refund or replacement, so can not complain about the back up service. Probably got got a crook one.
Purchased in December 2020 for $159.00.

Don’t Waste Your Time
I had mine for 8 weeks and had used it only a couple of times before the oil filter / drain system failed and it put 3 litres of used oil all over my kitchen bench and floor. I attempted to contact Tefal through several channels about the issue and they never responded to me whatsoever, but then had the cheek to send me an email asking to do a survey on how their customer service was regarding my issue.
I really liked the deep fryer for it’s wide size and the idea of the filter and storage system, but the fact Tefal’s customer service is so ut...
Read moreterly atrocious and the design fault is so significant that you risk a nightmare 3 litre oil spill to clean up, makes it a really risky purchase even though on paper it looks like a great product. I ended up just putting mine in the bin and taking it as a lesson not to touch a Tefal product again because they clearly have zero respect for their customers and once they’ve got your money they couldn’t care less if you run into problems, so I’ll be buying from other brands that at least back their products enough to at the very least respond to any issues you may run into.Purchased in August 2020 at Harvey Norman for $179.00.

Cry over spilt oil
I bought one of these thinking of the filtering option being usefull. The first time I went to get rid of the first batch of oil I drained into bottom container and then proceeded to remove and empty the blue container, suddenly whilst pouring the oil out through top drain hole removing plug and pour what I thought was a sealed container how wrong I was it was two piece container with removable lid, well the lid came off and oil went everywhere on the kitchen bench, on the floor, one hell of a mess. It is simply bad design with no warning this ...
Read morecould have happened. The second time oil was spilt was after cooking with the second round of oil, the oil level was down so I topped it back to the level mark on the stainless cooking compartment and continued using the device. When I went to drain the oil into the bottom compartment the lid popped off the blue container while it was still in the machine with oil going all over the bench and down the cupboards onto the floor the place was a mess. What I found was the valve in the bottom of the cooking bowl had leaked oil into the blue container without me knowing with debri caught in the valve allowed oil to drip slowly out of the pan so replacing the missing oil I topped up and then had too much oil for the bottom container to cope with and oil everywhere again. This deepfryer has been through two oil changes and has now gone to deep fryer heaven. It is in the BIN. Piece of rubbish. It felt so good throwing it away, I had to come back here and let you all know. the feeling was better than you know what. If you want a deep fryer dont waste your time trying to filter oil. just get a basic fryer that you simply pour the used oil out the top. Who ever invented this Tefal Filtering option inadvertantly has led by way of my experience less sales of this product. It looks great in my bin !Purchased in February 2020 at The Good Guys for $149.00.

Fit for purpose
Works well, wish it got hotter and had a better heat up time once food went in. Oil cleaning is OK, only paid an additional $10 for the feature vs the similar breville without. Wouldn't justify much more than that. Also a big unit comparatively, may not be worth the extra storage space for some.

Only easy to clean if you have a dishwasher and can wait at least 4hrs - apparently
I haven't had a deep fryer for years now and decided to get one that labels itself as easy to clean. Now I remember why I gave my old fryer away.
For something that considers itself easy to clean, you may as well add the cost of a dishwasher or the cost of operating your dishwasher, as well as extra 4hrs waiting for the oil to be cooled down enough to be filtered.
Firstly you need to factor in approx 4hrs for the oil to cool down enough to drain down the filter. The gunk is caked onto the deep fryer as it would in most other fryers. So I ...
Read moresoaked and washed all the parts in the sink since we don't use dishwashers. By the time everything is done, well it's 11:45pm. Now I have a pretty massive oil tank that is still too warm for the fridge. Though aparently refrigeration isn't compulsory, it kinda feels like, what's the point? I could have just as easily filtered the oil in my trusty oil filter jug and pour it into the bottle the oil came in. This giant oil tank takes up too much fridge space, I would prefer to empty the oil back into the 1ltr or 2ltr oil bottles it came in. The 2nd time I used the fryer, I decided to skip using their filtration system and pour out the oil through a jug filter and save it in an oil bottle rather than the oil tank under the machine. I then boiled out the remaining mess and cleaned the fryer. This time I got everything cleaned by 9:30pm.. so in other words I paid premium price for a filtration system that I am better off not using.Same problem
Bought this unit from Harvey Norman on the 23/8/2014, used it infrequently, let's say 20 times, since then to Deep fry chips or squid. Went to use it on Saturday, no luck. Did what it said and pressed the reset button, Nothing. Gotta buy something else or go back to frying in the pan.

worked for while then blew up
While it worked it was excellent. I only used it once every few weeks, after having it for 18 months it has blown up. of course just after the warranty has finished. I would have thought should last longer than this. Fairly hopeless, only thing to do now is buy a new one, quite annoying.

I was very excited to buy a Tefal Oleoclean Pro FR804060 yesterday afternoon from Harvey Norman. I took it home to cook my dinner and just like recent reviewer itib76, it did not work. I waited and tried the reset button but nothing happened. I ended up using my big saucepan instead. My family and I were very disappointed.

Hello, we've had our Oleo fryer for about 9 months. recently it's started to come to a rolling boil AFTER we've removed the contents and even after it's been switched off. It's quite scary as the boil is quite intense. It feels like a fault in the system? Any ideas?
3 answers
Hi , sounds faulty , I use mine a lot it has never done that , are you only using the oil that it advises? Anyway you said even continues boil when off so I would contact faults.
Thank you! It doesn't happen every time, it's a bit sporadic. I'll contact faults.
That doesn't sound right at all. It's probably a faulty thermostat - the unit doesn't realise it has hit the correct temperature and keeps trying to heat.
