- The Optical Superstore
Really positive experience at TOSS Myer Centre, Brisbane
Pleasantly surprised by The Optical Superstore in the Myer Centre. After looking at a $450 gap on Tiffany glasses and lenses at OPSM, I took my OPSM prescription to TOSS and was told I could get a pair of Oroton frames with new lenses for $85. When picking them up 13 days later, they adjusted them to my face and they feel good. I had been worried the lens quality might be less than OPSM but they seem great (-6.00). Definitely worth a look for the bespectacled.
Broken glasses on there way from Italy via China
My Versace glasses broke one of the arms broke at the hinge.
Took it in they blue tacked it said they ordered a new arm I have rang them several times a week keep getting told it has been dispatched.
From Italy coming via China where apparently is the holding warehouse.
I'm so disgusted. I will never buy from there again.
May 9th, 2017 Update: 2nd pair of Versace glasses broken
Bought a pair of Versace glasses last year the arm broke off at the post, post fell out.
Got the run around for weeks eventually said glasses were coming from Italy waited for ages manager said glasses were
replaced with a new pair. ...
They don't listen to the customer
I had been a loyal customer for 10 years. I just went elsewhere.
Reason: the shop insists on eye tests every 2 years and will only make glasses to the prescription just measured.
The last 2 glasses they made gave me a headache. I never wear them.
I wanted my new glasses to the exact same prescription as my old glasses. My old glass are prefect, just scratched.
They won't do what I request.
I found specsavers will make glasses to an existing prescription measured from the old glasses. But they don't provide a guarantee.
I don't care about the guarantee. I just want glasses I can wear without eye strain.
Reading glasses I purchased from your company which cost me in excess of $300
Terrible service in replacement parts I would never purchase from you again and would inform family and friends not to purchase anything without checking the conditions. I purchased a frame in excess of $300 and received 12 months warranty same as if I had purchased a $90 pair? And the staff member I spoke to was rather rude and offered very little help. The part I required was going to cost $150 robbery.
Optical Superstore Bundaberg
Absolutely brilliant, the best glasses I have ever had. Eye test onsite was so good, easy to talk to, brilliant outcome.
Store staff very courteous and helpful. Got the glasses I wanted and all for $30. Just brilliant. Well done OSS Bundy, I'll be back next year.
Not happy with the service
Optical superstore in kilburn is very disappointing, the service and the attitude of the staff is not very good. I will never go back there again and definitely I will not recommend them to any of my family and friends.
Ordered glasses from optical superstore paid deposit and 2 months later i have still not got my glasses very rude people not helpfull at all. Now i will cut my losses and seek my glasses elsewhere.
It is now the 20/2/16 and my eyes were tested on the 23/1/16 for the second time as the first lot of glasses were not right. My clear glasses came in today but my Sunglasses have somehow been lost in transit. I will never visit this optometrist again at Stockland Burleigh Heads it is the worst service I have ever encounted.
The optical superstore made a very big mistake which caused so much stress to our family
App three weeks ago my disabled daughter went up for her 12monthly eye check to find out the optometrist found something behind one eye. Quite quickly referred us to an ophthalmologist who found the same thing behind other eye. We were urgently referred to retina surgeon who found out our poor daughter has a bleeding blood vessel behind one eye and bates ?disease behind both which will take most of her sight. We were told to make sure she had prescription sunglasses always outside so we endeavoured to buy some . What a nightmare for her and Us....Due to all the costs we asked for a copy of her prescription and went on to OPSM as they give concessions for them not full cost like optical superstore. Opsm have tried to make them with quality control not passing them and redoing but when going in there today the optometrist ms [name removed] had wrote the wrong prescription for the measurement in one eye .the axis measurement was written 7and it was 57 such a big error and such unnecessary stress for my daughter who is so frightened about her future. Someone should be made accountable and the reception there was quite rude .i was in such a hurry and had to wait over 25 min for her to speak to the optometrist before could get the scripts. They knew they had done wrong and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this .opsm are wonderful and so kind
Optical Superstore P.L. (the owners of the franchise I understand) have much to answer for.
Minus 5 !! 4 months of dispute resolution with no favourable outcome for the customer. Prioritizing greed over optical health is a real worry. Given they turn over $44 million a year or so, it's a solid example of yet another dysfunctional corporate machine. We won't be recommending them, ever. Left negative feedback on their facebook page (the Ipswich Store) which I would suggest everyone do.

My family and I were very loyal customers at your Strathpine store for a number of years. We went back to get my wife's glasses checked and to our surprise found the shop closed. We wondered what's going on. No one informed us of the shop's closure. People simply closed the shop and walked away. You boast of 100% Australian owned and the excellent service, but where is your customer loyalty. It would have been nice for you inform us in advance and referred us to the next nearest shop. At least we would have appreciated it and continued being your customer. We are very disappointed about the whole thing. We had no choice but to go another store where we received a very welcoming service, We are their new customers and are very happy.
Optical superstore Firle South Australia
We had an appointment and were 8 mins late only to be turned away because the optometrist can't work 1 minute over scheduled time .but the optometrist and 2 other employees were sitting behind desk doing nothing and yet we have had to wait up to 20i minutes on other appointments so we are all going to spec savers !!!!!!!
Be willing to be treated as a 2nd Grade citizen
They look down their nose at you, don't actually listen to the client, it's "quick get you in , give you the wrong percription " ,then frown upon you when you ask for them to be returned! Return time for glasses was 6 weeks, and many phone calls.. ( I'm assuming they don't actually care , once they have your money ...
I have also witnessed first hand , whilst seated , waiting to be seen, another person questioning their prescription ! The optometrists " raise their eyebrows " in disgust or simply look around the room and up at the ceiling whilst the customer is voicing their concerns...disgusting!
Optical Superstore - Mt Gravatt - MISLEADING AND DECEPTIVE CONDUCT
Had my eyes tested at SpecSavers then went to the Optical Superstore as their website stated that they could do the high-index lenses upgrade for free. I require high index as my prescription is very high.
I explained to the Optical Dispenser, a woman named [name removed], that I preferred the glasses at their store (I had been to their store in the city) rather than at SpecSavers and was hoping that she could give me a better price. She said definitely and that she would do it for me for $30 out of pocket for the frames and $25 out of p...ocket for the lenses. She confirmed this with the Manager of the store and said that she would get the frames in from the city store (as they were not in stock at the Mt Gravatt store) and for me to return in 3 days time when she would get them in. As I had been looking around for glasses for some time as I was very glad for this and confirmed with her a couple of times that it would only be $55 out of pocket and she confirmed each time that this was the case. When I returned to the store, [name removed] acted as if I was mistaken and was silly for having thought that the price that she quoted to me was the actual price. She and the manager were very rude in their treatment of me when I protested that I had been quoted $55 ouf of pocket when I came in previously. This was misleading and deceptive conduct but unfortunately I didn't have Lee write down the quote that she made for me so I didn't have proof. If you go in to an Optical Superstore, I recommend that you either record everything they say or have them write down any quote so that you can hold them to it. They are very weasley in their salesperson style and try to make you feel stupid - horrible experience.
Optical Superstore Strathpine
I recently purchased two pairs of glasses at this store, after selecting two frames I had my eye test with a pleasant enough young lady. When I went to collect my glasses the prescription was not right for me however the optometrist suggested that I take them home and try them out before returning the following week for a retest. As I suffer from occipital neuralgia and headaches, I found the frames heavy and uncomfortable so when I returned the following week I asked to change the frames. My request was referred to the manager who would only a...llow me to change for a cheaper frame which meant I would have been out of pocket $100 on each pair. The reason stated was that there was no defect in the frames but simply my own preference. I found his business practice and customer service questionable at best. I have no intention of returning to any Optical Superstore in the future. I have had no follow up after sales call from them, which I have received in the past from other stores.
The optical superstore Chadstone
I have my eyes tested and glasses made there, but always found the right lens makes everything appears to be double. I expressed my concern to them as I have my previous pair of glasses made by them as well. But they always said it took time for me to to get used to the new pair of lenses. One female optometrist retested for me and found the correct prescription for my right eye. Today I went back to pick up my pair of glasses after I received their phone call and was going to make an after care eye appointment, as told with that female optometrist, who was honest and gave me correct prescription. However, I got told by a male staff that she got re-allocated to Adelaide. I felt chilly at the moment...
Extremely poor service
I just walked in and looked around and decided to book an appointment for an eye test that was definitely due. I usually go around my local shops so as to support local businesses, but since I was already in the shopping center I thought why not!
My opinion of this business is they were disinterested in me as a customer and they were not friendly at all. Maybe a smile on there faces and a, “hello,” would have left a better impression!
When I returned to have my test same thing! Cold reception and even after my test when I had to select my...glasses the receptionist couldn't be bothered showing too much interest and I got the feeling she just grabbed any pair off the shelf she could find! When it came time to pick up my pair of brand new glasses, I walked right up to the counter and she said, “yes!,” I then told her I was here to pick up my new glasses and then silence … as she stared right at me and not even uttered a word until I figured out that I had to read here mind! No, “hello how are you today?” Or, “how may I help you today?” “Oh, OK and what name was that under?”
The Optical Superstore Cairns, very unsatisfactory service.
I recently decided to purchase new prescription glasses and The Optical Superstore was convenient and seemed to stock some nice reasonably priced frames and they also advertised cheaper options for prescription glasses. All was going well after having a eye test and ordering frames which I tried on in the shop a few times. On receiving my new glasses I tried them on and found I could not see clearly, I was then told that this was because my prescription had changed and that my old glasses were a stronger prescription and if I wore them for a wh...ile my eyes would get used to the new strength lenses. I did not take the glasses and returned later on in the week to have my eyes retested. I was told my prescription was correct and that the problem must be the fitting. The glasses were sent away to be refitted. Initially they seemed ok after the lenses were refitted but after wearing them for a few days and having to go back and have the frames adjusted a few times I have ended up with sore eyes every time I wear the new glasses. I have been back to try and work out what the problem is and have been treated very badly. I have been told I have no other options but to wear the glasses that hurt my eyes and frames which do not fit correctly. These were not cheap frames nor cheap lenses. I have never had such problems with my glasses before using Optical Superstore and I have never had such poor customer service. I will never recommend this store to anyone, they deserve no stars. These people provide a very important health service to the public but do not take responsibility for their mistakes, they actually make their customers feel like they are to blame for any issues they have with their purchase. Very poor customer service
