16+ years old - still like new
Rectangular shape self-inflating mat, 4cm approx thickness. Orange & brown full length (198cm). Trusty old camping mattress used many many times. This was a quality purchase that I am about to donate onto the next generation. Still comfortable to sleep on (I'm 48), so easy to inflate - just roll out & a few puffs of air to top op. Quiet too (unlike some new types). Rolls up quite well for car camping/family holiday. There is certainly smaller out there for backpacking light but you won't get this level of comfort. Only donating as we need extra mats & I'll go a little wider next time. Still love this mat & this brand.
Therm-a-rest Trail lite mattress (Full length)
After 5 years the mat is still going strong. No air leaks or problems so far. Note that the mat has always been stored in a genuine Therm-a-rest trail-lite stuff bag when not in use. The mat has never been used directly on the ground, always with a tent floor. These mats are pricey and mine did not come with a stuff bag which I think is essential if you want to avoid damage.
The mat is as compact as a foam mat and much more comfortable and only a little more weight.Thermal insulation was very good.
They are not as comfortable as thicker (bulkier & heavier) types and not as compact as soe of the minimilist 3/4 style pads. They will not suit people who want the ultimate in light weight or those that seek perfect comfort but they will suit many people who want a balance between the two.
Better comfort for the same packing size as a foam mattress
Did not come with stuff sack!!!
