excellent design - so far bullet proof
I mow acres of parkland and used to do it on an Australian designed and built Cobber out front deck with hydrostatic drive; I thought nothing could touch it. It was 25 years old and when the repairs got too much, I bought an as new Toro Groundsmaster 7200 and what a surprise;it is beautiful and works like a good mower should. On top of that, the design is very well thought out and built like a Sherman tank. There are things that can be improved; I fitted an Engineair precleaner and would like to see top of deck cleaning made easier. I also foam...filled the front castor wheels and made labyrinth seals for the axles to prevent grass wrap on the axles. The biggest thing I noticed about this mower when doing my research was the solidity of the driveline and the airflow through the mower; grass does not build up inside the engine/hydro pumps compartment and this is important. Everything stays cool even when tackling grass over a foot high and turning it into "lawn" in one pass. The deck gear box could be a bit bigger and easier to check and service but I am sure Toro will get to these things as they keep improving the product; very happy to recommend the mower.
