Still fighting for council approval after 12 months
Many issues during build. Plans changed 4 times and was offered things and sizes that were not available. Concreters showed up but had no slab specs from totalspan, kit delivered to front lawn a week before slab was laid so blocking access for machines, when shed was built it was close (200mm) from the fence so walls should have been pre fabbed however frame went up and then I was asked to remove the fence, I told them they could, got consent from neighbors, came home next day to find sheets screwed off from the inside with 50mm tek screws, onl...y 2 screws per sheet for the part of the sheet obscured by the fence. When I complained about the lack of quality they said they thought it would be fine because its between the fence and shed so not seen. Had to replace all sheets that side. Roller door was wrong (too small) so couldnt be fitted causing another 3 week delay while a new one was made. When finally finished and signoff was sought the shed failed. Why? Originally asked for 3.6m high. Approved for 3.5m high. Finished height 3.66m. Still waiting for a resolution a year later. Terrible communication and terrible customer service.
I was at my wits end with a certain mob from northern Victoria . First up they wanted full payment for the job , instead I wanted to pay the deposit then pay the balance on completion , much to their annoyance.
I had the concrete laid and early in the morning on the third day the plummer came around said '' I wanna put this shed up ''. I said '' Sorry it's too early , let the concrete cure and come back in a week''. He then stormed off in a huff .
After they finished erecting the shed there was supposed to be a final inspection of their work...which never happened so I took it upon myself to do the job for them . Dented sheeting , tech screws falling out , missed areas where the sheeting should have been screwed down but wasn't , areas where they missed the supports with the tech screws , and finally the guttering on one side was ready to fall off . The roller door was a horror story in itself , a specialist as per contract was supposed to conduct the job but Totalspan took it upon themselves to do the job . The roller door was too low so vermin and birds could easily enter . There was a 25 millimetre gap at the bottom on one side so when it rains , water flows inside .Lastly the roller door brackets were held on by six lousey 15 millimetre tech screws on each side . It felt flimsy and unsafe so I called an out an independant roller door specialist and he viewed the work and just stood there shaking his head looking dumbstruck . It was a Monday and he said he would be back on Thursday but Tuesday morning he returned citing it was an urgent saftey issue . In concluding pity I cannot give minus 5 stars seeing my last call to them resulted in in them washing their hands of the whole saga
TotalSpan Capalaba: Arrogant. Failed to provide a quote
We had [Name Removed] (TotalSpan Capalaba) visiting our property mid-Dec 2018 with an intention to inspect the site and provide a quote for a single carport. We've given clear criteria what we wanted (as to any other contractor on that matter) but got treated like untermensch receiving '...it'll cost you $10k you know' upfront from [Name Removed] who displayed such arrogance and condescending attitude during his visit, we were astounded that a sales rep like this could be employed by the company. We we promised to be supplied with a quote which was never provided. Needless to say, had 2 other local reputable carport builders visiting the site and quoting exactly 1/2 the price of TotalSpan Capalaba. Never looked at these clowns again.
My advice, stay away from this service!!!! My experiences were very poor with Totalspan Canberra from the planning stage; to works provided; to product delivered. This business has no respect for its customers, nor does it stand by its services and products. I was outright denied information I was entitled to as a consumer, including contract agreements in writing and costings, and Totalspan amended the contract without my knowledge or consent to include costs for services/materials I did not request. The concreting was not as specified and wa...s not of acceptable standard. There were constant breaches to the contract by Totalspan, which was of no concern to management. I chose to go with another service for my shed, and am so glad I did. The new service (The Shed Company) well exceeded Totalspan's customer service and product quality. Altogether I was out of pocket by over $3,000 by this move, but it was well worth it. I would advise, do not enter any contact with this service provider.
We went with totalspan Logan. Never again would I use this company. He says one thing and changes it later. Now we have one huge eyesore of a carport at the front of our house that isn’t what we picked out with the cut cost trimmings they used. If I wanted all galvanised I would of asked for that. Do not use totalspan Logan if you want a nice looking carport. And watch when the cleaner comes as they went in my backyard uninvited and broke plants in my garden as the owner of the company wanted the downpipes that we paid for to re sell.
Total Span - Total Rubbish
Quality and Service both poor.
12 months after build still unfixed problems. Had to get someone else to fix them.
They do not deliver what they promise.
Excuses like It is normal for garage doors not to open or close properly !
Workmanship - cut corners to save <$5
Do not use them.
They thought that they were the only shed builders in Brisbane. Asked for quote, they just sent some standard one in and than called to push for sales. Sorry you lost a big business already.
At least they got the colour right.
Multiple no call no shows for delivery resulted in huge losses of having to pay builders that were on site and couldn't work. Kit arrived and was missing fundamental parts. Response from Totalspan was "Unfortunately its not a perfect world". Seriously?! Will never use again and already have deterred a dozen or so people in 2 days from using them. Tens of thousands in revenue lost in a few days. All because they wouldn't go above and beyond to resolve something that was their fault. Seems to be the short sighted attitude in most companies nowadays. Shame.
Don't buy from total span bundamba beware
Bad service bad workmanship always chase owner up.. had to contact QBCC to get action poor product beware ....contacted total span to get a quote on a 6x9 shed owner came out measured up and quoted... came across a nice guy said that they would do everything! They said that we did not have to do anything and they would organise everything.. i thought great as i am not very handy. . . What a big mistake.. beware... shed erector dropped 1st roller door and broke it... it took over 12mths for the owner to come and collect the old broken roller do...or....got a letter from the certifier that he was retiring and that the shed had not had its final inspection but did not physically receive the letter until he actually retired, no courteous phone call nothing. Contacted the certifier he wiped his hands of the job, he said contact the shed company contacted the owner he said that i would have to pay the certification fee again to get it finalised.... shed was leaking after so out comes the owner and just uses silicon.... poor.
TotalSpan Canberra Runaway
3 Months till it was put into council, Every excuse under the sun as to why, Blaming his staff etc. Continual mistakes and problems when they did start, 2 Days after it was erected the front beam started to collapsed and they had to put a temporary support under the front to prevent total failure. another 2 mouths before it was rectified. Owner accepted no responsibility. Very poor service & product.
Getting Totalspan Canberra to complete the knockdown / rebuild of our garage was the worst decision I have made in ownership of 5 houses covering 40 years. They started the build two weeks late ..and finished 3 months late. The owner of the business was absolutely ineffective in communicating or listening. The tradesmen weren't good at their job. The Project Manager / Salesman couldn't manage the project. There was a 3 week delay after the installers cut the long panels to fit the shorter spaces and then had none to do the longer ends. The roof...had to come off to lay the insulation that didn't arrive with the kit - another 3 week delay after trying to sneak a very bodgy retrofit past us. The retrofit itself took about 3 weeks to get done after the initial "where is the insulation?" phone call. Co-ordinating replacing the existing roller door and adding a panel was a step too hard, so we eventually opted for a new door just to get the job finished and Totalspan out of our hair! Poor communication, poor management, poor quality tradesmen, no customer service or satisfaction.
Poor product Poor after service
We purchased a shed through total span at Strathpine. We were told since we had 4 roller doors and a personnel door that all the locks would be the same. Once installed we had been given 5 different keys and 5 different locks, after calling them and asking why we didn't get the one key to all 5 doors, we were told if it's not on the quote it's not their problem. The shed has been up for 6 weeks and after a weekend of wild weather one of the garage doors had ripped out and was not saveable. We contacted them again to see what to do and once agai...n we were told it's not their problem. All the wind rating was taken in to account when we bought the shed so it should withhold the amount of wind we had on the weekend. It's obvious to us that total span don't support the quality of the product once it is paid for and erected. We were hung up on and spoken to like we were children. POOR service POOR product. I would NEVER recommend dealing with this company.
No customer service
Dealing with Totalspan Morayfield (same owners for Strathpine) has been the most disgusting service I've ever dealt with. No communication, has taken over 5 weeks to build a shed which could have been completed within 1 week. Subcontractors work less then 4hours a day. Arrive at 7am & have packed up & left by 11am on the days they decided to show up. Totalspan take no responsibility and have shown their serious lack of business ethics in any way. Passing blame to others, not responding to formal written complaints, rude disgusting attitude & not willing to help with anything. Will never recommend this franchise ever again and I will go out of my way to deter anyone I know from ever using them!
We signed up with Totalspan in Nerang because they promised to have our shed ready within a specific time frame, this was the deal breaker.
Once signed there was limited communication, it was not finished on time as promised, invoices had to be paid beforehand, they ran 6-8 weeks late with no apologies ever.
The owner is a bad communicator (a rather nice word for being rude and ignoring us).
No, we cannot recommend them at all!
Stay clear of these guys
Do not even bother with these guys! They own Strathpine too! Took far too long to build my carport. Forced me to remove the old carport which I double checked as it would mean 100m2 of water would have no drainage if it rained. They stated the builder would be there any time in the next 2 weeks and it had to be removed. Took over 3 months to build from them telling me this. Had 3 major storms where I was outside bucketing water from under my house. Caused major cracks to 6 brand new internal walls, flooded under my house and buckled my brand ne...w front door. Made excuses for everything and ended up refusing to answer emails. Extremely unimpressed with their customer service and eventually had to instigate a legal team, and of course the next day they turn up to build. Spoke to other people after signing the contract and was laughed at because these guys are known to be terrible! At everything!
