I don’t believe so because of a model update and extra air bags ring your local dealer service department

Will a 2018 hilux tub fit a 2012 hilux

1 answer
Peter S.
Peter S.

It will but the contours of the tub and cabin are slightly different which shows when the tub is bolted up. The mounting holes are exactly the same so the tub will go straight on but the petrol cap sits low because of the wider late model tub. You will need to lengthen the wires to the tail lights and the tailgate brake light and the existing number plate light fittings are different.

is a 2012 toyota hilux safe to drive on the highway at a speed o 140 km with a family can some one pls tell? thank you

Are you driving a 2wd or 4wd.Safety is paramount when driving and your main concern would be handling and heavy braking. I dont believe that a Hilux or other ute would do either of these very well at that speed. If an animal suddenly ran in front of you your chances of avoiding it would be pretty minimal without rolling the vehicle as your centre of gravity is higher than a car. Most people would say you don't value your family very much to drive at that speed.

Hey guys, I love my hilux it's a 2014 duel cab and only had it for 12 months but the boots on the steering column managed to get tears for some reason and stuffed the steering column and apparently it's not covered under warranty because it's caused internal damage. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and should it really cost me $2100 to fix from a dealership?

So mutch for the unbreakable hiluxe... I had a hole in just one boot and they said $450 to replace boot. I told them I was going to tell the hole of Australia on line about the Unbreakadle hilux,, they fixed it for half that if I shut my mouth and said that they would do me a deal on a bull bar.Just had my 6 month capped service and you test it nothing was said about the bull bar,, So the moto is do not take you unbreakable hilux off the free way.. I did not damage my steering arm becouse the grees did not all run out. On buying the hilux brand new in 2013 they should have said ,,great truck but do not take in off the free way ore you stand a good chance of a $500 bill for each boot. Darren Flaherty

I was very tempted to take it further, ame even go online about it, even been told to call head Toyota and complain about the matter but still a bit undecisive about it I was told that the boots were cheap but holy hell I deffinetly don't want to have to replace them now

Is a 2012 hilux SR Diesel really as reliable and you breakable as some say? I'm after a good reliable truck and the ones in my price range have around 60 000kms on the clock. I'd love to get 400 000 out of one. Is this realistic?

The 3ltr diesel is reliable & if serviced properly should give you a good run. The only issue is if it's been in the mines, has it done 60k hard driving or has it been used as a commuter/workhorse/weekender. Check all these things first, have it checked before buying.

I have NFI about the diesel but I have a v6 petrol approaching 400ks

it is easy to get 400,000 out of a hilux without any problems at all. just get it serviced ever 10,000 - 20,000 km and you wont have a problem. i have never ever had a problem with ours and it has done hundreds of thousands of kms

Hey fellas!
Quick question!!!
Had car in high 4wd then went back on the road so put it in 2wd and my traction control light is still on turn car off and still on any ideas 2015 hilux n70?

Two thoughts, and they are thoughts only as I dont have this model.

Do you have a seperate traction control button you have inadvertently pushed or left on?

Before letting a dealer near it, I would try just disconnecting the battery for 30 secs just to reste everything.

I've got a tinny noise that just started happens in or out of gear more so when warm
Ally tray xtra cab 4x4 2013

Have you checked the centre drive shaft coupling? If it's making noise, rolling when engine off, it's in drive-line somewhere, including transfer case. The tray will amplify the noise, like a big speaker, especially if the tray/chassis brackets are loose. Check all the bolts, tighten, lay some weight in the tray, roll at speed on smooth rd, you might be able to pinpoint where sound is coming from. Other than that, see a reputable mech/tech.

I have a 2014 SR5 and I recently got an ECB winchable Bullbar with a winch, a set of 24v fyr lyt spot lights, coupletec electronic rust protection and a razor back canopy and am really happy with the set up but when I drive it over 70km I can hear deep howling sound. I thought it could be coming from the wind going through the cab and tub but I covered that area in some wide tape then took it for a run and the noise is still there. Does anyone know why and where this noise is coming from?

Hi, I think you are on the right track with the wind noise, similar to mine with Alpha canopy.

Have you put more aggressive tyres on?
Are the tyre pressures too high?
Has the Winch Bar mounting bolts been checked for being tight? Slightly loose could be a culprit.
Do you have a roof rack. They often cause a lot of wind low howls. Especially if there is a ladder on them :)

I have a 2012 SR 5 42000 K, gearbox rebuilt under warranty, still very notchy going in to 2nd and selecting reverse at times not easy. Have been back to dealer to express concerns and after they tested and adjusted the clutch travel and flushed fluid said all ok. We are still not happy and where to now ? It's a great vehicle other than the gearbox/clutch. We have invested money in the form of canopy, draws duel battery system and it tows our camper with ease. All services have been carried out before time , warranty expires this month.

The Japanese manual gearboxes can be very fussy on oil spec particularly in cooler weather. Talk to your trusted independent mechanic about the gearbox issue with regards to alternate oil ( meeting same spec) to fix the notchy issue. There are specific oils to address this. http://lubematch.shell.com.au

Years have went past / I don't think they would be the same / if you are experiencing major problems with your engine I suggest you upgrade to a newer version vehicle or get a total engine rebuild at a quality trustworthy honest and reliable mechanical shop or a race engine specialist

It has 380,000 on it an it hasent missed a beat till now I'm gonna just rebuild it I think. It blew up by having no water in the radiator it grabed 2 pistons. I had the injectors checked an there the factory ones still in it and there is nothing rong with them wich was a surprise to ther apprantly there wat goes rong with them first

brian
brian

Sorry to hear the engine blew up / you could also put a totally new motor as well though if you do from now on make sure you put quality anti freeze liquid anti boil liquid in the radiator opposed to just water @ the green is good though if pay more money the red one is better.

I suppose as long as the engine block has not warped or been damaged it should be alright for a rebuild.

I put petrol into my diesel how can I empty the diesel tank?

1 answer
dljacko
dljacko

I think the only way I would do it with my LN106 would be to disconnect the filler hose at the tank and syphon it out from there. If you have run the vehicle for any distance you may have a few problems with the injectors and the injector pump as it relies on the lubricating properties of the diesel to keep the seals etc. working properly. Insurance companies have written off diesel vehicles that have been run on petrol as they consider the modern car too expensive to clean out and repair.
