Good vehicle but.
This is a nice vehicle to drive, very spacious, smooth and fast for an SUV.
Fuel consumption is ok but not brilliant around town. For a base model you get enough to keep you happy. Toyota reliability went out the door under warranty, full $8000 auto replacement. Toyota fixed it so it says volumes for Toyota.
Klugers are made in the US now, not Japan and it shows, probably accounts for the transmission.
Services are not cheap if you use the dealers and follow logbook schedules. The car has done 100000 kms and has had front rotors replaced, automatic never failed, just developed a clonk which wasn’t normal.
There's a reason you see them everywhere!
We were in the market for a larger family car which had 7 seats and a petrol engine. After looking around we found the Kluger to be the best fit what we needed.
We have owned the vehicle for 9 months and I have no regrets about the purchase. We can easily fit 3 car seats and the kids have alot of legroom in the second row.
Fuel economy around town is a little average at about 15 L/100kms but that can be expected with a heavy car.
Fuel economy on the highway has surprised me though, getting down to as low as 8 L/100km.
Purchased in November 2020 at Toyota Dealers for $58,000.00.
Classy, beautiful and reliable
Very reliable classy car for all your daily commutes. It has every function you need. Smooth running. Attractive and everyone comments on that with you. Strong safe but cosy. Service program is well organised.
Purchased in February 2018 at Western Toyota.
The car I said I would never buy
i have just bought a Kluger, the car I said I would never buy- but I am glad I did. My deal breaker on a new car was a full size spare tyre- that gets rid of about 80% of the possibilities.
Having owned 4WDs for most of my life, Including most recently a 120 series Prado, I realised that I had not done any serious off-roading for a long time, nor was I likely to. But I still wanted reliability, room to move and that full size spare- enter Kluger. A good looking car these days especially in Crystal Pearl and enough mumbo to make highway travel a breeze. The recent update has the Kluger swarming with safety feature. The only one I am not sure about is adaptive cruise control.
Early days but this is very easy to live with.

Amazing family car
I use this car mainly for family transport, my everyday car. It has cotton service once as we just purchased it just over 6 months now which Toyota does every 6 months
Purchased in November 2018 at Toyota Dealers.
LOVE this beautiful vehicle!
After owning an older 2005 Kluger we definitely needed an upgrade! Even though we loved our old Kluger we still test drove every 7 seater 4WD/AWD in our price range, just to see if there was anything that was now better. But the new Kluger GXL came out head & shoulders above the rest! It was by far the most spacious inside and handled the road better than the rest.
And a year later we’re still of the same opinion!! It’s fantastic! An absolutely beautiful car to drive, amazing open road fuel economy compared to our old Kluger, and handles ever...
I’m absolutely in love with the 2018 kluger!!! I had it on hire for a month or two a few months ago and I must say it’s by far the most fancy four wheel drive I’ve ever driven. I’d highly recommend it to anybody with a large family as they have fold away back extra seats as well!!
Smooth drive and very well thought of interior! The purchasing process was made extremely easy through Patterson Cheney Dandenong. The Kluger is very spacious and great for long drives. I would highly recommend the Kluger to anyone who has a large family or owns dogs. The middle console is my favourite due to the large space it provides.
Questions & Answers
Brand new car. It seems battery discharged very quickly. Every time I need to jump start.
Even if I drive more than an hour today, next I couldn' t start the car, I need jump start. Dealer checked and said there is no issues.
Anybody facing similar issue.
Hi, I just bought Kluger GX AWD 2018 model. I want to install navigation system in it and want to change the Ac panel and want to install climate control panel in it. Is it possible? If yes then how and where can I do it?
Hi, I don't own one but am looking at buying one. I am confused as it says the GX doesn't come with sat nav. However looing at Carsales.com, I have come across 3 2018 model GX's that do. So either there is an option to upgrade the panel or some come with it. Don't know if this helps.
