Does anybody know if a 2019 VDJ76 bonnet would fit onto a 2010 VDJ76? As I have asked a Toyota and other service centres and nobody seems to be able to answer my question.
Cheers Vic
Hi, wondering if I ought to remove the snorkel air intake altogether, not planning on river crossings or submerging the 76 . Thoughts ?
If your not planning on doing any water crossings. You'd be better off leaving the snorkel on as it provides and elevated intake which will provide cleaner and cooler air. You can also consider changi...
Read moreng the snorkel head to a ram design that will push air inMotor cuts out when switching to auxilliary fuel tank???
Would say there’s a blockage in the fuel line before the fuel switch solenoid or a faulty solenoid itself , it’s located inside the chassis rail at rear of cab or if it’s a troopy half way down on passenger side
Many thanks for your prompt reply.
Check battery first. It may be on its way out.

Hi, I have a 79 series dual cab landy, I’ve got turbo flutter very often now, it trips the engine light with the code p1248, how can I stop this from happening? Is there a bi-pass or blow off valve I could fit? Just after what Are my options and which is best? TIA
Hi yaknowit just wondering if you found the cause of the turbo flutter. Mine is currently doing this and we have narrowed it down to vacume issues just trying to pin point exactly what the issue is
mine does the same but when it flutters the boost gauge goes down to -20
Having the same issue with mine, any ideas or answers would be appreciated
my 2007 workmate turbo v8 diesel started making tapping noises which then turned into a lot of clunking and banging but settled once stationary idling but a persistant knock was still in the top left area of my motor? I had filled tank only 35kms earlier. could it be dirty fuel and if so what should i do. currently to scared to drive it at all. Darren ps if fuel needs to be drained would it be okay to use in my 80 series 1hz engine?
The vacuum pump driven off the LHS cam can get noisey, you can hear them through the catch can with the lid off or through the passenger side rocker cover midway along with a stethoscope. Put your foot on the brake & see if the noise changes tone.
I replaced the starter motor in my 2011 VDJ79 4.5 single cab now it won’t start have fuel at the rail I’m assuming it must be something electrical any ideas?
I have a 2011 v8 landcruiser single cab just wondering how u get the evaporator core out. Thanks
I cleaned mine (2007) in-situ by sawing a hole in the discharge shroud and spraying the core with engine degreaser then boiling water. That washed out the gunk which then blocked the drain tube, but ...
Read morethat was easily if dirtily fixed by poking a wire up from below.G'day. I have a 5year old VDJ at the cattle station I work for, that has lost power. The electric plug in on the top, when unplugged while idling, on 4 of them makes no difference to the idle speed. The outside 2 on the drivers side and the inside 2 on the passengers side are at fault. There appears to be no voltage going to them. Is there a fuse problem or some kind of module at fault? It has been worked as the Bore wagon for a few years before I arrived and I am a bit scratchy on modern motor vehicle electronics they put in cars these days. Being "old school", any ideas?
Hi, I believe the old school has the best quality.
More features, more faults.
Two EDUs controll injectors, each one does two injectors either side. One does 2,3,5 & 8 the other does 1,4,6 & 7
Bought meself a 1992 75series ute, has a aftermarket turbo, sounds pretty good thru the snorkel but is there any way of making it whistle or sound any louder?
Hi all
After starting the 70 series v8 turbo diesel
I hold my foot flat it revs Slowly to 4000rpm then drops slowly to 1500 rpm . It was fine before we changed the starter motor ?
Any ideas
GOD BLESS
Hi .I have as 2017 vdj , at 46000ks the oil pressure gauge went from just over half to just over a quarter and doesn't change with revs , Toyota say that some engines are doing this when they free up and it is ok. Wouldn't know if it wasn't a gal with oil pressure gauge, any comments appreciated thanks
The oil pressure gauge in my 2012 was always about 1/4 at idle and went over 1/2 with an increase in revs.
After travelling over 135,000klms since new this never changed.
I would get it looked at a...
Thanks have done that, all good maybe sensor
I had the same problem. Rather than trust "expert" advice on something so critical, I switched to thicker oil.
Hi all I have a 2011 vdj79 single cab 150k on it and I have noticed a noise like dry bearing from left hand side of the motor and recently the wastegate has been making a screech noise sometimes. has anyone else had problems with the turbo and a rough cost associated?thanks
G'day, have a A76 Series Landcruiser, fitted with an engine data scanner. It is reading 5 pound boost max via the OBD. Standard boost gage is reading 10 pound boost max. EDS on idle is showing 80 bar, running to 130 bar max boost. Could someone with EDS on their 4.5 V8 cruiser confirm their boost pressure on idle.
Not sure you have the right settings or reading it correctly??? 80 bar is 1160psi or thereabouts or do you mean 80kpa????
Boost pressure at idle on these should be zero. ...
Read more You may need to calbrate the EDS unit following the instructions?Hello, I have a vdj79 and I have an eds plugged in. The Eds shows boost pressure in cmhg, at idle mine reads 77-80, this is around 14.7-15 and a bit psi, my boost max out at 190cmhg, this is around 24...
Read more psi when you subtract the 14.7psi at idle, my Ute is slightly tuned so your readings are about normal for standard 10-11psi, hope this helpsboost should be 1 atmosphere on idle
Hi all. I am considering fitting a dual exhaust system on my 200 series 2012 T/D cruiser for several reason incl better breathing for engine, added performance whilst towing a van and of course---better exhaust note for the V8. Can anyone comment on this. Many thanks. Graeme.
Hello graeme
Great idea ...
Read more I had similar work done to my79 series by roo systems, google them to find the range of modifications for your 200 series. If your model has a dfp then you will be very impressed with their video of results achieved. Another issue that really impressed me wjth roo systems is their quality of good advise and after sales service, anywhere in australia. CheersWhitecloud
Many thanks for the info mate, I will check the video and contact them before deciding.
Cheers
Blackie
Hey Graeme,
the Manta exhausts are very popular and are available Aust wide. They have the best range and quality by far! I have a twin 3" into 4" on my 2016 200 Sahara and very impressed! 1300310330
