Good

Very nice car to drive. Feels very safe and sturdy. It has great ability on even the roughest off-road driving.

The Grande model comes packed with features. The built-in GPS it comes with works well even in long tunnels and the sound system is great.

It guzzels way too much petrol though. Breaks require replacing regularly if the car is used in urban areas a lot.

Its a big car, but still decent sized and easy to drive compared to bigger 4WDs.
8 seats, drives off-road very well, comfortable. Grande comes with HEAPS of features, front and rear air con.
Fuel consumption is VERY high. Ours is sitting at an average of 19.1L/100km after almost 5 years of use.

Good

It was driven throughtout western Queensland on highway and off-road. Had dual tanks fitted which was necessary even though it was fairly economical
A reliable medium sized 4WD - the right balance of power and weight that performed really well in sand and mud. Good gearing ratios for up and down hill.

Very comfortable inside and got all of the features of a family car inside
Constantly cracked windscreens even with a little bit of chassis flex off-road. Bought it second hand and Toyota thought the frame was slightly bent and when off-road it flexed a bit too much and cracked the windscreens

The ultimate mid range tourer with real ability

There is not another 4WD on the market that can touch the legendary Toyota reliability and performance.

We have taken our Prado around Australia and on 100's of weekend and longer trips, most of which involve some elements of serious 4WDing.

Comfort, reliability, and real 4WD ability, but still capable of being a good daily drive for the times in between.
Everything........ Capable, reliable, well finished, economical family transport
I want it to last forever...... still don't like the 150 upgrade Show details

Excellent

Its an excelent 4WD and family car if you want something that can go anywhere, this is excent for in town as you can just drive over all the road edges and dont have to back out of car parks or for in the bush where it copes fine with the mud and rough dirt roads, all in all its great
Space, 4WD capability and it actually drives like a car and not the old rough 4WD
I really cant say that there is a bad side, except that Im short and cannot reach the top to wash it

Excellent

I have had mine now for alnost three years and it has been great - taken the family right across Australia twice! very satisifed but Toyota genuine servicing is so so so expensive
The standard model of the Prado is much better equipped than its counterparts
The lack of visibility when reversing because of the spare tyre

Good

great family car best car we have owned plenty of storage room easy to drive compared with same and bigger 4wds feels very safe
we own a 2003 glx 3.0L diesel its a great car especialy for a big family who have a busy and active lifestyle . It sends most of its time as mums shopping trolley (like most 4wd's) but great in any conditions constant 4wd is a must black ice slippery coditions or off road no problem it will go any where 180 litre fuel tank is fantastic for long trips + fuel economy is good for its size
rear vision could be better when a small car is close behind can be difficult to see young children sittig in 3rd row even when restrained can reach storage compartments poor leg space in 3rd row (only comfy for very small children Show details

Excellent

Good quality built from a manufacturer that is known for its quality product. For such a large vehicle, the drive quality is excellent, with reasonable response on accelerating. Plenty of power from the engine that delivers as and when required. Essential features such as anti-skid braking and air bags are present.

Large capacity fuel tank.
Toyota. A solid product from a good manufacturer.

A reasonably fresh look that doesn't look outdated in a few years.

Good road clearance.

Good drive quality.

ABS.

Air bags are present
Petrol consumption is on the high side, particularly when driving around in the city/suburbs.

Yet anothe 4x4 with the Toyota Toughness. Performs head and shoulders above other 4x4's in its category. Has all the necessary gear such as Hill start, hill decent, 2nd start. Good towing capacity with loads of room. A very good and practical 4x4 all around.
A great 4x4. Excellent drive both on and off road. Driver seat well positioned with good views in all directions. Interior is practical and comfortable and spacious. very easly get 7-8 people without cramming. 180 Litre fuel tank gives good range. V6 with Dual VVTi produces good power and engine torque. Design of the 4x4 is very unique and not too over the top. Well priced 4x4
Not a thing

Good

I like Toyota 4x4's they are usually quite well designed and presented but the popularity of Toyota for commercial use with its range like the Hiace sort of sets it in that category, regardless of some of their fancy Hiace trucks to appeal to the young masculine male demographic they still appeal as a work horse and not a leisure vehicle especially the amount of White Toyotas on the road.
Its a 4WD, live sports utility 4x4's
Its a Toyota and Toyota are curently rated amongst the most expensive for service and parts and they are only mid-level general consumer products...

Rear vision is a bit limited, headlights aren't great and the in glass aerial get's interference pretty easily. Show details

The extra seats in Grande are quiet comfortable, the adjustable air conditioning in the rear seats and in the very back makes it very comfortable when there are 8 peop;e in the car.
Toyota Prado are a great car, comfortable, very good visability, love the seat adjustability. Great fuel consumption
They should have a rear camera for rear visability. Show details

The new Prado which is to be released in a few weeks look great, not only does the new 3 door have a 3 tonne towing capability, It has everything and more than a big 4x4. Toyota have really out done themselves with the CAPPED servicing for 3 years with all new vehicles. They might be a little more expensive than competitors, but look at what you are getting, capped servicing, top rated safety ratings, AMAZING resale and so much more. I cant wait to trade in my cruiser to get one.
Sporty feel with great features

I've to say that, Toyota Prado, is accessible for both personal and professional use. and with it comes along a great comfort the engine respond accordingly, and its heaviness create safety on the road, mostly for family people.
Toyota Prado is a great car, I mostly love its live sports utility 4x4's. It's a magnificent car, and well known for safety and comfort. My dad owned of those few years ago. And it feel help a lot mostly if you are family man.
Now, if you do have kids, you've got to do the hard work of making sure that the car doors are well close or open, since the itself is quiet heavy. and another thing is its fuel consumption.

Good

An excellent, well built 4WD that looks very good. I have a 2000 VX which has served me extremely well over the last 4 years.

I love the looks and it has heaps of power (4.0 litre petrol), but the only real gripe I have is that it is thirsty and the handling is pretty poor (although it is 2 tonnes of 4WD, so this is expected).

I would thoroughly recommend this vehicle and there are some good ones available 2nd hand.

I purchased about one month ago (new $58000 less trade), done three thousand kilometers... went over the great dividing range( 1100 hundred meters) pulling a 1550 kg caravan...too easy to forget it's there !...recommend for pulling power...most happy with it ....the 2006 has a less powerful engine so look for a 2007 Diesel not petrol.....check it out at the Toyota site .....
The three litre diesel turbo ....well built has nice solid feel , very good fuel useage 7.9lt per 100km Pulling a 1550kg van...!!
Can't think of any .....maybe the radio knob is a little too small thats all I can think of ...

The best of SUVs because it actually works in deserts of Dubai without any problems where BMW and Mercedes failed us, and great going over damavand rocky mountain touraine at unbelievable rigidity, again where both the Beemer and the Benz with stronger engines flunked. this was a real life test (not a magazine promotional ad paidby the manufacturer!)
Style, Power, Roominess, performance
Could have bit more space in the trunk, however in my opinion, all SUVs have this issue.

Absolutely awesome machine. I'm still in love with it, 2 years on. !!! Would advise anyone whose looking for a four wheel drive to test drive this vehicle. Apart from the above I can not fault it at all. Great for woman too :-) (If you boys would let them drive )
Comfrtable and easy to drive. I am a female and use it for Real Estate, as it looks great. Love the seating capacity. Plus it's terrific when I tow the van, you dont even know it's on the back. Great fun on the beach. An all round wonderful machine, that allows you to have a lifestyle. Sensational Toyota well done.
Its extremely thirsty. Dislike the fact that you cant adjust the bottom of my drivers seat. Also the rear door opens to the right. I think up would be much much better.

Just love the new car, and if toyota keep making such great cars, we will keep buying them. Good job toyota
We just brought a 2007 turbo diesel and I couldnt be happier. We had a 2002 petrol prado and it was very very very thirsty. Love the interior and exterior of the 2007 model. We love the prado so why change models when you are happy with the product and the servicing.
The service fees between dealers can be huge. I saved over $150.00 for just one service. Shop around for your services.

WE have bought out Prado Grande 2 weeks ago, 2nd hand, and we all love it. it is like riding in a lounge chair. I have a Chrysler PT, and now we fight over who takes the Prado. Very comfortable. QUESTION: Does anyone know how to upgrade the GPS, it needs to be upgraded, as we are in the country and there are alot of areas not on there.
Fantastic vehicle. So comfortable.
