A car that does its job
This is my daily driver.
Bought it just over 18 months ago, and over that time I've been getting 8.8 l/100km, which I can't really complain about. That's over a general mix of peak-hour traffic (17km each way) and easier weekend driving.
It has all the bells and whistles I need - active cruise control, AEB, rear camera, parking sensors, lane departure warning. The only thing I'd like would have been to include Apple Carplay/Android Auto. As it is I leave an iPod in the car, so all music is played off that. If I want to listen to something str...
Read moreeamed, it plays via bluetooth audio from my phone without a problem. The inbuilt GPS works, but it's just easier to use it from my phone. Have been taking it back to the dealer for servicing, as it's just easier. Have been happy with them so far, and capped-price servicing makes budget planning a bit easier.Purchased in April 2018 at Toyota Dealers.

My first Toyota & a very pleasant surprise overall!
In the last few years I have owned several different SUVs, including the Hyundai IX35, & Tucson, and the Mazda CX5. I changed brands again this time when I bought the 2018 Toyota Rav4 GXL automatic, in June with less 5000 kms on the Odometer.
I was impressed with its comfort, safety features and the huge amount of space when the back seats are down. It is the last model Rav4 from Toyota to have a CD player, which for me was a real plus!
The 2 Litre engine has plenty of power but at the same time is very economic on petrol - consumption av...
Read moreeraging far less than 7 litres per 100 kms on my local roads. Being automatic it is very smooth and so easy to drive in traffic. Responsive when extra power is necessary but content to cruise at 80 kms per hour on our local highways. Many safety features are standard with this model - far more than I have had in any of my previous cars. In heavy city traffic, this is indeed a bonus. Regular Toyota servicing is capped at only $180 each 6 months. It has the balance of its 3 year warranty but I am not anticipating any major problems as so far, it has been very reliable. The warranty runs till July 2021. Of course it has been overshadowed by the arrival of the new 2019 model, now available as a hybrid.Purchased in June 2019 for $31,000.00.

Love it! Perfect car!
I have this car for over a year. I bought it as a new car in 2018(the last generation of Rav4 before the new model was coming). Easy driving, great rare camera and smart mirrors. Everything in this car is perfect and it’s Toyota, it always keeps the value.
Purchased in July 2018 at Toyota Illawara for $33,500.00.

Great Vehicle with so many extras included
I had a RAV4 Cabrio back in 1997...?? when they first came on the market. I loved this vehicle. We needed to upgrade and required a larger vehicle so decided, due to our previous positive experience, to go with the RAV4 again. A great all round vehicle with so many extras included. Love the lane indicators on the side mirrors, great for when vehicles are in your blind spot. It also has a lane alarm that tells you if you are straying out of your lane, another great safety aspect. The anti dazzle rear view mirror is also great and something...
Read more i cannot do without at night. The seats are comfortable and its a great drive. My only disappointment is with the suspension. It is harder than I would have liked and not something that was really noticeable on a short test drive nor pointed out by the salesman when making our purchase. GREAT value vehicle and you cannot surpass the Toyota brand for reliability.Purchased in December 2018 at Toyota Dealers for $28,000.00.

Great SUV, exceeds expectations
Spent over 6 months reviewing online and test driving a range of mid-sized SUV's. Ended up buying the RAV4 due to this model being the new, 5th generation with stiffer sub-frame, lots of tech safety, Toyota's renowned (I have had several Toyota's over the last 4 decades) durability, low service costs. My concerns were:
1. Size of vehicle - the RAV4 has been getting larger over the last decade with each new model
2. Running costs and fuel efficiency.
We've had it 3 months now and couldn't be happier. Yes, it is a little larger than I would have ...
Purchased in June 2019 at Charlestown Toyota for $40,000.00.

Buy once and forget it!
Car has scored five stars and safety. Performance of car very good and safety features of very nice. Adaptive cruise control is very handy. Very good on the fuel. Running cost is one of the cheapest. It’s the best car I can ever have. Cost these little expensive than other companies.

Reasonably happy with car....
Looks good, drives good but lacks modern technology. I have a 2017 RAV4 which does not have all the modern features such as, lane sensors, front cameras etc you would expect from a new car. I think there's better value for money cars out there. I had a NIssan Qashqai before my Rav4 and I much preferred the Nissan.

Great medium size SUV
If your looking for a medium size suv then the rav4 is great. We ordered a new one and took it on long trips and its great on fuel. Never had any brake downs and any problems what so ever. The resale value holds very well to better then most car. Definitely value for money

excellent companion
First of all, i have very good driving experience and handling with RAV 4
For the interior, the legroom is very spacious
toyota gives capped price servicing ,so running cost is cheap.
To take everything into consideration, it is a very good car indeed and reliable on urban and rural driving

Good family car
Very good family car. Good on petrol and very spacious.
We have 2 kids under the age of 3 and this car is perfect for 2 car seats and a double pram in the back.
I love the leather dashboard and the keyless start button.
My wife drive is most of the time and It’s a peace of mind knowing this car is very safe for her and the kids.

Quite nice
I have this new RAV4 GXL CVT POST sept 2017 which has toyota safety sense pack included....few new additions to this gxl which I really love are adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, auto high low beam head lights...white LED lights( lights are simply amazing, when you are driving on freeway at night and you notice the lights of passing by vehicle, this RAV4 100% ultra white lights are treat to drive with, amazing Bluetooth integration, excellent voice on mic, people don’t complain for sound quality when you are talking...climate cont...
Read morerol is another amazing thing, folding mirrors good!!!! Inside rear view electric mirror with auto dimming, simply amazing....keyless entry awesome... In short they have packed this GXL very well What I really don’t like is engine power, may be toyota should have used 2.5L Camry engine as standard, why we have this 2L crappy engine with FWD, I don’t get it. Powered driver seat should have been standard, I had it in my basic 2008 Aurion. Auto side mirrors fold not possible with engine turn off... No 360 camera...Purchased in November 2017 at Toyota chatswood.

What an amazing car
Wow, this car is great, everything about it is great. Even the technology is easy to use, I blue toothed my phone in no time. Drives great, good on fuel, heaps of power, drives quiet. I am also impressed by the height of the vehicle. It's easy to get in and out.

Love my Rav
Awesome to drive, great high driving position - although you can lower the seat and look over the bonnet too. Very comfortable and safe feeling. tested the traction control, really does work!
It has fixed price servicing, which was a factor in deciding to buy a new car.
Road side assistance and warranty at 5 years but I would be upset if I needed to use either of those in that time.
Minor irritation with a wind problem behind the driver. Haven't been able to get Toyota to fix it yet. Hoping this service - 20,000 - will sort it out. A littl...
Read moree disappointing they hadn't managed to fix it but I do tend to get the car serviced at weekends because of my job. Less staff at the dealer ship. The paint work appears to chip a little too easily? I will get he paint protection next time. One chip has gone to the metal on the top of the wing. Performance is fine. I have the GLX 2.0 and find it can cruise at 110 no problems - without the sudden revving to accelerate up a hill as with previous cars I have owned.1 comment

I love my 2WD GXL RAV4 so much
I purchased my October 2016 build 2 wheel drive GXL RAV4 in December 2016. I currently owned a compact Toyota hatch and I was upgrading to a small SUV to achieve a higher driving position.
I'm not sure if it was because I already had a Toyota, but the car was perfect for me and I decided minutes after getting in for a test drive that I would buy the RAV4 - I immediately felt at ease and comfortable in the car which is a MAJOR factor for ME when buying a car. I chose the GXL model because it has awesome alloys, cruise control, auto wipers / li...

Sleek and great performance
Handles corners well. Looks good inside and out. Good sized boot with a handy mesh rack for small things or breakables with a privacy cover. Good legroom front and back. Fuel economy an average of 7.3 /100. Old style fuel cap lever on floor beside driver's seat. Toyota connect only works sometimes and needs to be logged in on phone before it will work. Navigation does not give enough information i.e duration and arrival time. Trip meter doesn't appear to work when Trip pressed. Apart from its faults I love to drive this vehicle and find myself driving more than before. Also love the keyless entry. ......so handy and practical.

Read moreown at the same dealership where i am now getting bad service..25000klms and they say I will need new tyres by next service. Upsell? Parking is a bit difficult as you cannot see the white lines and have to check reversing camera to straighten up. The sat nav is unreliable so use Google maps as a backup. Service is bad from Toyota and enough to turn you off ever thinking of buying again..Find out how Toyota RAV4 XA40 FWD 2.0L Petrol GXL compares to other Midsize / Medium SUVs

Great SUV, but could be better.
I purchased Toyota vehicle second time after driving Corolla in 2004. I believe my choice was great as I believe reliability of Toyota is still pretty strong. I chose 2.0 Petrol in middle range, and it does have audio with colour screen, bluetooth, few apps including Pandora (Music with mobile internet connection)and fuel (show the cheapest petrol station nearby). I really wish Toyota will have some update and add additional apps with toyotalink, which Pandora was only app added after I purchased this car in 2014.

Read morer, it has sport, normal, eco mode. it's powerful when it is set on Sport mode, but RPM go too much especially in highway. I love about Toyota service although I never tried other services, it has fixed service cost for 3 years/100,000KM whichever come first. Car run pretty good so far!Questions & Answers

What I would like to change - at night when the car is unlocked with the key fob, I would like the head lights to come on. No option for this.
