We are travelling from Australia to Canada and confused on which sim card to buy ? Mostly for calls within Canada but also to Australia along with some texts / sms and internet use if not too outrageous ?
Any advice very much appreciated.
Hi Karen, our SIM covers Canada and another 190 countries. The SIM has an Australian number so friends and family calling you only pay for a local call. You can call within Canada and back home to Australia. Calls are $1.00 per min - SMS $1.00 to send, free to receive, Data is $1.00 per meg. Our advice is to keep data roaming switched off at all times and only turn it on when you want to use data. SMS between TravelSIMs is free, this is really handy when travelling with someone.
How well does TravelSim work in USA. I am travelling through California, Nevada, Arizona,Utah and Colorado.
I have used in Asia and Europe and Pacific but not the USA.
I would think it would be fine in the USA.
I note that most communications and balances are reported in US dollars.
Hi Rosemary, the TravelSIM works in the US. 25c per min/sms/GB. We currently have a sale $15 for a starter pack.
I recently travelled to Hong Kong and used Travemsim as did my travel mate
We could call each other but not text ????
Hi Lynn, Can you please share your TravelSIM number so that we can investigate. There is a setting change required to your handset for SMS and I want to check if this was the problem. If not, this could be network related and I will escalate it to the network in Hong Kong for correction. Kylie @ TravelSIM
You mentioned that there was a flash sale recently. How do we know when you will have a sale? I need to buy 3 sims for our upcoming travels and the savings sound worthwhile.
We usually have flash sales on the website most Sundays however I can honour last Sundays sale and offer you a double pack for $30 and then you only need a starter pack for $25. Go to https://www.travelsim.net.au/Shop/ to see what offers we currently have. If you want to take advantage of the double pack just give us a call on 1300 851 676 and ask for Kylie.
We( family ) will travel to Japan , I order 2 sims to call and using data to each other in Japan ( not Australia ) .
Our questions :
1/ Will Travel sims work in Japan ?Call and data
2/The money i credit on those sims ,in case we are not finished all , what will happen ( any expires day ? )? Can we keep it there for next trip?
3/You ask us to activated those sim to get $5 bonus .So...do we need to put some money on the sim ? ( i saw it say $25 sim )
Hi Kim, Thanks for your query.
1. TravelSIM does work in Japan for calls, texts and data.
2. The credit does not expire for 6 months and we send a reminder when that period is getting close and you can refresh your credit for $5.This way you can use it for future trips.
3. The SIM costs ($25) to purchase and you receive a $5 credit. You can charge up your sim with $25, $50, $100 or $200. If you choose the $100 or $200 you get 10% bonus.
We had a flash sale over the weekend which offered 2 x SIMS for $30. I can honour that deal for you today. Please call 1300 851 676 and let the agent know that Kylie approved the flash sale for today.
Hi! Can you use the simcard if you are on a Telstra plan and going to Cuba ? Cheers Annika
To my knowledge, your phone must be unlocked to use overseas, it doesn't matter what plan you are on as you are not using their sim card. The travel sim I have only works in Zone 1 countries, not sure where Cuba fits in regarding zones. The team at Travelsim are awsome and are much more qualified to answer your query.
Hi Annika, Ann is correct, if your phone is unlocked you can use our TravelSIM. Check with Telstra as some phones are locked but a lot of new phones are not. The TravelSIM will work in Cuba, all rates are available at www.travelsim.net.au (scroll down to the rates calculator). If you'd like to give us a call, we are here 24/7 on 1300 851 676. Enjoy your holiday.
Hi. My daughter has a travel sim while she is in Europe, Austria at present. I am having trouble sending a text to her. I am confused as to what prefixes to send with number. Do I need a + at the start, 0011 or what?
So sorry for the late reply, hope you got through to her. If she has our new product (her number will start with 04) and you are calling from Australia you dial the number as it is, no need for an area code. If you are dialling from another country you need to dial +61 (drop the leading zero).
hi just want to ask where can i buy this sim?
You can purchase a TravelSIM online at www.travelsim.net.au or call our contact centre on 1800 076 442, we post them express post so they usually arrive the following day. Otherwise, you can visit one of our retail sellers, a comprehensive list can be found at www.travelsim.net.au/locations. Travelex and Helloworld stock them but there are numerous locations so check the list for your specific location. Our contact centre is open 24/7 if you need help finding a location near you.

I've just purchased this Travel SIM, and planning to travel to Hong Kong in 2 weeks. Before I go I've been asking my friends in HK to send me test SMS from the HK mobile +852-xxxx-xxxx to my travel SIM +614xx-xxx-xxx. No matter how many different Hong Kong friends tried to send me international SMS they all failed. I've already set the message centre to be +316540998002, I've successfully sent and received SMS australia locally. I've successfully sent SMS to my friends in Hong Kong, however I kept failing to receive SMS from them internationally. Please kindly advise urgently?! Thanks heaps
Hi, to help me trouble shoot I need your TravelSIM number or the email address registered on your account.
Have you received any reviews on the Woolworth's Travel sim Card?
Does the travelsim come with data and how much? How do you top up while travelling? cheers Pam
Pam I am just a user, not the seller. Please visit their website which clearly answers the questions you have. Topping up while travelling is incredibly easy. From memory there is no data when using in USA and there is data when using in Europe, but again you need to check their website or call them, they are very helpful. By the way, I use a pay by the day T mobile sim when in US, because Travelsim didn't work well there - you can purchase in US or via an australian website www.travelgear.com.au. All the best.
Yes, data does come with your TravelSim, check our website www.travelsim.net.au for all costs. To top up while overseas you can contact us on a free call, use our App or reply to our SMS when your balance drops below $10.00.
I went to Fiji and used travelsim for the first time - my friends and family could not contact me, i had 7 mystery missed calls from romania germany and britain and my balance plummeted. I feel i have been hoodwinked and hacked - any similar remarks?
Hello Ron, I can't say that has been my experience, noting that I have only successfully used Travelsim in Europe - France and England to be exact - as recently again as last October without any of the things you mention. I did try to use it in US early last year but had poor experience with SMSs not getting through, calls not getting through, gobblydegook SMSs etc, and finally bought a T Mobile sim which was great. Just used T mobile again in US one week ago as wouldn't try Travelsim in US again. I suggest calling Travelsim and see what they say - I usually find them very responsive, they were so when I reported my experience in the US. Maybe they will refund your outlay as what happened to you sounds horrible! I got my T mobile sim in Australia from www.travelgear.com.au and they were great; maybe they have sims for countries other than US. Sigh. Its really hard finding an alternative to being slugged by Telstra/Optus etc when overseas! Though I'm happy with my solutions. Jane
