We have just returned from a 3 night for $399 getaway to Yamba staying at Angourie Resort.
Unfortunately we cut our stay 1 night early due to the bed being uncomfortable.
We also found old blood stains on the sheet. We decided to check out early for a few reasons,
the main reason being the bed had a dip considerably lower on one side. The 2nd reason being the room was dark and very little natural light. We found the staff friendly courteous and helpful. The restaurant was most enjoyable and the service was of high standard. The pool area was lovely to spend time kicking back and relaxing. We felt disappointed no compensation was offered when we reported the bed being uncomfortable and sheets blood stains.
A different and interesting experience
We’ve just completed a 14 day tour to
China (extended by the airline by two days which meant night flights at both ends)
We had some highlights and our tour group were a great bunch that all got along well. Hotels were all good. Hainan Airlines were good except they changed flight times a few weeks before so we had an extra night in Xian and no hotel organised and no information for us when we arrived in Xian Thankfully aChinese student from Sydney came to our rescue with interpreting and we Got to bed finally three hours later at 1:30am. Tick the Box Tour of China
We just completed a ten day TripADeal tour of China and wouldn’t rate it highly for a memorable trip to China. If you just want to tick off bucket list items such as seeing The Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors, then you will probably think this tour is a bargain. But if you want to spend quality time experiencing the wonders of China, you may be disappointed.
The “hard sell” visits to various factories (jade, silk, tea) are allocated far more time than any of the genuine sight seeing items, say 2 hours in a factory compared with 30 mi...nutes in a Museum containing world class artefacts. Because of these selling opportunities, the itinerary is jam packed so you can be out of the hotel by 8am and not return until 9 or 11pm at night, squeezing a snack in between. I imagined delicious dinners of Chinese food but in fact ate more junk food (Maccas etc) than I’d ever consume in my normal life. Eating a meal at regular times just didn’t seem to be a priority, hence sometimes you were running on empty or grabbing a fast food snack whenever the opportunity presented itself. Being on a tour is always going to be regimented, but be prepared for a large tour group (average 38 people), and 23 other TripADeal buses as well as others, all turning up to every stop, making for daily long periods of queuing, processing and booking into the various places of interest. There is a lot of standing around, each and every day. Towards the end of the trip it resembled an endurance test rather than a holiday. On the plus side, the Tour Guides were personable and informative .
No frills travelling
I guess you get what you pay for but my first trip to Croatia with Tripadeal will be my last. The hotels were good but we always ended up with the less favourable rooms e.g. no view or very small. Apart from several two hour city tours we had no travel guide and were often confused about the itinerary. I was amazed when there was no information given regarding a 3 hour bushwalking trek. Most people were over 60 years old and there were no strategies in place should anyone have become ill or had an injury. The bus driver told us not to ask questions of him as he was a driver and not a guide
In my opinion this company needs to consider their duty of care to their customers as I can foresee a critical incident if their practises don't improve

Very poor coach tour experience
Nth American & Caribbean trip 2019. Everything was good until the coach tour. Much to complain about but price gouging on sights & poorly arranged accommodation resulting in hours of sightseeing lost.
Good trip to china
Went on the 12 day trip, just returned. Our hotels were excellent but be warned. 1st day to forbidden city etc. Bkft at 7.30 but lunch not till 3pm. Most of our tour were wilting thro lack of food. You leave hotel at 8am and do not return till 6 or 7pm. Long days. If you don't take optional tours then you are just left where bus parked. Otherwise tour is worth the money.

Hoodwinked On Airline
The original iNDIA offer was air travel by Qantas, Emirates, Singapore or Southern China. Surprise surprise - we got tickets on Southern China - the worst airline in the world. I feel hoodwinked into this airline because if you advertised Southern China nobody in their right minds would book with you. Seat did not go back, screen did not work, could not get a Gin &Tonic, two wines on offer red and white which tasted like battery acid, and was undrinkable. Food terrible. Hosties rude and abrupt, service terrible, long and tortuous transit in Gu...anzhou - had to go through x rays etc etc all over again. Internal flights on Indigo had 15kgms baggage limit not advertised by you - tickets supplied on arrival in India - whereas international flights allowance was 20 kgnms. Ended up having to pay A$88 overweight fee twice. One Indigo flight was delayed 6 hours (airline renamed Indi no go)which meant we arrived at into the Oberoi Dehli at 10pm - too late to enjoy the hotel as we had to check out at 8:30 the next morning.
We have just returned from a 12 day two for one Tripadeal to China. I am not one to write reviews but feel compelled to for this one.
$3000 for two people for a 10 day trip to China (the other two days were flying days) is very cheap when it includes Qantas return flights and all accommodation.
The fine print in terms and conditions states that Tripadeal is not responsible for any seating allocations. We were not booked to sit together on the flight over or any of the train journeys. There is no way you can change this. They simply book a block...
Customer Service Fail
My wife and I recently returned from a 2 for 1 trip to China. We had 3 guides over the course of the tour, the first two guides were very good. The third guide who accompanied the group to Shanghai pretty much spoilt that part of the tour for us. When we returned to Australia and contacted Trip a Deal to raise our issues, customer service gave us some pathetic excuse to try to justify our disappointing experience in Shanghai. Customer Service - FAIL!
This was our first Trip A Deal tour and it will be our last.
18 Day China tour including Yangtze River Cruise
From the moment the doors on the plane closed and we started to taxi down the runway, I had a bad feeling about this trip. I couldn't explain it then and I can't explain it now but I do wish I had trusted my gut.
In Beijing, third day out from home, we got wet, very wet when visiting the Forbidden City. People were asking the tour guide to just end the tour and let us get to somewhere dry where we could change clothes before we moved on to the next part of our trip. That request was denied and we ended up sitting in wet clothes for the rest...of the day/night. The end result was that a lot of people on the bus got sick, very sick but there was no compassion or empathy by the tour guides and the time table did not have the flexibility to accommodate us. By the time we go to Shenzhou and our first day off, we were both exhausted, sick and took ourselves to hospital where we were treated well and given antibiotics and Chinese herbal drugs. No rest for the wicked though, and the next day we had to keep going. At no time was there any compassion shown and never once were we asked how we were doing, did we need anything, was there anything that could be done to help. The whole experience was very unsettling. We didn't get better and three doctors visits later, we made a decision to come home early. We ended up doing the 4 night Yangtze cruise and from Chongquing bought tickets to go straight home to Australia. It took 3 flights and almost 24 hours before we finally got home. I could bang on about the constant putting our hands in our pockets to pay tour guides, and two lots of $150 (all cash of course) and the blatant upselling of goods and services but these are things that we were aware of and chose to accept. What we didn't accept was the lack of assistance for the number of people who were sick and the inflexibility of the timetable that didn't accommodate sickness. We also have issues with the access to some of the places. Buses can't just drop you at the gate of a venue or pick you up from the entrance/exit of a railway station, there is always several minutes walk at least lugging heavy suitcases up and down stairs or undulating surfaces. All very nice if you are physically capable but if you are sick or infirm, this is just wrong and definitely not written in the fine print. Just by example, getting off the boat in Chongquing, we were faced with 120 steps to get to ground level and another 900 metre walk all carrying our bags. Local Chinese labour was available for our use at a cost of 20Yuen per bag. TripaDeal apparently covered 1 bag per person but only to the top of the stairs. Beyond that was our problem. So, it cost us 100yuen to get our 2 bags each to the bus. There were three attempts by the labour to get more money out of us as well - be aware of this behaviour, the locals see us as cash cows.
Meh, You get what you pay for
Just finished the 12 day China tour - well 10 really if you take out the flights. You get to see everything advertised but you also get: hotels which are very poorly located, VERY variable quality of hotel rooms and included breakfasts, optional add-ons that turn out to be unavoidable and over-priced, variability in quality of guides, a constant hard sell, lots of visits to government sponsored ‘factories’ which are essentially retail outlets that are over-priced, and not enough time in the culturally important places you really wanted to see! B...uses are crowded and with sick and infectious patrons, it is inevitable you will end up unwell - no strategies are employed to minimise risk eg masks, hand hygiene, clustering sick patrons etc. Would be hard to do this for the same price as an independent traveler, but who would want to. Ticked a bucket list item but that’s about it - an OK tour if you are ambivalent about China and don’t want to over-invest in seeing its highlights (that’s if you can see anything through the pollution). Cheap tour but remember all you ever heard about peanuts/monkeys, free lunches etc
Just returned from 12 day China trip. Great value for money even with all the extra trips on top that are meant to be optional but are not really. Hotel standards were pretty good even if a little far out. Guess thats how they keep it so cheap. Really felt the guides gave you the essence of China in everywhere we went. They were well organised and very willing to help. Maybe a little training on dealing with sick travellers would not go astray though. We had a sick family from the start and they made everyone sick on the bus . Some terribly so they had to miss days . Maybe have some masks on hand and compulsory hand sanitiser in and off the bus would minimise everyones holiday being wrecked.
2 for 1 China
Be careful.....we just return for a 12 Day TRIP to China.
Due to a public holiday on the second last day an optional tour was changed to the last day.
When there wasn't enough people who wanted to do the optional tour the tour director, gave us to options either go on optional tour or stay on the bus to be dropped off at the airport....so we were dropped at the airport at 4pm for an 11.30pm flight...we tried to get them to drop us at the markets but were told that if at least 12 people didn't do the optional tour then they could pay for the bu...
Sri Lanka Maldives trip
Just returned from a Tripadeal Sri Lanka and Maldives 14 day trip from Adelaide.
The Visa cost about $100 more than stated and because of the group booking we were unable to select seats, even paying extra, on the two 10 hour legs. Other than this the booking process was good.
Problems began on arrival in Sri Lanka. There were 40 in our group, not the "maximum of 20" advertised.
We arrived in Sri Lanka at 10 PM. There were 6 people who had booked upgraded accommodation. They were dropped off first, a long way from our hotel, then we had to retu...
Poor customer service once you pay
Just returned from the Two for one China tour, and whilst the tour was OK I won’t be booking with Tripadeal again- a comment made by many others on the tour.
My reason for this is their appalling customer service.
Prior to departure I emailed them requesting clarification of the tipping requirements since an acquaintance mentioned that they were double charging on days when two guides were with the group. Tripadeal advised that only one tip was applicable and the guide would share the tip. They obviously didn’t follow up with the Chinese tour c...

Read the itinerary closely and also the fine print
We booked a 2for1 China deal. "Visit and experience ...... (fill in excursion event here)" doesn't also mention the hard-sell expectation to purchase once you're visiting the nominated experience. A change in accommodation venue from within the CBD to outer industrial area of Shanghai was a huge disappointment. This culminated in 'having' to participate in a surprise excursion (not free) as there was absolutely nothing to explore or see in the industrial park to utilise "free time to explore". (All items in quotes here were listed in our ori...ginal Itinerary). Note that there's only so much you can do in a 3 or 4 hour train ride, no matter how fast that train is travelling. On a brighter note, 2 out of our three guides were awesome, knowledgeable and approachable. The Great Wall is amazing, as are the umbrella vendors for rainy Shanghai. Any of the gardens are a delight. The language barrier really does exist.
