Don't bother trying
We tried to open a joint account on-line. Due to an IT issue at UBank's end the account could not be used. 4 weeks later UBank had still not fixed the problem. A UBank call centre staff member confirmed that there was nothing to prevent a new joint application being made while the first was still being fixed. Made a new joint on-line application and this time there was a problem with identity documents. There was no problem with the same identity documents with the first application. We wanted to open this account for the higher interest, but have given up and opened an on-line account with another bank without any problem. Ubank was just a waste of time.

Can't access my own money
Moved to UBank beacuse of low interest rates on the homeloan and moved all my general banking along with the homeloan. Unfortunately there have been so many glitches I am forced to find a new bank.
Today I did a large shop of over $200 only to find my VISA debit card not working. Checked the account and there was sufficient funds. Upon calling the bank they advised that there was a bank wide issue with EFTPOS purchases so I was unable to purchase my shopping. They said they would email back to advise when fixed but it is two hours later and...
Read more I have had no email. Too bad if I had needed to access my money in an emergency. And too bad for the supermarket staff who had to return my $200 shop to the shelves. Last week I logged onto online banking to make a bpay payment only to find my $4000 balance reading $0. When I phoned the bank I was advised there was a bank wide glitch with internet banking showing $0 balances - but don't worry your money is still there. I just cant access it. It also bugs me that you have to log into a different banking system to access the homeloan - so much easier on Netbank where it's all on one page/log in. Yes it is cheaper than other banks in terms of interest payable on the loans and fees but not sure if it's worth it if you can't even access your money when it's needed.- 15 reviews

Terrible-non-existent customer service
This is the worst online bank I have ever encountered. The website is often down--looks like they got their IT staff from Maccas. On-line chat is often unavailable and on the telephone staff range from could care less to officious and rude. Like others I wish I'd read the reviews first.
Terrible banking experience - I regret moving to UBank
I've just been told that it will be 4 weeks between opening my transactional banking account and getting my PIN. My card took two weeks to arrive. My first card and PIN were issued but never arrived (probably never sent because I've since been told my address was lost). My second card was received after 2 weeks (somehow to the correct address) but my PIN was issued afterwards and never sent. I was told that they lost my address is their data migration, which makes me very worried about the rest of my information. And clearly no-one at the bank ...
Read morepicked up that they were issuing cards and PINs but never sending them even after I had to ring up and cancel my first card (because my postal address was blank). I asked how I know my data is secure and was told I could take their word for it (after they lost data in the migration!) or move banks! Their website is very average for an online only bank (and often down for maintenance). I regret having moved to UBank - I should have read the reviews before hand! What an absolute shambles. 2 months later and they still can't send mail to the correct address and now they have informed me that the details on my account have been changed. I requested no changes a...

If you want a loan fast don't go with this guys
3 months since I applied and its still going, since requested documents are now out of date (more than 31 days old) I need to send again, including a new valuation on my property! You think you can set aside a whole day getting all the things they request to get it over and done with but they just keep asking for more and more things...only if they asked all at once its ok but it is not the case for what ever reason! They also initially tell you the amount you can loan then completely halve it once they hook you in and invested time and effort to get the loan approved. So if you want a loan fast they are not the way to go. Great rates if any consolation but that's about it.
Very Poor Website!!
I'm amazed that an online only bank can survive with such a poor website - don't even think about joining unless you can put up with an online system that is more often than not slow, has many glitches and often crashes. I have online accounts with 5 different banks at the moment and Ubank is by far the worst!
Worst service I ever experienced in a bank
I am executor of my fathers will and he had an account with UBank. I have made three phone calls, two emails, and a call to the complaints section and I can not get them to send me one form that I need for probate. Surely they could email the form while I was on the phone. There was no manager that would take my call (yes, all very polite calls) and even the complaints section has not returned my call. I can't think of any other way to deal with them except to try the banking ombudsman......all for the want of one emailed form!

Not a good experience
Decided to open an online account for savings and to take advantage of good interest rates.
Unable to verify identity, website link was dead day after day. 3 days to respond to online question. Suggestion was to go to Post Office and take ID, then they would send to Ubank. Not exactly the online account i was expecting.
Then, website password stopped working for no good reason. Tried to reset password, was sent onetime SMS code. That didn't work. Repeated 7 times. Got in eventually, very slow.
I don't mind a minimally featured service...

Terrible service.. Don't know where ur money goes!!!
I am a customer since more than 2 years now. Recently opened a Usaver ultra account. The debit card sent to me was already activated and was fraudulently used by someone else. It never reached me. But the bank has no answers. Disgusting...... The worst service a bank can offer in Australia. Should be banned....

Interest rates kept falling
Four years ago ,I opened a UBANK account ,that was quite a feat having to open over the phone ---- took ages ,but interest started off better than any bank ,gradually rates fell ,so as it was such a hassle to actually speak to a person ,I happily closed the account and got the same interest or more with one of the big banks ,where is was given the very best financial advice re some money in long term accounts etc .it is so much easier just being able to pop into the bank and speak to a person straight. Woeful
I am currently with ubank for my home loan and also tried using their transaction accounts.
Their customer service doesn't exist and i don't care about that. I don't need anyone to hold my hand, i'd rather do it myself online. However their website is the worst worst worst that you can possibly imagine. It doesn't work! Most transactions will fail, sometimes it won't accept my password when i know it's correct, try to reset password and it won't accept the sms reset code it just sent me a minute ago (supposed to be valid for 3 days), - i'm sup...

Rates ok but their IT is a joke
The IT business analysts and programmers for what is an internet only bank are absolutely hopeless. Functions for anything other than simple transactions are not intuitive and often don't work. As another user has commented, a so-called upgrade introduces a new set of problems. When they create a problem, the responses by secure e-mail are generally not helpful and often put the onus back on you to fix it - absolutely sub-standard customer service. The security is over-engineered - you have SMS security for every transaction, even if it is to...
Read more your own verified account at another financial institution to which you have transferred many times. This causes a problem if you are travelling overseas. They seem to be able to generate multitudinous automatic e-mails to advise you of transactions but couldn't generate an e-mail to advise when an Automatic Savings Plan (ASP), which qualified you for a bonus interest rate, was about to cease. In summary, no understanding or empathy with what customers really want. The only positive is that the rates are usually competitive. I don't know what the others are like but if you can find a competitor that offers similar rates, I would chose them over UBank on the grounds taht dealing with them couldn't be as annoying as putting up with UBank's incompetence. Disgraceful
Kept getting emails about an account I apparently opened years and years ago. I've never used it so wanted to close it. Absolutely disgraceful that I cannot close my account without giving them account and BSB details from another bank. Absolutely zero chance of that happening. I guess the account stays open forever - what does that cost you UBank?
Rediculous closure policy.

Problem site.
Providing that they don't "improve" the site as they do periodically, it works OK. However, every year or so the site is closed for "improvements" with disastrous results. When the site was closed last year it took around six months and many lengthy phone conversations with UB staff to allow me to access my account without my changing my password. The site didn't support the Windows browser for many months, until they managed to find a way out of their problem. It has been closed over this just past weekend and halfway thro' Monday morning I st...

When it works it is OK, but when they try to "improve" it, disaster happens. Major long term access problems when they try to improve the site.Been a Ubank customer for three months
Been a Ubank customer for three months. All was going well until I actually needed to take some money out. Although Ubank had been more than willing to send me emails about promotions and XMAS gift vouchers over the last 3 months, they have been unable to send me an email to advise me that my account wasn't fully verified, therefore meaning that I could not transact on the account. Sorry correction - they have been happy for me to continue to deposit funds into the account like I have over the last three months, just not take the money back out...
Read more. This situation resulted in me having the pleasure (yes - I am being sarcastic) of dealing with the most unhelpful customer service I have received in a very long time (think back to the 90s and organisations like Telstra when they were government owned and that's the standard you get). Although very understanding (sarcastic again!), the supervisor referred me to their terms and conditions as to why my account was not fully operational. That's right - although their website has alert features and a notification window and although they seem to have an email capability within the organisation to send me promotional emails, they do not have the ability to notify me that my account is not fully functional over a 3 month period and have the audacity to hide behind their terms and conditions. Absolute disgrace - when I can actually get my money out, it will be all coming out and I will be going somewhere else. I implore readers of this post to seriously re-consider before signing up to Ubank. Their rates Their service- 2 reviews

No gift card and frustrating process
Firstly, the gift card. Wow, it never arrived! I can't believe UBank is getting away with this. I don't trust Ubank anymore. I was eligible for the gift card for 3months now, and I am still having to call them up and fight for it. They keep telling me there is a delay, and one staff was extremely rude and even hung up on me. Customer service is really bad, and it's unfortunate because you will have to deal with them a lot to get things done right. I am not sure I will ever get that gift card now.

Read more - especially when they keep making errors and I have to call them back to correct them. They sent my confidential HomeLoan pack to the wrong address at least three times!!! Unbelievable. The system is so bad that they just can't correct these errors for some reason. I used to bank with Ubank - but the services have gone downhill for at least 3 years now. Make too many errors, Bad customer service, Not worth the savingsIT Department should be fired! - Useless - Cannot even resolve password issues
I experienced an issue with my password, it took several phone calls to the call centre over a period of 8 weeks to fix what is in the IT world, IT 101. Fortunately I was in no hurry to access the small amount I had deposited.
But no, those backroom boys at NAB could not even resolve the issue. Despite the efforts of the call centre staff at U-Bank to assist, it would seem that the computer boys did not give a [censored word removed] about fixing the matter promptly and as a result left a very, very, very poor impression of them and NAB in g...
Read moreeneral. I would strongly suggest that if anyone experiences this type of slack, non-responsive, service my advice is go to the top, ask to speak to a manager in the first instance because miracles of miracles within 2 days it was fixed. So NAB here is some advice. If you are going to back an operation like U-Bank, I strongly suggest that you hire IT staff that (A) Can demonstrate a high standard of customer service, and know what it means, not some pimple-never-had-anything-to-do-with-people-before geek (B) Demonstrate an understanding of how to attend to a customer-affecting matter within a 24 hour period and fix it now - not in 8 mins, 8 hours , 8 days or 8 weeks. When there is an issue and it is reported - fix it - stop asking customers to send screen dumps of what is happening that reveal nothing. They are hired to do their jobs and if they cannot do it, then employ people who will. This is so true. I cannot receive SMSs from them to do my banking and have been complaining about this for months. "turn off your phone and restart it" is the reply. Every other business and person i...

Poor service and application approval takes too long!
Don't bother applying for a ubank loan. There's a reason why their interest rates are low, it's because they have poor customer service.
I applied for a. UBank loan in Sept-13. It's taken me 20 document uploads, a lot of proof of income and assets etc. it's now Nov-13, and they still haven't progressed my application to the next stage.
Each time they request more info, I upload more documents, it takes them a week before someone checks the documents...then asks for more supporting information.
After 3 months, the fixed rates with all ...
Read morethe banks have gone up! So I have wasted my time with them. This will cost me as I have to lock my fixed rate loan in with another bank at a higher interest that what I could have done 3 months ago! Thanks a lot UBank for stuffing me around and wasting my time!- 2 reviews

Never deal with it again
They told me they will call me back, but it never happens. They asked my update document again and again but never told me at once. I feel so tired to deal with them. Totally, it is a waste of time. I will not trust this bank any more. . .

Time wasters
This was the worst experience I had with any bank. Whenever I uploaded 1 document I was asked for 2 more, I had to upload my Payslips, 2 years of Notices of assessment from ATO, 2 years of PAYG payment summary. Apparently this was still not enough to prove my income, so I was requested to get a letter from the employer and sign a form so they can harass my employer as well. I'm not even talking about 6 months of statements proving that I have enough money to pay deposit and countless ID verifications. 2 weeks later and they still need more stat...
Read moreements, letters from employer and apparently Australian ID verification was not supposed to be mailed to them, but needed to be uploaded. So, I have to do it again. Rate is good Verification process is very long and amount of documents they request just to prove your income is ridiculous. Different person each time you ask for help with call centre level of experience (no real help).Worst bank ive ever dealt with
The customer service at Ubank is the worst ive ever encountered, the people are rude and have been poorley trained. I received instructions on how to complete an overseas 100pt identification check and then after I did everything they asked I rang up to see how things were progressing and they tell me ive done it wrong and have to do it again. Also my secure mail isn't working and they keep telling me to contact them through secure mail which I cant do.
Should be - Useless Bank
I have allocated 1 star because I could not submit the review otherwise. Under normal circumstances I would have given it 0 stars.
Customer 'Service' (for want of a better word) is a disgrace. I have never been treated so poorly and spoken to as if I were a piece of trash in all of my life. Customer reps were rude, obnoxious, condescending and smug - and these were just their good points! I was made to feel completely deflated and worthless after my dealings with them on the telephone. If anyone were thinking of opening a UBank account I have just one word of advice - RUN!

U Bank service is rotten
Absolutely disgusting, they rang me to speak to me i mssed the call. I did the correct thing and rang them back then they wouldnt talk to me. The web site crashes. They did the faulty towers training course on service. Unless you want stress Stay away from Ubank. The worst Bank i have dealt with.
Service is apalling!
U for Useless!

Had to make a payment to the Tax Office from the Usaver account...Debit Barred message. Went thru the phone routine and was told that they had Forgotten to Unbar my account even though everything was in order when it was sent in 2 months ago! No bonus interest for 6 months
I was recommended to u bank by a friend and transferred nearly 200,000 to them . I set up a monthly transfer from my NAB acc. of 200 dollars a month to gain the bonus interest . After six months I notified u bank to query was I receiving the bonus interest and was informed I was not as I had set up the transfer incorrectly . I spoke to a supervisor hoping to maybe come to some agreement over the dispute but was told it was an automated system and that I had lost the bonus interest which if you do the maths is a considerable sum !!!!!!
You can log-in on the website to check if you're getting the bonus interest rate. Just look at the account details section. While it would have been nice if UBank had decided to compensate you for thi...
