Good for the price, could be better
I value my vehicles, so I took the leap and purchased the Uniden iGo Cam 80 as a test bed for my 4wd.
I love the camera itself, fantastic little unit, great sound and video quality, the GPS is accurate and I do like that it displays the speed. I’ve captured a few crashes (not mine thankfully), which have helped others involved in incidents.
The mount to the window is strong and secure, although the mount itself that holds the camera does vibrate and that’s noisy as well, easily interferes with the sound on the video.
I recommend a large micro SD card, a 32gb card will only hold a few hours of footage.
I love that it splits the video into 3min clips as well.
Poor quality night footage
Barely viewable night footage, grainy, overexposed, impossible to view numberplates that were as clear as day to the naked eye, and the camera moves around too much on its mount, I would never again purchase any Uniden product.
Good value camera, reliable and great resolution
Set up is super easy, camera comes with a mount that sticks permanantly to the windscreen, no suction cup mounting on this one. Be careful to mount the base the correct way up, if you get it wrong, the camera will just fall out of the mounting. Then just run the cable around the edge of the windscreen and plug into the accessory plug. Camera is ready to go out of the box, but you will need to buy a micro SD card as it is not part of the package.
Camera has 4K resolution, but only when displayed on a 4K monitor or TV. Still has a brilliant wid...
Camera quality is great with 4K resolution.
I've had a couple issues with dash cam and have found support to be sub par. They do not know their product and have to put you on hold while they try to find answer.
Camera is playing up and keeps turning off every 30 seconds.
The way camera mounts on winscreen is awkward and used far to much windscreen space.
Cannot turn up sound for speed camera alerts so cannot hear when radio is turned on.
No way to update speed camera locations.
Speed warning alert is for a fixed speed rather than an amount over the limit.
Would not recommend.
Very happy with my iGO80 dash cam
In Jan '18 I was in my car stationary at highway road works when my car was hit from behind and shunted 17m's up the road. No dash cam of what occurred and what was to send me for a visit to hospital, apart from the shocked look on the face of the road worker holding the STOP/GO sign.. Thus the decision was made to have some record, should the need arise in the future and I commenced exploring what was available. Much reading of reviews and speaking with friends who were not happy with cheaper dash cams, lead me to check out a new model just r...eleased by Uniden. In mid April I opted for an iGO80 from JB Hifi that was Wifi enabled, allowing direct transfer to my iPhone. It has a 2.4" LCD screen with Video Resolution to 2160P. It has a parking mode, 150° view, GPS locations, Speed / Red Light Camera Warnings and 2 windscreen attachments. Shortly after buying the dash cam I went to the UK where I spent 14 days driving. I attached the dash cam to the front windscreen of the rental car (with blue tac) as it was a temporary attachment. Yep the dash cam worked perfectly, though practice does make perfect, when learning how to use something new. Having returned from o/seas, the dash cam has been permanently fitted to the front screen of one of two cars it will be swapped between. The dash cam also comes with a connection for a rear facing camera to be fitted at a later date. Apart from instruction in a small paper booklet, the manual can be downloaded off the internet. Just wish the booklet had slightly bigger/bolder scripted writing to be able to read easier, rather than having to find a magnifying glass.
Questions & Answers
Just bought the iGO cam 80 at the weekend and although I have the looping set to 10 minutes, the majority of the time it’s looping every 30 secs to 1 minute. Very inconsistent. Any ideas?
Please make sure the motion detection feature is turned off.
This may be the reason the unit is recording in 30 seconds to 1 minute files.
Should you have any further issues please email email@example.com
Mine keeps switching off every 30 seconds. I can’t find the setting for the LCD screen to see if it’s set correctly.
Can you please confirm if you have charged the unit up initially?
(Unit needs to be switched off whilst charging for the dash cam to retain the full charge).
Also, can you check if you have the Car Park Mode switched on?
If it is, you can switch this off and test the unit again.
when the dash cam says "card full" how do you start recording again.
