Great for beginners

published

Awesome, light weight and easy to use this little welder. Using as gasless which seasoned welders don’t recommend but due to the cost of gas where I live, it’s worthwhile giving it a go. I can’t fault this little guy!

Purchased for $339.

Should have purchased years ago

published

I’m an occasional user and have struggled with a stick welder for many years, off and on. Watched some YouTube how to’s. Unpacked the Mig and within minutes I had a better result than I’ve ever achieved. Even managed a passable vertical weld.

Purchased in for $339.

Best Worktool Investment

This is a brilliant little machine. I am a fence contractor, It does all I could ask and more. Highly recommend.
The only drawback is usage of the tiny 1kg spools of wire, but it more than compensates in portability and compact lightweight.

Great little machine

published

I am a novice welder, but have a friend who is a pro, he helped set it up and did some test welds on all sorts of thicknesses. It passed with flying colours. My first attempts were dodgy and ugly, but found out later metals i was trying to weld were contaminated, some were powder coated others needed a good clean etc.
My mate sorted that out, after cleaning the metal welds were great. Very happy with the machine.

Why won't my new viper 120 cuts out power when I pull the trigger

Hey Keith, is it cutting out right away when welding? Are you running it on an extension lead? Also if you could please email me some pictures of your setup charles@unimig.com.au I’ll be able to identify your issue.

Yes cutting out straight away. And no plugged in to wall socket. No matter the settings it's the same result cuts out straight away will send pic and video

I've never welded before.
Unimig say that the 120 is only good for 3mm to 6mm MS. I just started playing around with the 120 yesterday and am getting reasonable results with 1.6mm CHS and RHS fence posts with .8 wire and setting 3. If I blow a hole I just fill it up.
Am I doing something wrong?

UNIMIGUNIMIGSend a private message

For such thin materials use .6mm wire and it's best to do small weld cycles allowing the metal to cool down. For such thin materials TIG is definitely recommended but it is still possible with mig.
