The Co-op (page 4 of 8)
If I could give 0 stars I would
Really angry at the 5 star ratings telling people complaints are unfounded - please go onto the CO OP facebook page and you will see it happening firsthand to everybody who tries to order. Forget about the peak time crap, it doesn't matter when you order, its always bad. I've actually never been so angry at a company before. I ordered, I waited, I contacted via email multiple times to cancel, I called and the number hangs up on you. Then they invoiced. Finally I tracked down a university coop and there was no answer, finally got someone who tried to help but was full of excuses. Told me to return to sender and I would get my money back but by this time I had 0 trust in them. Out $110 for a 2nd hand book and will never use them again...

Ignore the bad reviews
I ordered through the Co-op and then read these reviews so was like, "oh crap" but as I suspected the reviews are unfounded. My suspicion is that people ordered right during peak time or were ordering to suburbs or rural areas.
I received my text books within the 5 days I was told I would when I placed the order.
These reviews are incorrect and as long as you don't order during peak time I think you'll be fine as I was.
The process was extremely easy as most online shopping is.

Phones not working, items not delivered, a few items that were are damaged. No customer service.
Sold a laptop that was a display model to me. I needed a laptop asap to do work on so bought one instead of repairing the current one. It had a password on it and prevented me from doing so.
Bought items from them. About 10 items have arrived scratched and damaged. I ordered much more than 10 items and it still has not arrived. Every time you call them their voice mail says their operators are busy and to go to their local store. I ordered online. I spoke to their facebook page and little nor helpful response. I have messaged their site help...
Read more as well and emailed and again no proper response. I would highly recommend avoiding them at all costs. I think the universities should consider using a different company to handle students and books.Find out how The Co-op compares to other Book Shops

Customer service
Did an order with 13 items, was then told after a week that i will only get 4 of these items because the rest are out of stock for good. Had to chase up the answer to this. I then found out on a facebook group that people who placed orders after me received the stock i have ordered. A refund wasnt good enough, blaming the system is not acceptable these day with the technology we have.

I ordered a book from them thru eBay 1 month later they told me the book is not available and I haven't got my money back terrible service. They are disorganised and promise to fix it but they never do. I read the terrible reviews and took a chance now I'm regretting it don't make the same mistake as me.

Do not buy from this site
So dodgy and unprofessional. Still waiting on a refund for books I never received even though they said they were in stock. Customer service took months to reply and still nothing....I don't even think I will get a refund, I am not out of 120 dollars and had to buy the book somewhere else
Do not buy!! Scam
I purchased 2 textbooks online over 8 weeks ago before class started. 1 was delivered the week after and still haven't received the other one even though I'm half way through the semester. I have sent over 5 emails with no response and tried to call multiple times and their phones were unavailable. When their number finally worked I had to argue with the lady who claimed my books were already delivered even though the order status was still "partially dispatched". Finally she agreed to refund me the money and said money will be in my account in...
Read more a couple days. 2 weeks later and still no refund but received an email with a refund voucher even though i paid cash?? Good luck trying to get in contact with anyone with half a brain. They take weeks to respond. I'm usually a patient person but this is the worst customer service I've ever experience. Please avoid buying through them you won't get your items or your money back!!!What the hell are they doing in the head office?
So I ordered an education textbook from them 6 weeks ago in store. I paid in advance because they said that would get me a discount, and I chose the pick up option because they said it would only take 3-4 days to come in and my placement wasn't for a couple of weeks...
On my last day at uni before placement, I paid the store a visit because it had already been two weeks since I placed my order. The guy working there was not helpful - and told me he had no clue where my book was, and that there were none in any of the stores that normally stock...

Don't expect to ever receive your item
I purchased an item over 2 months ago from the Co-op's website and never received acknowledgment that my order was even received. Despite numerous attempts to call and email the company, they never responded. One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Thankfully for Paypal, I was able to obtain a refund. NEVER AGAIN!
Misleading and deceptive behaviour - terrible business model
Ordered textbooks from them online believing it would be a faster way to get them. They didn't have 2 out of 3 of the books I ordered, despite me being able to put them in my cart and pay for them. Don't assume if its doesn't say 'unavailable' it is in stock - they allow you to purchase anything that's out of stock, out of print etc.
Only knew that I was never going to receive them after calling up to enquire as to why they were taking so long to be delivered. The company didn't let me know.
Not only that, as they were required for read...
Read moreings they have now effectively cost me a semester's worth of study and grades while they take weeks to respond to messages, let alone resolve any of their issues. I'm still waiting for a refund. Will have to seek legal advice. The incompetence and deception is appalling.Terrible Stock Levels
4 out of 6 times that I've gone into Coop to purchase a text, they have sold out or have not received stock before week 2 of classes.
However, the worse case was when my course lecturer and university told Coop to order in double the amount of textbooks for an accounting subject for this semester due to the size of the course. Paid for express postage, but Coop said it will take up to 2 weeks, because too many people are ordering the textbook?? Clearly they ignored the request of doubling the order this semester. Didn't receive the textbook until 4 weeks later.
Lesson learnt the hard way
Ordered a book paid express post can't phone and no response to email. Learnt my mistake the hard way wish there was a warning on their webpage before. l having to learn the hard way!
Horrible!
I've pre ordered my books before my school started. First, it took them 1 month for them to have re stock the books, and when I went to collect it, they said I didn't have the right receipt (I saved the wrong one) so they said they can't release the book to me. Poor and horrible service! The staff had absolutely no idea what to do or even check the system! All they did was to tell me to call them when their system is obviously down! Since I can't call them, I can only send online requests. It's been another 2 months and I haven't even heard fro...
Read morem them! They literally took my money and provided nothing in return. This is practically stealing! Students or just people seeking books in general, you'll be better off getting books from any other store. They are only running because of the 'convenience', but you'll be better off economically with better service literally anywhere else. DO NOT RECOMMEND.MaddiBrisbane
Absolutely ridiculous!!
I ordered 6 books from them on the second of march and heard nothing for a whole week. So I called many times and of course the phones were down so I sent a request and the next day I had confirmation that they were shipping two of my books. They arrived soon after then almost another week later, 1 more of my 6 books arrived. I'm still currently waiting on 3 more!!!!!! And have sent in many emails and phone calls. I'm not behind in my English subject because I can't read the novels. It has been 3 weeks, it is an absolute joke. Don't bother....

Don't Bother - Save money and Save time, buy from ANYWHERE ELSE besides the Coop
I ordered a text book and waited well over a week and hadn't heard anything about confirmation on sending the book. So I followed up with an email. Magically the next day I get a confirmation email they are sending it out (forgot to send my order?). I then realised I had put the wrong address. I tried desperately to intervene early on so that it could be stopped. But the office never answer their phone. I sent three emails and finally realised there was a customer service phone number, so I called that. The girl was so lovely although she could...
Read more not change the address she had the book returned to the office and said she had instructed them to send it out to the new address via express post. 2 weeks after that phone call and I still hadn't heard anything about my book, it still had not arrived, even though I am able to look at the tracking and know that the book arrived back at the store a couple of days after I had contacted them with the new address. There phone system is always broken so you can't actually call anyone to ask where the order is, or to even cancel it because it is taking way too long you're going to end up failing the subject. I sent multiple urgent emails and even tweeted because I was desperate. FINALLY someone gets back to me and his reply is "good news, your book has arrived in store". That's it. No explanation on when I will be receiving it, or when they will be sending it out. But what gets me is, WHAT STORE? It was in your store 2 weeks ago! I was asking for a tracking number so I knew when the order was going to arrive. But no information of that kind. And of course I can't call them to follow up. So I have email and tweet again and probably wait ANOTHER WEEK for someone to respond with a vague reply, and yet a nother week of Uni has passed and I am unable to do the readings. DO NOT BUY FROM THE COOP. I purposely didn't buy from the U.S. because it would take too long, but if I had, it would have been here by now!!!A complete joke
Week 5 of university and no textbook. No textbooks i need in stock at Curtin campus. phone line is down. They are not responding to my emails at all.
Avoid these jerks completely!!!
Ordered 160 dollar book a month ago, can't call, emailed 4 times and recieved no answer, completed online request for money back including a threaten to next contact accc....Please learn from my mistake and DO NOT USE THE CO-OP AT ALL!!!! Order online...you save about 200 dollars anyway and these jerks need to go under! Some of the worst customer service ever! Would rate zero stars if i could.

No book
Terrible! Prices are high and the book arrives faster if ordering from a different company in the UK. Waiting for a textbook for a course. Can't contact the company by phone, only online and no direct swift answer. Stressful experience dealing with this company that has little concern for customer support or satisfaction. Avoid like the plague!.

Same issue as many others...wish I had read the reviews first. Ordered a textbook apparently in stock, paid for express shipping. Didn't hear anything beyond initial order confirmation for over a week, when I contacted them they said they were sorry and it was on it's way..website still advised it was in stock. A week later had still not heard anything and now website says out of stock, earliest dispatch from 30 March, well over a month since my original order date. Missed one assignment due to not having the textbook. Cancelled the order and waiting to see whether they will refund my money.

update... I went back to uni and they said "the store in NSW accidentally cancelled your order. so we don't have your book and we can't refund you."
You have got to be kidding. That's a scam.
