Vegepod company answered my complaint and sent me new attachments. The leaks are fixed and everything is now working well and plants are thriving in my small Vegepod at last.
I got a small vegepod for my apartment balcony. It's hard to grow veges on the balcony as we get a bit of wind.
Was very excited to get the call to say it had arrived, set it up and planted 4 different veges. They started to grow really well. My lettuce got aphids however that was easy to fix with sprays of pyrethrum for a couple of weeks. I had just started to do some harvesting when we got some strong winds. I was away at work when the canopy blew off, veges got severely wind damaged and I had to throw most of them out. I contacted vegepod...who said I was 'crazy' as wind didn't effect veges like I was describing. I sent photos of the damage. No response and no retract of the 'crazy' comment :-( Not a good business decision there. They did promise to send me extra clips to clip down the canopy more strongly. They took a while to arrive however have now had the clips for two weeks and they seem to be doing the job. Moral of the story... if you are in a windy area the vegepod is good however you MUST get extra clips otherwise the weeks you spend cultivating your veges will go up in smoke - or the wind as it may be.
Great growing space and pest free. The only problem is the lid keeps coming off. Needs better clips to hold it on. Great otherwise and would love to get another one
illustrations rather than photocopies of photographs would be far more easy to understand, my instructions looked very much like photocopies of photocopies of photocopies , certainly the product fitter together well
Great little garden, but lacks quality
We are super pleased with the Vegepod as a growing bed, unfortunately it loses a point for the flimsy bolts which gave way and broke under finger pressure- and, we were mindful to slide all the bolts in first, as per the instructions. Fingers crossed that the remainder don't do the same and the whole thing falls apart!
Bored with it
Bored with it, bee's can't pollinate cause the lid is closed and the sun can't get to the soil and that goes mouldy.
Not deep enough for some veg like carrots
Enjoying fresh organic veges without the hassles of weeding, bending and spraying for pests & bugs. Rabbit and possum proof. Watering system tricky and hinges need some further thought. Also maybe consideration to a pole to keep hood up. But this won't stop me from me from buying another medium on a frame with wheels.
Great Christmas Present
I brought one for a friend in Melbourne for Christmas. He thinks it is great and does not have to worry about the possums and snails anymore. Also at 70 years of age he does not have to bend down to do his gardening. My turn to buy one now.
Great idea although the current cover frame and particularly the hinges are a bit too lightweight. For that sort of money I would have expected a little better. Irrigation system could have been thought about a bit more as well.
Not all that great
Brought the X-large pod was so excited - missing 2 bolts, i have not had any success in veggies growing and i followed the directions so i re did the dirt this time according to the nursery method. Still the veggies only get to about 2 weeks growth then stop. This has been the most expensive and useless garden ever it is now going in to the chook pen for the chickens to have an over priced laying pen.
Beware of wind
Top keeps blowing off in the wind which is very frustrating they need a better way to secure the top . Otherwise it is a great product. Fantastic for growing strawberries.
Over Priced, poor build quality,
I understand that items of this size need to be in parts to allow for reasonable transport costs however, the pod has too many parts making it flimsy and difficult to assemble. The pods are not a cheap investment and by paying top dollar for this I assumed that the build quality would of been better.
I didn't even build the stand, I was so over building the pod, that by the time I needed to build that stand I was too frustrated only to be further disappointed that the stand leg drill holes were incorrect on one leg and couldn't be assembled.
The cover blows off in high winds and the fixings are poor quality. The sprinkler hose blows off under pressure.
Love my vegepod
Love my vegepod. The kids love picking the veges all year round. Sits at our front door and the kids open the pod to play with the herbs as they go past. Great idea and I love seeing what people do with theirs on Facebook. Bought mine from your website after my friend bought one. She now has four!
