Reviewer Photos & Videos
I am 76 years of age but l was not sure of one part when putting it together so rang and left a message no response from them so I studied the parts on their website and worked it out. It was very easy to put together by watching the videos after me doing all the base my son came and did the canopy and the stand which was great. Now to see with the veggies

Great product with a couple of caveats
I've had a lot of success with my two large Vegepods over the four or five years I've had them. In general the putting together and construction are good and as a growing environment it is capable of great results. However I've also encountered some of the issues raised by other reviewers. In particular the size of the canopy. One was fine; the other quite tight. It went on but put some of the joints under stress. After a couple of seasons two of the joints gave up the ghost. Hence, the photo. So, canopies can on occasion be too small. One of t...he sprinkler setups was supplied dodgy but I preferred not to use them as it can lead to mould growth on the cover mesh. As with most veg growing it is best to water in the morning. Always save money and weight by mixing in mostly perlite and some biochar. Unlike recommended by Vegepod it is not necessary to replace the growing medium every year. I get good results by revitalising and replacing the lost organic matter with compost, rock dust and pelletized chook manure once a year. One last tip: in really hot weather don't bother with shade cover you can buy from Vegepod for $45. Just throw over your shade cloth and peg it down.

Poor Customer Service
I came on to this site to read reviews to find out what others thought of your product as I was very interested in purchasing. I have now changed my mind due to the way you reply to people on this review website. People seem to have genuine concerns and in your response to them you not only attack them personally you go straight into defence mode that it must be the customers fault. The person responding here to people is not doing your business any favours and as a result will spend my money elsewhere. Stop being so condescending and care about your customers.
No Service or Communication
Vegepod is a great concept and product, however if there is no support from them. Its only when you do something wrong is when they communicate and never reply to any emails or phone calls. Their service surely does not stack up to the "50,000+ happy customers". I hope that if anyone is going to purchase one that they don't need any support because there is none to get!!!!
Great concept but not pest-free
After thorough research, I decided a Vegepod was the only solution for my exposed, windswept balcony nad I'm happy that I made the right choice.
Pros - The canopy fixes very firmly into the clips and doesn't budge. On the Facebook group, I've seen reports of possums, deer and even a bear trying to get into the Vegepod without success. The self-watering system works well so the Pod doesn't need watering very often. The canopy does a very effective job of protecting my delicate seedlings from high winds.
Cons - The ads suggest the Vegepo...d is pest-free but that is not the case. There is a finger-width gap between the canopy and the base, and a gap where the hose enters, and aphids can enter through the mesh, but predators like ladybugs won't find their way in (and of course, neither can birds). You need to b alert for pests as with any garden bed. The watering is done with a mister fitted to the top of the canopy. It's very difficult to set it so it waters evenly, and some owners don't use it for that reason. However, as you don't have to water frequently, hand-watering isn't a big job. Tips for assembly: watch the videos before you start, it will save you a lot of head-scratching. The canopy fits very tightly over the frame and needed two people to wrestle it into submission. I bought a small Vegepod because I wasn't sure it would work. However the small one is really too small to grow much, unless you're able to use it without the canopy (so you can let plants trail over the edge or grow up on a trellis). I now wish I had taken the plunge and bought a Medium one.

Holes, notches or zip ties
I used the video to assemble my pod and trolley with no problems. Easy to follow. Unfortunately the video talks about putting together the wicking drains using holes and notches to click together. My pack contained 6 drains all with holes, none with notches. Have since found out that this is old stock that uses zip ties to connect them. People at Vegepod, could you just update your instructions please as I thought I’d been given a pack which was faulty. I can now finish completing the pod assembly using the ties to put them together. Other than this, so far, so good! Looking forward to planting!
And also, I didn’t have any written instructions to follow in my pod, so maybe need to look into this as well.

5 rotten tomatoes for assembly
I tried to assemble the base today, but found the cross braces had the pre drilled holes in the wrong place and didn't align with the corner brackets. The result .. break out the clamps and 7 mm drill bit, and realign the holes. You must be skilled at drilling through steel for this one. As for the instructions, I found the photos blurry and unclear. Good luck I say, as I'm a qualified carpenter/handyman who spends his whole day solving problems, and on the tools. Give me an IKEA instruction book any day. And no, I didn't call the help desk, and the videos weren't much chop either. No flowery apology required from the customer service team.

Set up easy radish lettuce and all so beetroot growing well and only bought at Cardiff show . I asked the company for extra clips and were sent next day. A after service excellent
June 15th 2019 Update: Brilliant piece of kit
Absolutely best pod on market does what it says on the can easy to put together do as instructions say and fill up with good quality compost and use perlite.
Purchased in April 2019 for $159.00.
I have had my medium vegepod for 5 years. I did not connect up the water system as the water was too far away. I had trouble with the black clips so I super glued them on.
I could not work out how to tie on the cover so it did not fall off so I made up my own and tied it to the fence.
The metal ends have rusted now as the connectors have become brittle and snapped.
It must be placed in the correct position otherwise you get mould on the soil.
Disappointed that I could not buy the connectors at the local Bunnings store.
But apart from that I like it and will now do some repairs and buy some new connectors.
Purchased in November 2013 at PRODUCE STORE ON RAILWAY STREET, BOWRAL for $300.00.
Great but pieces become britle with time.
Great product. Vegies are awesome and it is super easy to water. They grow well and the canopy keeps them safe from the bugs, birds and other animals. However, the white connectors on the canopy have become brittle in the sun and have broken and perished. I am hoping to buy new ones.
Bed and canopy don't sit flush
Hi all,I bought a large vegepod a year or so ago thinking it would be fantastic. Unfortunately there is a major flaw I would like to point out to prospective buyers.
The canopy and plastic bed do not sit flush and in some parts there is a centimetre and a half gap. This of course is quite the problem when bugs, slugs, ants find their way in ... which they do. Basically better to have the veges out in the open for at least then they have natural predators which is not the case inside the pod.
Anyway otherwise probably good but 5 times planted with one complete refresh of soil to eliminate problem has left me with 5 cucumbers and a few lettuce leaves at a cost of about $600 soil (included) , a $100 cucumber!! And I though $5.99 was pricey!
Quality is poor and customer service unresponsive
I bought the vegepod and was really excited to build it with my 6 year old son. We had bought all the saplings and mulch in anticipation of getting this garden up and and running in a day. We got to the last piece building the trolley but unfortunately we couldn't put the last wheel on the trolley. Turns out the thread on the "Angled trolley support" doesn’t take the thread on the castor wheel - so there was no joining the pieces or completing the trolley.
Next I started to build the vegepod itself thinking it would be good to get this up a...nd running. alas the rubber strip they supply to join the base together was all twisted and doesn't fit in the groove. The whole thing is typical Made in China and I'd say the quality control isn't the best. I called them straight away and then emailed them on the Friday but still haven't got a response 5 days later. Pretty poor service. I had one disappointed son and a vegepod only 1/4 complete.
A great asset to any garden
Appears to be well thought out & very durable, heavy construction. The stand adds to the cost but is the only version to buy if you are a decrepit old fogie that doesn't bend so well. Also, do not ever consider moving it once established, weighs a ton!
Few items though; agree with Bill re the canopy anchors, very difficult to lock in, # make sure the units are aligned with all the drain holes on one side if you want to recycle water, # the drain holes are too small, especially if you get torrential rain as in the "Sunshine State", sometimes. ...
So far so good but I have a couple issues
I haven't planted it yet, but I managed to get it assembled nd it seems quite sturdy, but I'm having a couple of problems so far. First of all, one of the legs doesn't have enough black paint on it while another has quite a rough texture. My other issue is with the canopy anchors. I cannot get them to lock over the edge of the perimeter. I'm exerting a lot of force with the side of a screwdriver and still cannot get them to lock over the edge. So far, I only got one to lock into position. I may resort to trimming the edge of the perimeter to get them to lock in place.
I bought a small Vegepod from a local supplier here in WA, struggled a little putting it together, then planted it out with leafy greens and strawberries. I’ve been totally blown away with how the plants have grown in the past few weeks! I get a real buzz out of harvesting for work lunches and dinners. I can’t wait to taste the strawberries!!!
Questions & Answers
I cant find a way to prevent build-up of large mats of very fine roots, no matter what I have grown in the soil. This has never happened in my regular garden so I would love to know why it does in the pod and how to deal with that, apart from a huge amount of energy to pull it all out and separate the roots from the soil
how much is the small size
Can I turn a large vegepod into 2 x medium vegepods?
How many bags does it take to fill a large vegepod?
Not sure that I am qualified to answer this. In my limited experience each vegepod comes with its own accessories including cover which cannot be divided to make two. I used a lot of soil (did not count the bags). Overall it’s an expensive exercise hope it’s worth it in the long run.
