How wide are the folds of the Roman blinds?

I want to install motorised roller blockout blinds over (outside fitting) cedar window frames so that when retracted the rolled up blind sits clear of the top architrave. That is so you can see the top architrave. The architrave stands 20mm off the wall. I will attach the bracket to the wall. Will the standard fabric (rolls off the back) clear the architrave or do I need to have reverse fabric (rolls off the front)? Thanks jtl

Hi jtl! Thanks for the question, in this situation we would recommend a reverse roll so the fabric rolls over the front as there would not be enough clearance to clear the 20mm architrave. However, we recommend against mounting brackets into drywall as they can tend to sag or damage the plaster over time - give our window furnishings experts a call on 07 3262 68888 and they will be able to walk you through the right solution for your window! Thanks again

Thank you for the prompt reply. Its a large window (2145 x 2954 architraves incl).
Option A: I was thinking of using bracket screws long enough to screw through the gyprock into the lintel; so using reverse fabric.
Option B: as an alternative, I could fix a 20mm wood mounting board to the wall for the 2954 width of the window above the architrave and fasten the brackets to that; so using standard fabric.
Can you please tell me the dimensions of the bracket and the bottom rail?
I will give the number a call too.
Thanks jtl

No worries! We would definitely go with option B, it would stand the test of time whereas option A can tend to still eat into the plaster! Looking forward to your call :)

We recently purchased your Veneta 3/4" Double cell room darkening cordless blinds item number 001/02
WO #888131872 PO #94865169. Upon opening them and hanging they are giving off a really strong chemical smell. Kinda like a new plastic shower curtain. I'm asthmatic and I wonder if they have high VOC's. Will the smell even go away in time? Is it unhealthy to breath? Thank you Kim

Good question. If it’s for the honeycomb blinds, your chosen colour is on the inside and white on the side facing outside. If you order the free samples which we ordered lots of its a great help to see what they’re like. Hope this helps.

Through home depot, I ordered cellular tdbu cordlesslight filtering blinds for two windows, 35x49 and 51x24. Blinds perfect, headrail 1 and 1/2 inch. Loved sleek look. Just reordered for kitchen double cell blackout, tdbu cordless, one 35x37 and one 35x49, came room darkening not blackout. Also ordered 23x28 kitchen door window, blackout roller shade. All 3 came with thick, large headrails rather than sleek 1 and 1/2 inch headrails. Why? Kit door roller also 1 inch short in width. How can this order be so wrong?

Thank you for the response. I did go to them, and in the course of my quextions, discovered cell blinds were islabeled, and roller shade was measured incorrectle by installer, so will not work and were cancelled. I am now in the process of finding another company. Interesting that you are not affiliated. I do LOVE the cell blinds from Vaneta for spare room....thank you!

I can't find any specific reviews on the top down bottom up double cell honeycombs. Trying to decide between cordless and smartfit. Any ideas? Thanks, Liz

5 answers
Veneta Blinds
Venetablinds.com.au ..Veneta Blinds

Hi Liz,
Thank you for your question. The main difference between Cordless Top Down Bottom Up Honeycomb and Smartfit Honeycomb Blinds is that the Smartfit does not have a fixed headrail. The Smartfit is specifically designed for caravans, boats, french doors or windows with narrow reveals. If you don't have a narrow reveal or the blind is not for a specific purpose, the Cordless Top Down Bottom Up Honeycomb is a good choice. Below are some reviews we have on the Top Down Bottom Up Honeycomb. These reviews can also be found via the link below in the review tab at the bottom of the page.

"We have recently purchased a pair of double cell top up bottom down blinds from Veneta blinds. We were very happy with the service provided. We had a couple of questions that answered promptly. After placing our order online Veneta phoned us to confirm the details. How many other online vendors would do that. The blinds took 2 weeks to arrive from the order day very well packaged and easy to put up. Cannot recommend Veneta Blinds enough!" - jessb755

We have had our new blinds for a few weeks now - and we love them. We purchased Cordless Honeycomb Top Down Bottom Up blinds for our bedroom and they look amazing. Everyone who sees them comments on how great they look. The ordering process was very easy, the blinds were delivered even earlier than we expected and they were very easy to install. The staff at Veneta kept us informed - even calling when we had a query around colours and to follow up after delivery. Before ordering, we received quotes from other suppliers - and we found that Veneta was by far the best value, sometimes less than half what others quoted, but still top quality. We certainly recommend Veneta Blinds." - Kerry

Thanks Venetta Team.
Several aluminum double hung windows planned, wondered if the fixed head rail would obstruct the top window opening, for venting/airflow, at all?
And, hadn't considered tdbu blinds for my french doors; they'd be great. I plan to have aluminium inward-opening french doors. Would/how would the Smartfit attach to each door?
Thanks, Liz

Great Service Great Product

After doing quite extensive research on noise reduction, obtaining quotes from double glazing providers, I decided to purchase the double cell honeycomb blinds from Veneta. From the initial online chat, samples sent in the mail, through to the online order, clarification checks, factory notifications and expected and exact delivery times, I can't praise this company enough. The product itself has reduced the noise factor by at least 40% and the blinds have a postmodern, clean look. I will be ordering again in the near future.

I have just received my cordless roller blind 2 in the mail. Trying to install as per instructions. Blind keeps falling down out of brackets. I have turned "clear plastic cog" to release the pin and that side clicks in okay. But what is supposed to stopbthe other end from succumbing to the will of gravity? It just falls out. I start by putting the metal bit into the slot side bracket, and then get the pin side to click into place and boom...slot side falls out. What's supposed to hold it? There's nothing there to stop it.....
