Many issues need to be resolved
Always out of hand soap, sanitiser, machines are broken for weeks and lockers hardly work. Closes at 10pm not 24/7. Staff make you clean your own machines. $38 a week for not too much benefits...
Don't commit if you are not ready for it!
My view on Virgin Active membership is not to commit for an annual program if you are not sure of continuing it:
1. Cancellation costs - $300
2. Non transferable (not even to the family members)
3. If you have paid for PT prior and are unable to continue your membership, your PT payment is not adjusted towards the cancellations fees as PT sessions are treated separately.
4. You always pay in advance, so make sure to cancel before the fortnightly payment gets deducted.
They Gym and facilities are good, I am not complaining about that, it's th...e costs and fees that are putting us off and the non transferable and no adjustments made is a pain. As customers we expect them to be accommodating the charges if we have already paid for something and not using it.

It's pretty good, but a bit pricey
I've been to Virgin Active Norwest for over 6 months now and enjoy it. I live and work pretty close to this place, so it is personally convenient for me. However, I did hear from lots of fellow gym goers regarding the lack parking here. Some of the classes are packed and it's hard to get decent room to move sometimes. I still enjoy the services provided here, but I do wish it would have been a bit more affordable.
Virgin Active Norwest.
I find the staff and the instructors extremely helpful and cheerful. Yes, fees are high, but what price do you put on your health? Cleanliness of gym is generally of a good standard. Majority of members are polite and respectful.
I love the variety of classes at virgin, Pilates reformer to anti gravity yoga, they have it all. The body composition scanner is so handy and I have never had an issue getting a treadmill even in peak times (which is an issue I have had at other gyms). It is definitely not cheap! But you do get what you pay for. It can get busy. The front desk staff are lovely, some of the PT staff are not super great. Definitely do make the most of my membership
Used to be good
Main reason for joining Virgin Active was the classes, particularly Pilates. They used to have an excellent range of classes and instructors. One reason or another the instructors kept leaving and the variety of classes kept reducing. I have got to a point now where I am going to an alternative physiotherapist gym to attend classes (Pilates and strength training) as these are of a much higher standard. The gym is often crowded, gym equipment is often not maintained (spin class bikes) and equipment not updated (stretch bands, etc.). Overall, Virgin used to be excellent, but now I feel they have dropped the ball.
Virgin Active is a great and modern gym. The staff is friendly and helpful. Classes are a great and trainers bring energy and fun to each classroom. The equipment is modern and gives you all sorts of entertainment options as well. The pool, sauna and spa area is great and gives great room to relax after a hard workout. Great place. The downside is the annual fee. Quite pricey.
It is a pretty gym but pricey.
The gym is well presented with modern equipment that connects to a fitness app. The facilities are aplenty with a pool, hydro beds (under water lounge chairs that have water jets to massage you) sauna and class specific rooms i.e. spin room, weightless yoga room, pilates room, boxing room and other areas which allow for multiple classes to run at the same time. This is not a traditional gym, the weight training area is small, generally crowded and waiting for equipment is the norm. There seems to be an abundance of staff floating around and th...ey are friendly enough. At $135 a month I found it wasn't value for money for me, as I didn't use the classes (except spin) and the free weight area was frustratingly limited. I didn't renew my membership, but be warned, even if you are no longer in contract with Active, they will make you jump through hoops to cancel.

Great service and wide range of classes
Great staff members
Wide range of equipments and classes.
No dramas while ending the contract
Costly than other gyms but then again you get more equipments and classes along with pool, spa and sauna.
Update : 09/08/2019 - Classes at some of the clubs are getting full way too soon. So unless you plan early its tough to get into popular classes
great gym - highly recommend
this is the first and only gym i have/will ever join. it has everything we want and more. great lunch time classes and i have never had to wait for a machine. The personal trainers are friendly and support you to do your best. love the cafe (esp the ultimate V protein shake). I have brought along friends (members of other gyms) to try it out and they have all remarked how it is so much better than their gym - they just wish they could afford it. My justification for the cost is that you get a lot of gym for your money and it would spend more than the fee going to the shops (instead of working out).
lots of equipment, great classes, friendly staff, easy to jum online and book into classes.
expensive compared to other gyms
Good gym (except the prices)
Friendly staff, good gym equipment, not a lot of crowds and thus you don't have to wait for your turn to use it! I enjoy the gym experience. However, I have to consider its costs. It has everything from swimming pool, spas, climbing gym. Highly recommended if your wallet is big enough!
Friendly staff, good gym equipment, not a lot of crowds and thus you don't have to wait for your turn to use it!
Prices - among the most expensive gym memberships in Melbourne (last time I checked)
Questions & Answers
Does Virgin Active in East Village Zetland participate in the fitness passport ( for NSW Health)?
Hi - I have had to temporarily relocate at short notice and need to cancel my membership - but was told I have to do it in person which is not possible (not without the cost of an airfare added to the mix) - any ideas ?
