Watch the fine print and never deal with these people again
Though the pricing was competitive, I missed the fine print and got dudded. I have been a rating 1 driver for decades and recently had my first at fault claim. I didn't read the fine print and was not advised that protect my rating 1, I needed to pay $2 per month or so. they told me about the windscreen but not this. So now they intend to take my rating down from a 1 to a 3. Don't waste your time with these sheisters.

I recently reviewed my car insurance, as it was up for renewal. I received quotes from AAMI, QBE, Allianz, Budget Direct and all, were at least, DOUBLE the price of the premium Virgin Car Insurance was offering. The choice was quickly made.. thanks Virgin Car Insurance for looking after me !
CAR INSURANCE AND TERRIBLE SERVICE
I called Virgin Car Insurance to get a quote on their comprehensive insurance and it has been the most arduous and frustrating 3 week process. I eventually contacted another insurer (Youi) who insured us on the spot and were over $60 a MONTH cheaper in insurance and didn't make me jump through hoops or provide photos before insuring the car.
I have now just called to cancel my policy and they have the audacity to charge me a $35.00 cancellation fee because it is outside cancellation time BUT IT WAS THEM THAT DRAGGED THE WHOLE PROCESS OUT AND HAD ME CHASING THEM.
Will never deal with them again.

Unacceptable and fraudulent
This insurance company is scum.
I took out a policy with them, i have been a rating one driver for many years through previous companies. Got a call from them today and they said i had to prove to them i was a rating one.
After a heated debate on the phone they said i have to be dropped back to a rating 6, they told me that i could have a full refund within the cooling off period.
So i called my previous insurance company and got that policy set back up as rating one. Upon calling virgin back they then said they would be charging me a canc...

I have comprehensive car insurance and had the need to use it the first time ever in my life lol. someone backed into me and caused a couple of thousand dollars damage. it was soooo easy. i called them, gave them the details, within a couple of days my car was booked in and repaired with a great company and great customer service. price is competative, you can adjust your policy to suit ur own needs and the customer support i have found to be great.

They requested supporting information to be sent in order to validate NCD - documents were sent 3x times, still being asked for the same thing. They must be robotic. #FAIL #AVOID #HORRIBLE
Customer service is a joke
After calling to make a simply claims inquiry I was told all about what they couldn't do. When asking how they could help with my question, I was told 'we can't provide advice'.... How does their CEO live with him/herself!
Fast and efficient service on reparis
I was insured with YOUI and when it came time to renew YOUI increased the premium by a huge amount. Contacted Virgin and saved hundreds of dollars. When I had an accident in WA I contacted Virgin and the service has amazing. Here I was thinking because it was cheap I would not get the service. I was about to drive back to QLD and wanted to get the car fixed back home. By the time I arrived back in QLD all the inspection times were in place and a repairer was booked and ready to do the work. I was overly impressed with everything. Smooth and simple. Thanks
Worst insurance company and bad customer service..stay away from them
Was driving home from work and rear ended a car that stopped suddenly on the freeway as a truck dropped his load on the road and the driver had no choice but to stop.
called the insurance straight away and they gave me a number to call for a tow truck but it never showed up so took a good 3hrs to get another tow truck that vic roads sorted out for me.

They'll cut you off if you make a claim.
I would highly discourage using Virgin. I paid extra for their no claim bonus protection, which enables you to make one claim a year without affecting your no claim discount. I made one claim when someone wrecked my bumper. They approved the claim, but then terminated Ng insurance policy with them, stating:
" unfortunately, we can not invite renewal because the combined claims and the offence/suspension history of one or more drivers falls outside our acceptance criteria."
Virgin is basically happy to grab your money if they are confident you won't make a claim. Make a claim and they'll cut you off.
They charge alot alot alot of hidden costs
Just they do not tell you what you need to know and play woth words. Could not refund my money they send me letter and i did according the letter but they said the letter did not said or policy will be canceled it said it might be canceled which we didn't and you will be charged for an extra month.

My car insurance was up for renewal. I have had the car insured since new (2012) with Youi. Last year they increased my premium by 50% despite no claims etc until I rang them and got it back to a few dollars more. This year I switched to Virgin Car Insurance. WOW!! What a difference!! The process was easy, the telephone consultant was local to me, the price was right....and even better...before my insurance actually becomes active I have already received a text message from them warning of a chance of hail....totally awesome service. Virgin and Apple are the best brands in the world - they have it right and have never let me down....sooooo happy with Virgin Car Insurance
Worst car insurance company - watch out
Worst car insurance ever! Do not take a policy with this company. I am Australian and this is the worst company I have had insurance with in over 15 years.
On August 18th at approximately 5.30pm I was involved in a non-vehicle car incident where a motorist behind me had not secured the load on his vehicle resulting in it directly impacting and ruining my AUDI. My car was stationary.
Suddenly, I heard and felt a large bang on my boot and then a direct impact onto my soft top convertible roof, before turning to look outside my right window ...where I was unable to see as a black object was blocking my view. It then cleared and moved directly into a Mazda causing a dint in one of their panels. I provided this quote via email to your claims department and then attended my allocated time frame on Thursday 25th of August at 4pm. My vehicle was assessed by [name removed] and from the moment he greeted me was advising "what he will and will not consider within this claim." [name removed] inspected my vehicle by simply glancing over it and taking photos with a phone that could not display the concerns I had noted. He made accusations that it was I who had in fact dented my own boot lid by pressing it closed. While I may not understand a lot about automobiles, I feel that is quite ridiculous when I am 5'1 and weigh less than 55kgs. He made claims of my story being "inconsistent" against the damages and that they were wear and tear items which will not be covered as part of this claim. I am also paying a $1000 excess for this process (in the interim) and pay a very heavy premium to hold my insurance with your company to be questioned after being in a vehicle collision.

Great insurance, insured off road no question asked. Great price, with set your own excess. Very happy with the service over the phone, this is the second claim on the same car. Would recommend to anybody.
Is it legal?
Me and my husband were treated by Virgin car insurance rep like a criminals. They were rude treating us like imbeciles laughing at us and dirty our name through all insurances industry. The reason? Apparently we are high risk drivers. My husband and I are careful and responsible drivers we are in our sixties. We have 5 years rating1. I never lost demerit point and my husband lost a few for innocent mistake going through three school zones only few meters apart and one of them didn't have a flashing light not reliazing we were in another schoo...l zone. My husband drove in 40km zone 50km which is normally 70km zone. We could complained but decided it was not worth the hassle as we are both very busy and full time workers. We had a terrible year 2015 saying that we were cursed! Here is the true story. Case one, Sometime early of 2015 my husband was hit twice in the rear of his car by the same driver matter of seconds. The second time he was hit due to driver trying to escape panicking hitting him again. My husband got the legal details, claim was lodged through Virgin and driver at fault insurance paid for our damage. Case two, my husband was driving to work in peak traffic when ute tried to squeeze into a non existing spot and hit my husband on the side of the vehicle, once again claim was made via Virgin and driver at fault insurance paid for the damage. Case three,only two weeks later my husband was hit in the rear when stopping at the blocked road due to accident. Claim was lodged and at fault driver insurance paid for the damage. My husband renewal insurance cost went through the roof compared to the previous amount. Naturally he was upset and want an explanation why Virgin penalised him for not at fault accidents as he has no control over irresponsible drivers? Virgin did not lost any money and all at fault drivers were identified and damages paid by at fault drivers insurances. Virgin rep was rude and could not explain why we were made responsible. Out of the blue my husband got ph call from other insurance which charged him cheaper rate and still is insured till December,but little we knew that they are all connected to the same underwriter. Case four, this one is one of mine not at fault accident! End of the 2015 It was late at night I was driving from work and I was lucky not have been killed by driver driving through red light while I was proceeding on my green arrow to the right . The driver was on the phone, no lights on and speeding hitting another car proceeding to the left, and because my car got the greater hit the other car only got a dent. Police came to help me, my car was write off. Virgin advise us to lodge the claim with at fault driver insurance as the renewal would be too expensive otherwise, so we did believing that Virgin do the right thing by us for a change and this accident had nothing to do with Virgin at all! Case five this is the only at fault accident I ever claimed through VIRGIN! This accident did not envolve other driver. It happened in shopping center! I was parking at usual place as thousand times before, not seeing new concrete slab I have damaged scratched my brand new car understanding it was my fault no excuses. My renewal Is due next month and that is where everything went pear shaped. Last week I got a refusal letter from Virgin that they don't renew my policy due to claim history. So I shopped on line got a quote and phoned my husbands insurance asking if I can get better deal for two cars. I got transferred to a rep after few minutes of questions and answers it look I will be insured. He was happy regardless our claims impressed by my rating1 and the demerits points. In matter of seconds he changed from friendly to a abrupt nasty tone in his voice rejecting our business deal saying that I'm risk on the road and uninsurable. When I got upset asking him how he figure it out that my husband and I are bad drivers when we claimed only one at fault accident. He disrespected me ignoring my questions speaking like a robot laughed me and happily told me if some one willing to insure me it will be massively expensive. Next he informed me that he remember that my husband and him having argument and he bitterly reminded me that my husband refused their expensive insurance. I was confused saying but that was between Virgin and my husband ! And with pleasure in his tone of the voice he said that's who you speaking to a Virgin. I said I want to speak to the insurance I originally spoke to which should be my husbands insurance. So he reconnect me to the rep and he was happy to insure me, he put me on hold and his enthusiasm changed to embarrassing apology, saying that once we were refused insurance we can't be insured as he was instructed by Virgin and all of the underwrites. I was speechless crying how it is possible when we were NOT AT FAULT!!! VIRGIN you are responsible for slandering our name through out all insurances. I also wanted to know why my husband got insurance and why they refusing me? I was shocked when he replied that my husband will be refused an insurance once it runs out! This rep was confused, embarrassed and truly sorry. Every insurance has a question, did you were ever refused by insurance! VIRGIN you knew what will happened to us I hope you and your programmed rude emotionless robots REPS live with themselves for destroying people's lives esp. Elderly shame on you! !!!! Where is the compassion and understanding you advertise! When people need you the most you dump them and make their lives miserable! Especially the REP who argued with my husband and me I hope that KARMA will give you taste of what you did to us! After your sickening and disgusting treatment from you I was on stress leave sick as a dog! THANK YOU for destroying our NAME! My husband and I are good people responsible and proud who we are , we aren't criminals but human beings who had rough time and you not need to punish us further. We have been through hell to have everything in order even it wasn't our fault we lost time, money and stress from accidents and YOU! I hope your victims get smarter and dump you before you slender their name. You are an embarrassment to call yourselves AUSTRALIANS! Would you treat your parents or grandparents the way you did us!?
Never received bonus points
Signed up with what was supposed to be 5000 Velocity points bonus. Points never came. Tried repeatedly to claim and follow up and was given the run around for several months. Now, after trying a Third time I have just been told it has been too long (more than 3 months) and can no longer claim missing points. Given what I have read below, I will surely be cancelling my cover as soon as possible. After having such good experiences with everything Virgin so far this has been a great let down!
It's been 2 months and I still haven't got my car back
I had an accident 2 months ago and they sent it to the wrong smash repairs. Found out 3 and a half weeks later and they FINALLY sent it to the right repairers. They took 2WEEKS to approve it and it was constantly LIE AFTER LIE about the process!!! We're family friends with the smash repairs and everything that the approvers claimed to have done was absolute lies!! They're terrible service, no help what so ever and a complete joke. I live in a rural area, no transport, working 5-6 days a week and I've been struggling to even get there, let alone, pay their REDICULIOUS excess fee !! Virgin insurance is unreliable, unhelpful and a complete joke and a complete waste of money.
After having a car insurance policy with Virgin for 3 years I called them to change my address and just to double check with them that we were covered in every state, as we have a caravan and travel all of the time.
The girl checked with the underwriter, Auto & General, and called me the next day to let me know our insurance cover had been cancelled as they only cover the car for 4 weeks in a year for customers holidaying. I explained that I had told them at the start about our travelling and they had readily taken our money and was told if we had an accident in any state but QLD we were not insured. This goes for any company underwritten by A&G. (YOUI, Budget etc.) Be careful everyone and remember not to travel out of your state!!
This is so not Virgin. The department should be closed down, it hurts the image for Virgin
After having such a great experience with Virgin services (flights, mobile, velocity program), recognizing Virgin as the best customer service experience in Australia for years and recommending to all my friends, I was excited about getting my two cars covered with Virgin car insurance. I even managed to ignore the negative experience people posted here about them. So I went through the online quote process and the price was quoted slightly higher than what my current insurer offered to me. I called to discuss if the quote could be renewed. Som...eone named Don who responded from Virgin did not sound interest even looking at it and checking if I could have possibly done something wrong during quoting process. My further couple of questions had a general response with no personal approach. To be honest, I don't know how Virgin still keeps this division in the business, someone from higher management should definitely look in to this and maybe apply same customer service level as the one exists for mobile. The only reason this is not 1 star is because I got someone available to respond on Saturday. This review has nothing to do with Virgin as a company.
