Versatile but...

published

Great people mover with plenty of power for overtaking. Service issues +++ which was disappointing . Automatic doors were an issue (grinding noises) only fixed after many services with agent. Transmission failed recently after many ‘discussions’ with the agent (grinding noises with gear changes throughout the warranty period)- took it elsewhere. Still love it but would a buy another??

Great family car spoiled by high repairs and VW customer service

published

we thought a new multi van MY2010 was the family car of our dreams. Big, easy to drive, economical and looked like the van from scoobie doo. Several in warranty problems but post warranty spent $10k on repairs inc $1k on replacement ignition cyclinder. Have just sold and bought a Honda Odyssey. Loved the VW but not the problems.

Great car with few faults

published

I have owned a TDI 400 Multivan since I purchased it new in 2012. Since that time I have one small fault which was promptly fixed. I have travelled over 40,000km and have experienced no other issues except for relatively quick tyre wear. This vehicle is perfect for hauling large families and it is well suited to both long distance travel and the local school run.

Door fell off

published

The sliding door fell off after buying it new in 2011. We only had it 2 months! Was treated poorly from the kedron dealership in brisbane as well as vw headoffice as it was a legal issue design fault and they didn't want to accept responsibility. It was eventually fixed after 5 weeks with no car as the dealership wanted to hire a replacement car with $1000 insurance excess - we thought not!!

We will buy mercedes next time - at least you get treated like a human being
The kids love it - lots of room and no fighting over who sits where
Door fell off. heavy doors

A very comfortable car for family of 6-7. We love it.
We had a 2003 prado grande for previous car that handled like a boat compared to this. The children use to fight over the middle row seat now there is no fights.
Pleasure to drive. You sit high above the traffic. handles better than expected. takes of well after once u reach 15km. plenty of power. love the electric doors.
Takes a bit to get use to the way the brake and accelerator operate when taking of from a stop.

That is the early signs of DSG transmission problems. Get your trans serviced every 40,000ks evan though there is no provision in VW service scheduling. Good Luck.

Our 2013 Comfortline has an intermittent slight transmission rattle when sitting stationary and idling...
My dealership considers it to be the DSG clutches??
It's been doing it for approx. 60,000kms. So it began at 120,000--now done 180,000
Believe Amaroks may develop similar noise?
Any comments please?

Try moving the steering wheel a little. It has happened to me before when steering wheel "locks"

If that doesn't work, move the gear stick out of park and then put it back into Park. Sometimes it doesn't quite engage and then you either can't turn the key or get it out.
