Good fan
Good fan, capable of circulating air well. Necessary for summer. At highest setting, it can be a bit loud and annoying. Cleaning it takes a bit of effort. Otherwise, this fan is excellent. The build feels sturdy and quality.

Great fan
I am very pleased with this fan. The way it circulates the air around the room is quite impressive. We leave it on low at night and its quiet enough for sleeping - provides good white noise. I would definitely recommend it and will purchase another soon.
Purchased in November 2019 at The Good Guys for $199.00.

Tornado
Don't believe the promises about its quietness. Even on the lowest setting the noise is too annoying to sleep with. Why are product manufacturers still allowed to lie about their product features. Money down the drain. Yes, it's well made. Yes the way it circulates air is clever. But the noise is horrible.
Purchased in January 2019 at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for $120.00.

Bit on the noisey side...
Bought this fan yesterday after reading all the reviews. Was looking at having the fan in the bedroom or near to make sleeping easier, unfortunately this fan is too loud even on the low setting. So hard to listen to it in the shops, when purchasing with all the background noise. Its a great fan to circulate the air around quickly.....maybe I should of bought the smaller version for bedroom but I bought the bigger one to use throughout the house when required. Its up to you as they buyer in the end...

Good, strong and quiet if set at the lowest wind level
Its first impression to me is very sturdy. The lowest wind level is cool enough when the temperature is over 35. It helps air circulation, so you can set the air conditioner at the moderate temperature, and open it at the same time. If you choose the stronger wind level, it will be very noisy during the night. I consider to have another one.

Okay but needs improvement given the cost
This fan works but using vortices to circulate air around a room to cool it down. This is different from most fans that blow directly onto you. We use ours by using air-conditioning to cool the room then running the fan with the air-conditioning off to stay cool. The first Vornado 660 we bought had a dead button so we took it back to JB Hi-Fi for a replacement. The fan works fine but is noisy at higher speeds as the vortex creates a turbulent shear layer. The fan is designed to sit on the floor and point towards the ceiling on an angle for the ...
Read morebest results. This has created problems for us as the fan does not have a child lock - this should be a no brainer given where the fan needs to be located to work as designed. As such, our toddler is constantly pressing the buttons to turn the fan on and off. At least the grilles are close together so he cannot insert his fingers into the fan.byzance

Great air flow
My husband who can't stand the heat keeps the Vornado on the whole night and it helps to make the room less stuffy. It works better than a normal fan as you don't need to have it pointed directly at you to feel the air.
More expensive than other fans but works to keep small rooms cool quite well.

Strong but very loud
Very strong power & good reach in average size room
Very noisy - much louder than a Dyson
Needed a remote - made life very hard without one
I returned it the shop as no remote was a deal breaker
Besides that I was a big fan of a fan

It surprisingly good
The Vornado 660 is surprisingly good given its size. It's a good product and it's cheap. It cools the whole room down all day and night. It is quieter than most fans. It is probably your best bet to use this on a hot day or after exercising to feel the sense of relieve

A good friend for the hot summer
It is good. The price is a bit expensive but it's working efficiently. However, it is very noisy when is set on the high volume. On the low setting is not as powerful as higher settings. But the noise is an important element and effect on the quality of the product.

I am a big fan of this
I am very impressed with the amount of air that this fan blows out. For something so small, I was expecting it to be quite powerless and only blow a bit of air, however I was wrong. It's great for at night time on a desk as it will blow the air around the room rather nicely.

Small fan lots of power
The vortex is different to most fans it circulates air around so not just pushing hot air on you like some fans do. Fairly quiet on low leval not as powerful as the bigger model but for the baby of the group it's keeping up with the larger sizes. No remote and doesn't rotate but for a small room it's not needed

Noisy, useless, ugly, expensive.
OMG! I believed the hype. I'm such a fool. I followed the instructions exactly, nothing. Just a very very loud noise and very little air movement.
Lent it to my neighbour, same. Waste of money. It Maybe useful in America where everyone lives in completely enclosed houses or McMansions in Sydney that run completely on air conditioning but if you like an open window or door in summer, this fan will be absolutely useless. Do not buy. Do not buy. Do not buy.

Noisy and inefficient
I don't know what other reviewers are drinking to rate these fans so highly - probably they just want to justify the high price they paid.
These fans are well built, but hopeless to cool a room. They just push air in a narrow beam, making a lot of noise and there is no way on earth the will circulate the air across the whole room and you will feel any difference. If they oscillate, maybe.
I had the 660, in an average room. As per marketing material I placed it in a corner aiming upwards. Nothing. Just noise. If you stand in front of it yo...
Read moreu can feel it ok, but it is a very narrow beam of air. I got my old 20cm fan that iscillates and was more effective to feel that cool breeze when it hits you. Much better to spend your money on a DC fan that can oscillate - cheaper to buy, cheaper to run (half as much), and actually effective.Find out how Vornado 660 compares to other Standalone Fans

Smaller than i thought but good
Very directional, has to be pointing right at you to feel anything and it wont circulate air in the whole room like advertised (small bedroom). Is very painful to clean and vibrates which is noticable when it is on the computer desk, it is also very loud when on high.

The best purchase ever made.
This is the best purchase I ever made. I have it in the bedroom where there is no air-con and it cools the whole room down all day and night. It is quieter than most fans (on a low speed). The circulator is virtually silent and has multiple speeds to choose from. I absolutely love it and agreed there is nothing better than Vornado. The fan itself in a beautiful WHITE finish with a polished chrome slide to adjust the angle of the fan.
Recommend this fan for anyone wanting to keep cool this summer.

Another over-hyped, slick marketing gizmo that under performs.
Very disappointed to say the least. After reading all the good reviews i took the $200 plunge but in reality i could have bought another $25 fan from Big W with exact same result (well at least the Big W one would oscillate and is quieter !!) Live in a small flat and the air flow with this is very under whelming, simply cannot see what all the fuss is about. My Big W $25 fan gave better overall air flow and automatically oscillated. $200 and no remote, no oscillation. Forever getting up to either change the direction of angle so can feel the ai...
Read morer or change the fan speed. After a couple months it needed cleaning....oh yeah right, if you have an hour or so to try and locate the screws to finally get the back cover off and is then incredibly hard to get all the built up dust off the blades in between and cover, a pain in the head !! Certainly got sucked in with the slick marketing for another over priced, slick marketed product. The USA makes some good products for sure but this ain't one of them - rather an over rated, under performing piece of plastic - someone is making some big bucks!!. Just buy a standard fan with oscillation function and forget wasting your hard earned bucks.hyparBrisbane

Expensive but awesome
Came across this fan on sale and remembered it from research long ago as being highly recommended. Balked at the price even though it was on sale but got it anyway.
Some people have said its noisy on the highest setting, I think it is quiet for the amount of airflow you get compared to most other floor fans.
The brochure has a pictures of air being projected a much great distance compared to a regular fan causing air to circulate around the entire room. For once the marketing hype is accurate. The column of air can be felt much further aw...
Read moreay than I would expect, I was very impressed. Our house is split level with air conditioning on the bottom level. You can feel the temperature change walking up the stairs, I measured a 5 degree differential. Using the fan to project a stream of air upwards works brilliantly, upstairs cooled in no time. It would have been 5 stars except for one annoyance. The rubber feet aren't very secure and fall out when the fan is picked up or moved around. I glued them in with some silastic which seems to have worked, but given the premium price shouldn't have had to.DeeSydney

Compact and powerful fan
Very happy with the Vornado 660 - it is compact and easy to position in my bedroom, on top of dressing table or chest of drawers or just as effective on the floor. It is not too noisy for the power it gives out. It was over $100 so not as cheap as other fans you can buy from hardware store but overall I am very happy with this fan.

My vornado is not working. Where can I have it repaired? I live in pymble nsw
Lcortijo@gmail.Com
1 answer
You CANNOT have it repaired. That's the whole issue with Vornado, they are only a box dropper but have NO service agents in Australia (as I got told via email by them in 12/2020). You may now throw your Vornado in the nearest bin and contribute to global pollution.
Anna L.asked
where is the vornado fan made? which country is it manufactured?

Made in China. But very well made.
I highly recommend .
Better than any other fan I have had, and I have many.

Do they also work as a fan if i was to put it on a table shooting directly at me would i get a good flow of air hit me? Im going fifo and i sleep with a fan on me everynight so want something i can travel with
1 answer
Yes but it's not meant to be used like that....you need to direct it to the top corner of the room
Details
Features:
- The Vornado 660 Air Circulator uses heavily contoured blades to churn the air into a column shape, which ultimately projects air further and helps keep everyone in the room cool
- Four fan speeds allow you to adjust how gentle or powerful you’d prefer the airflow in a room, while a multi-directional airflow ensures all sections of the room are evenly cooled
- A detachable grill allows for quick and easy cleaning
- Its small, compact size is unobtrusive, and allows this standalone fan to be placed largely out of sight, without compromising on the quality of airflow.
Feedback from reviewers:
- According to reviewers, the most appealing quality of this Vornado model is that it’s a powerful fan that does what it claims and circulates air swiftly around a room
- Sometimes reviewers found the fan to be too noisy to be left on throughout the night, while others found the noise level acceptable, if the fan is set on the lowest speed. Some even appreciated the white noise that the fan provided.
- The Vornado 660 Air Circulator costs $259, which is a little pricey for a standalone fan. However, while reviewers acknowledged this, most also expressed that this fan was worth the money.
