I used the VS Curl Secret and while I was using it it started to make a real screeching noise when it would suck the hair in. It keeps on making that noise even after I got all of the excess hairs out. What do I do?

I bought my new Curl Secret Multi Curl today and was so excited to use it. I got home read the instructions carefully, made sure my hair followed all the guidelines, set it to all the right settings then started curling my hair. It was great and worked a treat but when I had nearly finished my whole head it stopped sucking in my hair. I turned it off let it cool and tried again but it still wasn't sucking my hair in, the light wasn't flashing as it heated up and it didn't seem to be heating up very quickly.
What should I do?
Thanks, Sharni

This VS Sassoon is a smooth & wave curler VSP2662A but previous models are only curlers therefore more expensive. I am not sure how this one works, need to read instructions.

Hi,

My curler beeps after about 4 seconds every single time

am I doing something wrong?

It will beep when its finished it doesn't take very long, then release the hair. If you want longer, you can increase the time before it beeps, consult your instructions. The beeping is a safety measure, only need to curl hair which takes only a few seconds on such high heat, longer can suck moisture from hair.

Noraisah, I can't answer you question, I was so unhappy with this product I returned it the next day and swapped for another brand. It literally grabbed and damaged my hair after one use, I found that it didn't glide through easily at all.

Conair A.VS Sassoon

Hi we are sorry to hear your styler is faulty... the beeps are a very important part to the styler as they let you know when to release the curl and will prevent your hair from being in the styler for too long.
To prevent your hair from being caught in the styler you should read and follow the instructions supplied with the styler very carefully.
Hair should be clean and well combed/brushed before using the styler so all knots or tangles are removed
Use on dry hair only and free from any kind of hairspray.
Section hair before styling using section clips.
Use sections of hair no more than 3cm wide , comb and slightly twist the hair to keep the section neat and together when placing in the styler
The open section of the styler should always face the scalp (head)
To make a claim against the warranty normal returns procedure for a faulty item is to take it back to the place of purchase, where the retailer will replace the styler for you on behalf of Vidal Sassoon. In this event, per the terms of the warranty you will need to present a receipt or invoice as your proof of purchase.

Can you use the curl secret on wet/damp hair or will it burn off?

1 answer
Sarah
Sarah

I wouldn't recommend using on wet or damp hair as it may tangle and even burn your hair.
I would recommend using on dry hair only to ensure you get the perfect curl that holds for hours.

Is it normal for it to smoke while curling your hair it is it burning it?

1 answer
Sarah
Sarah

Hi there, I haven't really noticed it smoking unless my hair has just freshly been dried and may still be slightly damp.
I don't use any hair products so this may also be a factor if you see smoke whilst using it. I would say that if it was burning your hair then you would actually smell syngeing.
I hope I have helped.

I have waist length, course, frizzy curly hair. It does not comply with what I tell it. It only does what it wants. Will this curler work for me, or should I continue negotiations? Thanks.

Personally I don't think it would be good. I have thick, long hair and my hair constantly got stuck and burnt, even when I had my hair smooth and straightened. Maybe for shorter thinner hair.

Hi Sofia when the curler is finished it will give you fast beeps but then it should stop, there must be a problem with your curler.

I can not say for sure. It would seem the results are both positive and negative in regards to this curler. Factors such has hair length and texture are part of how well this will or will not work for you.

k.bails
k.bails

It works for my sister, I suppose it depends on the length of the bob.. if it shorter i would suggest putting the curler closer to the scalp but if it was longer than normal distance is fine.. hope this helped :)

What if I want all my hair to curl in one particular direction? i.e away from the left side of my face.

2 answers
amy__rulz
amy__rulz

Then this probably isn't the product your looking for. The curler only goes one direction and you can only hold it one way towards your face. You could look at the Phillips Airstyler which allows you to choose the direction of the curl however you won't get as long lasting results as you do with this VS curl secret ... coming from someone whose used both products.

VS Sassoon
Conair A.VS Sassoon

Hi Cat

The Curl Secret curls in two different directions but it is automatic so curls left then right direction so cannot be selected .

My first curl worked perfect, however the next few times it wouldn't take my hair or would just beep and not do anything (hair grts caught). Any ideas?

I had similar issues the first few times I tried, with practice and patience I got the hang of it. 2 things I did that worked for me: 1. I never hold the end of the hair. 2. I took smaller sections of hair (no more than about 1cm) and then twisted them a bit so that I knew they went through the gap nicely without other bits of hair getting caught. Not sure of this will help your issue but worth a try.

VS Sassoon
Conair A.VS Sassoon

Hi Sam

Some key points to note when using the curler

• Hair should be clean and well combed/brushed before using the styler so all knots or tangles are removed
• Use dry hair only
• Section hair before styling using section clips
• Use sections of hair no more than 3cm wide , comb and slightly twist the hair to keep the section neat and together when placing in the styler
• The open section of the styler should always face the scalp (head)

• Follow the sound of the beeps till a series of four quick beeps informs you to release the handle and gently pull the styler away from the hair.

If the curler is making a fast beep as soon as the hair is taken in this is the err sound ,you will need to remove the hair comb it through and assess the size of the section as the section could be to large.

I'm keen to buy one but worries about reviews saying it is ruining hair!! Is there a warranty/return policy if this happens?

2 answers
Tvh1975

I think when I researched the product had a few concerns by the mechanism if put too much hair people were having to cut the hair out of it but if you follow the instructions it works fine, mine if too much it beeps and releases the hair so unsure why others have had problems. As far as ruining by means of heat damage, I use a heat protector spray on the hair prior to using it. I've had no problems, in saying that it only gets used for dancing and special occasions so not regular use. Warranty is for the machine itself not that it ruining hair, you use at your own risk like many products but rents to department you would need to check with the store. Hope this helps.

john1818
john1818

my other tips adding to above after using , watching video reviews and actually reading the instructions (how many of us do) is to ensure your hair is clean and has been well brushed/combed through so it has no tangles or knots. Its recommend that you section your hair first which makes the process much easier and you don't have lots of hair flying around!. I use approx 3cm sections at a time and slightly twist the section before placing it in the styler.
