Great Fridge, cools to 4 degrees in 30 mins

published

Bought this fridge for my regular road trips with mates, it was a little bigger than I wanted but it's so good at keeping things cool and it's super quiet. Love the compartments and the fact that it cools to 4 degrees within 30 mins. Its also very energy efficient, I ran it for 4 days constant using my 130ah battery and the battery was still at 55% at the end of the trip.

Purchased in April 2019 for $750.00.

Save and get an Engel

published

Have had this for 2 years and it lives in the back of my Ranger 4x4. I am building a house on weekends and also use it for shopping.
Doesn’t handle heat above 40c. Turns off.
This is Australia and it gets hot, so manufacturer should tell us about that limitation.
I paid over $800 and also bought the cover that is perishing quickly.
Will sell it on Gumtree and get a 40 litre dual zone Engel.

Small but impressive, packed properly hold heaps!

So happy with the performance of this fridge/freezer. By adjusting the temp can be used as a fridge or a freezer. If using it as a freezer there is a small area where something can be moved too, to defrost. The item has folding handles both ends to enable it to be carried easily. Mine is used as a second fridge/freezer in a Motorhome and is small enough to sit neatly under the table. The digital control is easy to set once you understand how the settings. It cools quickly and maintains the temperature well. Works on 240v/12v

Absolutely perfect

We brought this portable fridge/freezer as a secondary freezer in a Motorhome, when required. Depending on the the temperature setting could be used as a fridge or freezer. Easy to set digital pad, can be used 240v or 12v. Easy to move about and in our situation fits under the table. Gets to the set temp in a timely manner and the compressor only kicks in to keep it there.

What's the emergency switch for

If the fridge automatically shuts down because of low voltage or faulty electronics, you can still run the fridge by turning this switch on. However, I believe you then have to monitor the temperature, and manually turn the fridge on and off to maintain a desired temperature.

I have had this Waeco about 4 years has run no problems until now. 240V is ok but won’t run on 12V direct to batteries, when using cigarette lighter connection won’t turn on. Have checked power to this all good, plenty of power in batteries. Fuse in cig lighter connection good. Any ideas why won't run 12V? Thanks ptriley1

Try running straight off a full deep cycle battery. I would never run a fridge off the car cigarette lighter plug, for three reasons:
1. It won't work when the ignition is turned off.
2. It will flatten the starter battery in no time.
3. If you are using a plug at the back of the vehicle, it is probably getting less than 12V.
