Lengthy delays in shipping. After reading the other reviews this seems to be a consistent issue. Perhaps the owners of the store need to work on their order/delivery efficiency model as it's creating a significant negative view of their online store.
Scam - unwearable slides, refund not received, silence from Walnut Melbourne – The slides I bought, while nice-looking, cut through both my feet, so much so that the painful blisters left scars. I contacted Walnut for a return and refund citing the slides were not fit for purpose. They initially tried to compel me to accept store credit instead, but as I did not want more scars or hassle, I cited their obligations… Read more
according to ACCC and insisted on a refund. They agreed and I returned the slides by express post. It has been close to 2 months of me following up my refund. They insisted they processed it and would not bother checking their bank account to check that they never paid me my refund. I had provided proof from my credit card and PayPal that a refund has not been received. Still, all the response I got was silence, "manager will contact you" (which she didn't), and more silence. I am now out of pocket for those awful slides, the express post postage, the treatment for the cuts on my feet. When I tried to raise the issue with Paypal for Walnut Melbourne, something like a standard message about Walnut Melbourne's issues processing a refund with someone else appeared. Looks like I'm not the only one scammed.
Disappointing customer service. Poor quality shoe – Loved the sandals, had quality issues. Contacted the company and the customer service was beyond disappointing. Will not be buying from them again Show details
Terrible quality and even worse customer service – Wore boots 3 times and when the sole came away I was refused a refund as I had owned them for 8 months. Unfortunately I don’t wear boots much living in Queensland. Show details

Fell apart like a slow trainwreck – my objective is to advise the public not to buy shoes that are poorly glued together by this company. i was dropped off at dinner and the straps completely came off the wedge and soon after the other shoes wedge came right off and theyd both fall apart beneath me with minimal activity. id only been able to wear these shoes on two previous occasions so its definitely not from overuse. Boots fall apart with in 2 months – Worst boots I’ve ever purchased. The quality is terrible. For the price you would expect better quality Show details
The end of my relationship with this brand – Purchased sneakers online, price was above $100. 2.5 months, and there are holes inside both shoes. The store said, regular wear and tear, can give you a $15 refund. I am not paying $130 for sneakers that I can only wear for 2.5 months! This is the end of my relationship with this brand which is a shame because most of their shoes are cute. Show details
Love the new range designs, good quality and fast response, very happy – Bought 5 pair of Walnut shoes, 2 ladies and 3 children. The new range is a great fit and comfortable to wear. Good price and good quality. Will be back Show details
Store service fine. Shoes (Mary janes)better for chubby feet – The old style walnut shoes ,from years ago (not with the w sign on sole) ,were well suited for the average child's (or slim) feet. The newer Mary Jane walnut shoes are only really suitable for chubby feet. Show details
Great kids shoes – My son has been wearing the slip on walnut shoes for years. He loves the slip on design and so they are his go to shoes. we run two pairs at a time so that we can wash a pair if they get too dirty. Love them! Show details
The WORST customer service! – I purchased a pair of shoes in their Boxing Day sale. I immediately received an email confirming my order but a few weeks later I had not received any notification of my order being sent. I then tried to contact them via their contact on their website, on facebook and Instagram. No response for days. I also phoned their contact number, it was at… Read more
4pm. But no answer. Eventually after I commented on a photo on their Instagram they responded to my DM on Instagram. After slow responses in that message I phoned them. I had the unfortunate luck of dealing with a very rude lady. They had emailed me previously to advise they were out of stock but from an email address simply titled ‘info’. So needless to stay it ended up in my junk. This could have been so easily resolved but Walnuts shocking lack of response to my numerous attempts to communicate with them and then my horrible experience with the lady over the phone means I strongly recommend you DO NOT shop with Walnut.
Terrible experience – Really appalling customer service, I got ripped off with my daughters baby walnut shoes and received no suppprt. Never shopping at walnut again whether its online or in another stocked store. Show details
Terrible shoes – Terrible, bad quality, cheaply made. Shoes fell apart pretty quickly and it seems the company is now too big for their boots.

Ava Navy Ballet Shoe – Unless dramatically reduced $ would not buy again: 1) Not padded on sole (feels hard - poor quality padding). 2) Elastic around the top of the foot is hard elastic (not soft). First time ever in ballet shoes I got blisters 3) Not waterproof at all - drizzled a little bit today and shoes where damp. Would NOT buy again unless they were super… Read more
cheap (price they should be). For example: OVER 60% discount
Don't waste your money buying at full price needs to be 60% discount or more to make the uncomfortable fit worth the price.
Great shoes – Comfortable, easy and fit any outfit. I wear these most days I’m not at work. I own white and midnight. My only complaint is there isn’t a large variety of colour choices, and the seem to absorb smells. So do smell after a while. Not sure you are meant to but I throw mine in the wash to make them look like new again.
Very poor quality – I bought a pair of walnut sandals for a 5 week holiday in Europe. Never again would I purchase another pair of shoes from this brand. The elastic near the buckle snapped and I had to tie it in a knot. The other shoe wasn’t far behind. This was 10 days into my trip! I continued to wear them but they were literally falling apart. I alternated… Read more
bw these and a pair of sandals made in Spain. The spanish pair held up extremely well and still look new. Walnut wouldn’t help upon my return and said they look too worn! I threw them in the bin. Expensive shoes for very poor quality. Won’t buy again.
Boys canvas shoes - poor elastic? – After being recommended by a friend who buys walnut shoes for her daughter, I thought I'd give them a go. I loved the patterns so bought 2 pairs of new style canvas shoes with elastics (not buckles/Velcro) and tried them on my son twice (they were too big). Have since noticed the elastic has stretched and looks frayed? Something isn't right. He… Read more
hasn't even worn them yet and the elastics are thrashed out.... Not what I expect from a kids shoe. Anyway, won't be buying again after seeing these reviews plus my own experience. Such a shame :(
Great design poorly made – We have been buying these shoes since my daughter was 1 and she is now 5. They were comfortable, easy to wear, looked great and lasted the distance. Unfortunately in the last year or two every pair we have bought has been faulty. The soles coming away from the canvas within a week on 3 pairs and the stitching on the Velcro and strap coming undone… Read more
within a week on 2 of these pairs. The returns process when I returned the shoes to the upmarket children’s shop we bought them from was not designed to be convenient either, even though the shoes were clearly faulty. Not sure if they have changed the factory they make them in? The faulty shoes all have their ‘new and improved sizing’ tag on them. So far it seems new and improved just means badly made.
Velcro poor quality – I love the design of children’s canvas shoes, and they seem comfortable for my 1.5yo DD. However the velcro became loose within three weeks. Also I wish sales of older designs online could be reflected by retailers.
Surprised not more positive reviews. Well made shoes, awesome customer service – I've been buying walnut shoes for years. I usually buy the boys harry desert boots (first pair my son wore in wet grass and they stained, thereafter I would always scotchguard them before first wear. The shoes are worn by eldest first and then my second son. They really hold up well. I have bought various styles from walnut. People will always… Read more
comment on their cute shoes and I love the various colours. I've bought red, blue and ofcourse the brown. The canvas ones I throw in the wash to clean them up. I've bought ballet flats for me, they lasted two years. Now I have to mention the awesome customer service. I've swapped shoes. Had one pair of flats for me get a small hole the first time I wore them, they exchanged them. A coupon code not work, customer service fix and refund difference, etc. I'm really surprised at the lack of five star reviews. I've been a fan of this brand for many years and will continue to buy them. My only advice is scotchguard ALL styles of children's shoes.
Unfortunate for a local brand – Bought my first pair of plimsole canvas shoes for $50. Weren't great cushioning, but I thought for $50 should be okay. Started wearing them and after only a few days, I could feel the floor. Sore feet, tired legs. How this brand remains in business is beyond me. Wanted to support a local brand but can't justify having sore feet!
Cute designs, sizing is confusing – I've always found Walnut shoes to be good quality - my daughter outgrows them long before they wear out. And the designs are gorgeous. My only issue and why I don't buy more is their sizing. As an online buyer, I find the different sizing for different styles confusing, it's not always clear which style you're looking at, and even when I think I'm following it, the shoes that arrive are way too big.

Very cute styling, poor quality make – Cute styling but overall not good quality. I have purchased the Euro plimsole on four separate occasions because they are comfortable on my hard-to-fit feet, but I've finally given up because they cost $60 a pair and only last me a few months before the soles wear out to the point of having holes in them. This is with intermittent wear, not every… Read more
day wear. My feet don't smell normally, but after a few wears in these canvas shoes they stank to high heaven meaning I needed to run the shoes through the washing machine.
I also bought a pair of black leather ballerina flats but the elastics hurt my heels so much I had to throw them out after only three wears. Leather was stiff and cheap.
I have purchased at least five pairs of the boys canvas shoes from when my son started walking, through to the last pair I bought last year on sale at David Jones and I will not purchase any longer. The elastics stretched and went wavy after only a few wears, and the shoes look sloppy and aren't holding their shape.
I have really wanted to like these shoes but finally, after seven years of persevering with this brand, I am no longer going to buy Walnut shoes.
Kids shoes fell apart within 2 months – Boys kids shoes literally fell apart within 2 months of moderate wear. After first two days parts of outer lining pealed off and after 2 months I had two pieces of one shoe in my hand. Company would have replaced it if I would have purchased through them with proof of purchase. $70 for the bin.
Ladies shoes – Im an avid online purchaser and recently purchased 2 pairs of ladies shoes for holidays and stated size from this site . Parcel arrived with shoes 4 sizes too small. Apparently I have to pay for the return when it was incompetence on their part and I get a credit note. Awaiting my 2nd response. We shall see and go from there .
Kids OK, Women's terrible!! – My daughter has worn the canvas shoes, and they are OK for running around in park etc but they do smell!! We had to wash a few times. I also bought a women's canvas pair and ended up throwing them out after a couple of wears - couldn't get the smell out of them, they stank even if I wore with cotton sockets. I've never paid full price for the kids (definately not worth it), but if you get for cheap, then OK for the kids to thrash about it.
Really poor quality – I recently bought a pair of Walnut shoes thinking I'd be happy with the purchase of such a well known brand. After about 10 wears the padding on the insole has compressed so much there's nothing left between the hard rubber sole and my foot. I've bought a pair of innesoles which has helped a bit, but this is a really poor quality product. Very disappointing
Very bad workmanship and terrible smell – Brought a pair of children shoes on line. It has a mark on one of the shoes. you can tell the quality of the shoes is really bad. Then, it is the smell make me sick. Never buy it again. Not worth the money even for sales price.
Dont buy these shoes! – I was on holidays recently with my kids and the weather was miserable so I decided to take them shopping at the local surf shop. My daughter fell in love with a pair of pink sparkly shoes manufactured by walnut melbourne. They were almost 40 dollars but hey she loved them.. Seeing as tho its winter she only wore them inside and to my absolute… Read more
dismay after 2 weeks they had fallen apart.. I contacted walnut but apparently they don't respond to disgruntled customers. I have super glued them back together and my repair job has lasted longer than the original purchase. If you want quality shoes don't buy walnut brand!!
