Similar story to everyone who bought this product - don't buy.
I replaced my previous chlorinator as it was getting very old, I had to clean it alot and the housing was starting to yellow and crack - otherwise 15 years on and still running. The Waterco worked really well until it burnt out a circuit board with 18 months of being brand new. Had to pay a $85 assessment fee (SwimMart rule) to confirm it was broken before being shipped for warranty. Waterco repaired and it failed again with in 6 months, just outside the warranty period - now not ...interested without signing up to a massive repair fee. The pool was managed by SwimMart for a long time with all chemicals balanced so no warranty wriggle room there. Don't buy this unit, find another cheaper unit that will give you the years you're after.
Purchased in April 2017 for A$1,200.00.
Wish I could give a Zero
This is a company/product that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. We were sold it by Swimart, who stated it was one of the better Chlorinators on the market. Within a couple of months we had the technician back to repair (under warranty), still costing us hundreds of dollars in chemicals to right the pool (not covered by the warranty). Then recently the chlorinator died again, this time 3 months out of warranty (mind you only 2 years for a so called premium product). When we spoke with Swimart they informed us that Waterco would not assist us and ...the repair was going to be around $600 for parts alone. Considering our previous Chlorinator (different) brand lasted approx 10 years, to have this piece of rubbish last only 2 years is a bit of a joke considering the $1400 price we paid. Avoid Waterco and Swimart like the plague. Will only end up costing you large amounts of money.
Waterco 25A SC Electrochlor Chlorinator
Have had this Chlorinator for about four years and now the electronics are buggered. Generally the pool has been kept clean with very little debre. My last Chlorinator lasted eight years.
Purchased for A$900.00.
I purchased a Waterco Hydrochlor 30SC chlorinator from Swimart 1 October 2015 supply and install with a 2 year warranty.
The unit has a battery backup but I am afraid is next to useless. It is supposed to have a Lithium battery (rated for 5 years) to save the settings in the event of a power failure. The battery is incorporated into the unit and not accessible to the user to replace.
I have already had the Clock/battery replaced on 5 January 2016 under warranty. It worked fine for a while but has failed again.
I had the unit connect to a dedica...
Questions & Answers
The clock on the timer is not keeping the correct time , therefore the scheduled time to turn on and off is out of rhythm. We try to run it during ‘off peak’ to lower our electricity charges , but because of the clock ,the chlorinator stays on after this time. Each morning I wind the hand forward to the correct time. Has anyone had this problem?
