Stainless steel burners
Extensive 5-year warranty
Sourcing a Weber Family Q stockist can be difficult
This review is for the bbq (3200q) itself, which is very poor quality. I would never buy another Weber product again and would not recommend it. The hotplate cracked, and several steinless parts rusted through, as well as the burner tube. Apparently from heath! They wouldn’t replace the cracked hotplate because we were unable to provide an invoice for it. The other parts were covered under the warranty, but the burner is out of stock in Nz. In all aspects, despite all research - this unfortunately has been a very disappointing purchase.
Purchased in April 2017.
Not happy jan
Buying a webber q bbq was a big purchase for me.
Cooking joints of lamb at Christmas for a large family, it’s important to get the timing just right.
The 3100, I believed to have a thermostat on the advertisement ,is a complete let down.
Ok, no thermostat supplied with the 3100,
Then, how long do you place a 4 kg lamb in a webber q for and what temp is MAX temp, for how long.
1mm of thickness for 1 minute
Webber, you suck.
I was really excited to get rid of my old bbq.
False advertising, i need a thermostat.
Purchased in December 2020 for $780.00.
CHEAP Plastic BBQ
I ordered a family Q and received it Monday .
I started to assemble and was shocked that all the parts are plastic except the top and bottom hoods and not metal as I expected from the cost $800 of the item .
I just wanted to let you know how dissatisfied I am with the quality of materials of the bbq I received . Plastic and light weight aluminium.
I would have been better off repairing my old bbq.
Purchased in May 2019 for $800.00.
not a fan
I know lots of people love their webers but I would never buy another. The circular pattern of the flame makes it impossible to bbq two different items at the same time (one on a high flame and one on a low). Meat is always undercooked on ours as it never gets hot enough quickly enough to cook rapidly. Maybe if I cooked a lot of hamburgers, hot dogs or thanksgiving turkeys it would be OK but for steak and snags it is more like an oven and very underwhelming as a BBQ. The worst part is the 45 minute battle to empty and replace the fat drip tray ...that requires tugging and pulling the metal tray out from underneath the unit. What should be the simplest operation on a bbq requires a PHd in advanced engineering to undertake and always results in spilt fat all over the verandah. I can't wait for ours to die so I have an excuse to buy a good old fashioned (and frankly much cheaper) BBQ to replace it.
Great oven. Lousy BBQ
Had this for a long time only because I cannot afford to replace it yet. What’s wrong with it? Purchased the optional hot plate at the time of original purchase. Twelve months later it didn't fit anymore just drops down inside the body usually when turning something over to cook the other side. Lid doesn't fit any more as the base half has gone out of shape. Had to get the plumber back to put a stop tap on the gas line as the cover turns the outer gas knob on full as you put it on. Filled the backyard with gas several times before I realised i...t was the cover causing it. Often have the gas go out about five minutes after you turn it on. When you come back thinking you will start cooking only to find the back yard full of gas again and the BBQ cold. What is good about it is it’s a great outdoor oven for roasting, baking etc. As a BBQ any of the cheap ones do as good if not a better job. On natural gas you need to allow at least 20 to 30 minutes before cooking anything for it to heat up so no good if you are in a hurry. Would I buy one again? No. Oh the problems with hot plate. Well sorry you are over the twelve month warranty by a couple of weeks. This was a BBQ supplier not hardware store. We can sell you a new one. No thanks.
Not well designed
I have used it a few times. Ok, it cooks meat well. Not wonderfull as what I could have read before I bought it, but decent.
But then when you want to move the BBQ around, you realise it is a poor design.
The BBQ is heavy (without the gaz bottle).
And there is no easy way to roll it around, no good grip. Each time I want to move it, I break my back.
Considering the price of that BBQ, it is very disappointing that nobody though about that.
I believe the problem is that Weber try to make someting cheap, all in plastic, and could have add...ed a second pair of wheels, but they are too much on saving on the cost to make the best profit possible. I knew when I bought that BBQ that I was buying something expensive. I thought it would mean quality, but actually no...
Purchased in September 2017 for $1,000.00.
Weber covers are a total rip-off
We're on our second cover (silly us). They clearly only last a year in the outdoors, then start to dry and crack, thus letting rain and moisture in. But isn't that what they're for, to protect from the elements? Not everyone has them under a roof! The Weber itself is great, but hey, they need a new fabric, new producer, for the covers. It's a disgrace to pay so much money for something with so short a life! Not happy!
Melting plastic together with box
Sorry but this BBQ is not very safe after the box started to melt together with the plastic frame eventually starting a small fire black burning smoke was not safe for me and my friends on Boxing day 2016. l can understand why this Q300 /Q320 have been discontinued will not buy this brand again.
Weber make it difficult to purchase one of these
I bought one of these and ti was a real chore.
Weber have made the business decision to restrict how these are sold. They are only available in specialist dealers, and not available to be purchased online. This means if you don't live near one of these stores (like I don't) and aren't comfortable giving out your credit card details over the phone (can anyone say fraud) then your only option is a trip back to the earlier 20th century with a cheque or money order.
Weber - how about dragging your business model into the 21st century and allowing your dealers to sell products how the customer wants?
Absolute cheap plastic rubbish!
Anyone who can assemble this product should get a cash back from Weber of at least $300.
Assembly instructions are complete rubbish. Most of the casing is just cheap plastic.
Have had if for a few months now but cannot get it to ignite so have been unable to use it as yet. Have tried to get the battery out but there are no instructions on how to do this and I think I have broken some of the plastic tabs that hold the assembly in place.
My advice is to only purchase this product if it comes fully assembled and in working order.

The Weber was a nightmare to assemble but managed to get it done, now I can't figure out how to get the battery in!!! Rang 'Masters' where I purchased it from, the lad wanted to help but couldn't, am now twiddling my thumbs waiting for another person to ring me with the answer!
Nightmare to assemble.
Bought a bbq 3100 from DJs as a kit to assemble. The fact that it is nearly all black makes it very hard to see what you are doing while trying to put it together, unless you have a lamp on your forehead. An appliance that relies on gravity to maintain its structure has got to be structurally unstable. The bracket for holding the gas bottle falls down, making the whole bbq hard to move from one place to another. The whole structure fits poorly together.
Loved it at first use. Caught fire and melted down on second use.... almost burned the house
turned it on and let it heat up for 2-3 minutes and went insideto get the steaks. 2 minutes later the BBQ controls and gas hose and entire right side is on fire an dmelting. Thank GOD my fire extinguisher was near Patio door. BBQ is scrap now... spent 2 days cleaning up the patio and inside house from fire extinguisher Powder....
$700+ BBQ no temp gauge ??
It was time to buy my 3rd BBQ, knowing I wanted a weber I done research on the product.
My father in law just bought a family Q, and explained everything thing about it to me.. I even borrowed it for a weekend to make sure it was suitable.. I loved IT!!!!! There was no doubt this was going to be my next barbie.. The big day came and I shopped around to make sure I got the best price possible, as money is a rarity in my world.. Finally got to rock bottom $ shook his hand and purchased it. I was so excited!!
Spent the best part of the day asse...
On not on and off not off
I was initially pleased with this BBQ until the cover kept on blowing off. What is the point of a cover if it keeps blowing off? Most BBQ covers have velcro tabs to keep the cover in place. Weber saved some money omitting these only to provide customers with useless covers that fly off.
The last time my cover came off the gas came on and a full bottle of gas went to waste.
I was furious. The BBQ was in the rain and $40 wasted.
I went back to the store and the sales women was incredibly condersending to me. (I was the only one in the store...

Hi Joe, we're sorry to hear of you experience and we will be able to work through with you to determine what has happened and how we can best help you under warranty.
Could you please send us an email via firstname.lastname@example.org with some images of your barbecue and the serial number and we can look into this for you.
I have just assembled my new Weber 3100 Q BBQ. I am unable to install a battery. Instructions state a AAA battery. Clearly this will not fit. Tried the smaller battery but couldn't get it in as springload would not allow it to close. Am I missing something??
Hi Tony, if you have a Q3100, there is no need for a battery in your ignition system. The instruction manual covers both models (Q3100 & Q3200)- the 3200 requires a battery behind the ignition button.
Hi we have just bought this bbq and we noticed that the screws inside the bbq from the lid have started to melt. I questioned hubby maybe he didn’t set it up right but there would be no other way I could see for lid to be positioned without the screws in the inside of the bbq. Please let me know what we should do
Hi Michelle, did you still need a hand here?
My question would be, are you talking about the screws themselves, or are you talking about the spacers that come with the screws? As these are meant to be on the outside of the lid, not inside.
If it's easier, please feel free to send some photos to email@example.com and we can figure out the issue there.

- There are two types of BBQs to choose from. One type is fuelled by LPG bottles (liquid petroleum gas), with one bottle lasting over 20 hours. The other is powered by natural gas, which is incompatible with any gas bottles
- There’s a standard range and premium range but the price difference isn’t significant. For example, the Weber Family Q Standard LPG BBQ costs $789, while the Premium version of the LPG BBQ is $799, making it only $10 more expensive. Unlike the standard range, the premium range features an electronic ignition and built-in thermometer.
- The BBQs have a large surface area for cooking on, with two removable folding side tables, which make it easier to prepare food
- Stainless steel burners prevent rusting and ensure longevity
