These work very well for me – I bought 7 of these mid 2010 for daily backups. I really like them as they don't need any extra power supply and I haven't had a single failure - that's 5.5 years now. A friend had one die, but suggested it was due to physical abuse being knocked around in a school bag. I liked them so much that I bought 7 of the 2TB version for another project, they have also been fault free.  Show details

Not a good product – I bought the 2TB My Passport less than 12 months ago. I backed up all my personal photos, video and info on it. It suddenly stopped working a few weeks ago - the light flashes but it is not recognised by the pc. I read some reviews and tried a different cable, different computer, to no avail. It is basically useless. I had filled over 1TB of… Read more

data, which the important stuff like photos and video were backed up on another drive. Coincidentally the other drive it is backed up on is around 7yrs old! I am very disappointed with the life span of the WD. It is the 2nd one that has stopped working on me (the first was a friend's 1TB version). I don't want a replacement since I don't trust WD My Passport drives anymore & I don't want my personal info going back to WD. I think WD should invest a bit more in R&D before releasing rubbish products. I definitely won't buy another 2.5" hdd at all, no matter what brand it is!! It was nice to use, portability was great, transferred data quite fast It lasted less than 12 months! It is unreliable.

Give thing anything Western Dilgital a miss – I have purchased a number of Western Digital products over a 25 year span. They used to have a great reputation so thats why we continued to buy. The latest being an external hard drive that failed just out of warrenty. It suddenly failed to be picked up by compter, tv etc. . An internet search said that THOUSANDS of people had the same problem,.… Read more

So you search and download all that Western Digital supply trying to fix the problem to no avail. They even tell you at one point that its Microsofts problem . Either contact them or download files from them. Believe me I have downloaded EVERYTHING and nothing works. Western Digitial arent the great product they used to be. I will NEVER buy again a product from Western Digital again. Years ago they were the leaders in computer products but today they are simply not. I thought it was a good brand everything

So handy – I love my hard drive - keep all my movies and tv shows on it. Didn't take much effort to get it running on my macbook. Now I can just chuck whatever I want to watch on it, or borrow something from my dad's computer, take it back to my place, plug it into my xbox and I'm sitting pretty. Not sure how it would work with other consoles, dvd players… Read more

etc, but so far I've had no woes.

Plus it's a pretty sleek, shmick looking device. Mine is silver. Good price, runs from usb power

Bad – I bought this because a friend had a smaller one 250 and I spoke to the salesman explaining what I wanted it for he sold me the larger 1T one and I thought great all my movies in one storage place..no it would not work. I took it back to the shop and they exchanged it for the 500 model, still would not work. I emailed the Company Western Digital… Read more

and they were not at all interested. Just said that it was my DVD that had the problem. My complaint was that the salesperson who I spoke to assured me that it would work. While in the store I spoke to some other people who were looking for the same reason as me, to hold movies. Obviously there is a market out there but no one seems to be able to help. A big disappointing, and fruitless exercise. The fact that it has such a large storage facility as I needed to store my many movies to playback on my DVD player to my TV It did not work on my DVD player, I found to my cost that it was too powerful to run through the USB port on my DVD player

Good – I am very happy with my WD Passport, I carry it wherever I go, professional-appearance and it is dependable. I am happy I purchased this product. I have a 1TB model. The 'Passport' is very compact, sleek design, fits easily in your pocket, nice shiny black finish, heaps of storage space for photos, music and everything else. The down-load speed… Read more

is a little slow but still is fine. The cover can get grubby with finger-marks. It is easily cleaned.

The connecting USB cable can fit loosely in some PC ports, but this is not a big problem.
