How To Lose Customers
I have been a loyal Western Union customer for 7 years and for the past 5 years have been sending the same amount of money to the same person to the same bank account every month.
For the past 4 months I have been subjected to about 30 mins of interrogation on the phone while my transaction is on hold. I did another transaction yesterday and yes, on hold again, but now when I try and phone to get the money released I get a robot saying that they have an urgent problem and to call back in 15 minutes. I have been calling back in 15 minutes many,...many times and still there is no one to speak to. My $1800 is stuck in their system, gone from my bank account and I have no idea what is happening to it. I have never experienced such disregard and disrespect as a customer. I have messaged WU on Facebook, but of course, like many times before, there is no reply. Time for me to move on to a better service.
Ask too many personal bank details
Tried to use but they want copes of too much of my personal bank detail and as was using poli and was a small amount of money through someone was scamming me. So they cancelled transfer and said return money in 7 working day that's 2weeks they steal my money for. WU out date never use them again. Say no fees but give crap exchange rate.
Option doesn’t work as described
Bank transfer poli option never worked, I have called them every time and same thing they suggested me: download the app again or try send money from website. I tried both didn’t work, only option works is you have to pay extra $3 credit option
Don't use them they are not transparent
You will be disappointed. They will not deliver money in a day as they say and they will make your nightmare worse. World Remit will show them what customer care is all about, they need to get out of business Western Union has lost it.
When sending money it goes through verification process. You have been sending money before to the same person but this does not guarantee that your transactions will automatically go through.
I registered myself using iOS app. When I reached verification step, it didn’t verify me with Australian driving license or international passport. I called to check and I was told that dob doesn’t match and hence verification is not possible. She said go to your profile and fix the dob. Very strange but there was no option to change that. Shows customer service don’t know about it. Hence after sometime, she deactivated my account and asked me to register again. When I tried doing that it didn’t accept my existing email I’d and hence I don’t want to use this service as I had a poor experience and I ended up using existing service to transfer money which was even costing me much more.
Very disappointing customer care
It’s next to impossible when you need some help from western union... it takes hours to reach them and then they just disconnect your call and say that they can’t hear you .... very disappointing services
Low rate and more fees
I have been using WU money in minutes for over 10 years now as I have no other quick options to send money to my old mother overseas. Money gets there quick but $US30 fees plus $US30 loss in exchange rate is a lot when you transfer a $US1000. It can feed my big family overseas for a week.

I have used the western union many times and but last experience with WU left me bitter experiences. I have raised concern with WU complains department still no answer from them. The case number or complain number 10989697.
Hope somebody will look into this and change their process.
I don't want to be the guy who hates this brand. It is just to give them opportunities to correct their mistakes.
Use online banking: quicker and cheaper.
After completing the most detailed application I have ever seen I transferred money to a friend. However as he did not have the required ID he could not collect the funds. Several emails to WU failed to elicit any response. Eventually I spoke to them and secured a promise to return the funds in the next seven days. Cheaper and easier to use online banking with your own bank.

Once again I'm having problems with Western Union. I have tried three times in one week (different days) to send some money to help with the payment for the nursery homes for both of my parents but every time I got the message " your transfers could not be completed". When I called they apologize for the inconvenience, they explained the issue saying they were doing some work in the system and of course they offer me to go to an office to do the transaction which cost a lot more than the online transfer.I wonder how long it takes to finish the ..."work in the system", especially in a company that relies a lot on the internet to do business. Coincidence that happens at this time of the year when many people is sending money to their relatives? It is unfortunate that WU has practically the monopoly of this kind of service ( at least in this part of the world). December 27th 2017 Update: They have done it Again! I have to send money every moth to help with the fees for the nursing homes for my parents. Western Union has set the option now to pay by credit card (AU$80.92) or use POLI (AU$9.00). Well, I have tried to use POLI for the last couple of months now (and yes my bank is in the list of bank available, i have a screen shot with the list of banks), the first time I have to call my bank to stop the payment because they took the money but I did not receive any tracking number. The second and third time I tried I got the message that the transaction was not successful. Unfortunately, as my father used to say, it is better a known devil that one unknown, this is the only reason I still use Western Union to send money to my family. May be POLI could start sending money directly to the local post office, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people who will welcome the option.
Sending via POST works well, online service is an absolute JOKE!
I used WU a couple times via POST office, and the money was always there in time. It's been varying amounts from only several hundreds of dollars to a couple thousand. No problem there.
I then tried to use the online service to save time... but I ended up wasting more time and getting so frustrated like never before. The only option for me is to keep using the POST office service as that works, but I am looking for a more modern, better alternative.
The website is completely useless in Chrome, many elements won't even render. Used Firefox..., got to register and couldn't verify my identity, tried inputting the information in many ways, shuffled things over and tried different ID to no avail. Then tried to contact the service via a form, typed a quite long email, clicked send after filling the CAPTCHA - just got redirected to the homepage with no confirmation or declination. I have no idea if it was even bloody sent. My overall experience with the website is HORRIBLE. I am not exaggerating, I really hate this website's guts. I read that it used to be better before and it used to work. I never used that one, but, whoever approved this new one probably needs to be fired on the spot!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been using Western Union to send money to help with my mother's nursing home fees in Chile. At the beginning there was no problem and I was very happy with the service. It was a quick and economical bank transfer. Then they decided to "update" their website and the forms required to fill in. A COMPLETE DISASTER!!! First they change the order of the surnames. In Chile we use first name, paternal surname and then maternal surname. Every time I filled in the form the name appearing in the receipt was: first name, maternal surname and then ...paternal surname. As the receiver has to show their ID card, I wonder if this would work. I have complained many times but I doubt very much that these complaints have been passed on to the people who "improved" the program. Recently they have suspended their bank transfer to Chile. You must wonder if it is a problem with their "improved" website. Now I can send only cash, that costs five times more than a bank transfer, and I have to type my sister's maternal surname in the paternal surname box and her paternal surname in the maternal surname box (confusing??) so her name appears in the same order as in her ID card. On top of this, I can not write a complaint in their contact link because I can't see their security code (not visible).
i used to do these transactions for people all the time in my job at a newsagent. a bit scary since i didn't really know what i was doing and neither did any of the other girls, no training at all and speaking to someone with limited english on the other end made it hard when dealing with numbers. so it is scary to me when considering sending my own money, i would try and avoid it if possible. i guess i might have to use it in desperation.

I havent had any problems with them, but I have always sent money and never made any changes or cancellations. I know of friends who have cancelled the money transfer and have still been charged the service fee when they said it would be refunded. Their excuse was that their local time was the next day, so it was charged. I dont mind using them because they are a company I trust especially with regard to money.
I have used them in the past and havent had any problems.
Their service fees are quite high. I think that may be because they are very well known worldwide and they give the money immediately on the other side.

I dont know how long they can block you from sending money, probably as long as they want. I would not use them ever again send your money some other way that way it will stay safe.
Is there legal recourse in Australia for refusing to provide a service without a specific reason?
I dont know about the legal side but I know that a service can be refused by the provider without any reason, meaning you need to seek alternate options. Saying that, I dont believe any business wants to turnaround their customers by doing that

Use XE money transfer or another service, you have read the reviews. so why would you even think about using these PARASITES? They do not deserve your business.
