Great little fridge – I no had a small space to fit a fridge within exisiting kitchen cabinets and there wasn't a lot of choice but I'm very glad I choose this fridge. Freezer is compact but if you take a bit of time to pack it properly you can fit a fair amount in there's. I love the ice tray - which is completely removable to give more space. Deep crisper in the… Read more
fridge and also smaller one underneath one of the shelves whichever is handy for a couple of loose vegetables. Only downside is unless the freezer is up as cold as settings allow, ice cream can become a bit icey rusher than smooth
Great Fridge – Good fridge. After having a little upright 12 volt Engle years living in the bush this is luxury! Got a good deal at the Goodguys off the showroom floor. Only paid $600. Have had it for a year and it's great. Nice and Cold. Its got a great little ice cube tray in the freezer you twist to pop out the ice cubes into a tray. Been very reliable and… Read more
cold! Got glass shelves even. Great value size for 2 people. Any more and I'd buy something bigger. One thing I noticed, the compressor on this fridge seemed the same size as on a 400L. Now I would have thought a bigger fridge needed a bigger compressor. Maybe the bigger fridges have more insulation and don't need the big compressor. Anyway after seeing this I thought the compressor on the small fridge wouldn't be working so hard as on a bigger fridge and thus last longer. lol, Just and observation, maybe someone in the know can shed some light on this. A good honest fridge. 4 stars.
Won't stay cold enough! – The fridge won't stay cold and the freezer doesn't work properly. We turned down the fridge and freezer temperatures and ended up with a frozen lettuce. Food is going off quickly in the fridge and won't freeze properly. Spoke to the service centre and they said that the defrosting is staying on for too long. Really bad fridge! Compact Either too warm or too cold.
Quiet, and efficient – I don't understand why the previous reviewers found it noisy. I've just put one in at my weekender out in the country - where you can hear a pin drop. Maybe Westinghouse have improved their design? Maybe the earlier units were faulty? I'm very pleased with how quiet this fridge is. My bedroom is only about 4m from the fridge. I slept well! is quieter than the F&P fridge that we have in the city. Competitively priced, Australian made, low power. Good layout inside.
Very Noisy – Unless you are very noise tolerant, do not even consider the Westinghouse 280. Westinghouse will tell you the noise is normal from modern compressors and that it meets ASA specs. But other brands - two that I became aware of regrettably after purchase - are so much quieter, wheras the Westinghouse can be heard in the next room. Sadly, this fridge is a negative for Australian manufacturing. Extremely noisy.
Pretty good! – I read the reviews after I'd paid for a 300 litre model and therefore was waiting on delivery with some trepidation, as I live in a small unit & noise would be an issue. I called the manufacturer & was told it is due to the new energy saving compressors and all new fridges have this technology. Happily the noise is not too bad. A slight… Read more
intermittent hum and barely noticable with normal noise, ie tv or stereo. No louder than the microwave or washing machine. Doesn't keep me awake at night. Looking forward to power bill savings.Recommended. Size and energy efficient
Annoying dripping sound – Generally the fridge is ok, is spacious and good for 1 person. However, the fridge has this annoying dripping sound caused by the automatic defrost cycle. This dripping occurs every 15 seconds to 1 minute. As my kitchen and living room is joined in an open plan, the dripping sound is very noticeable and annoying when watching tv or reading a… Read more
book. I phoned Electrolux and was told this is normal. Clean and spacious Dripping sound caused by the automatic defrost cycle.
So far so Good – Bought this Fridge about 2 months ago for $628 delivered. Was talking to the salesman for awhile and he recommended it over a few others. It has a nice clean exterior design, very practical inside shelving in the fridge area and decent enough freezer space for 1 maybe 2 people. I think it's slightly noisier than my previous fridge BUT it doesnt… Read more · 4
sit right next to my bed so it's not an issue. Affordable, practical fridge compartment layout/adjustability,clean design,Australian made, comes with a wine/bottle rack. Only one freezer door shelf, only 2 star power rating
Terrible – Absolute disappointment!!!! Nice looking fridge but Soooo loud and noisy. Previously had 30 year old Westinghouse that was silent. Hate it as upsetting sleep. It's going back. Please don't buy. Aesthetics Loud compressor, small freezer
Bad – Preferred my old fridge, which unfortunately had rusted and come to the end of its life. It was more quiet and had what the above new fridges don't seem to offer anymore. It does what it is designed for quite efficiently. Very noisy compressor, especially on start up. Would prefer two drawer crisper with less depth.
A differing opinion – Just bought the WTM3300WB from Harvey Norman for a good price. Was initially hesitant after reading the two reviews on this site which gave this range pretty low marks. However the guy at Harvey Norman insisted that he has had no problems with this fridge as such and told me that Westinghouse was generally reliable. Have had the fridge a few… Read more
days now and can safely say that while the fridge is noisy, it's generally no louder than any other fridge that I've ever had. The noise happens only when the motor kicks in (the first two hours of initial switch on and from then on whenever it needs to maintain the fridge temperature - which is probably not too often provided if you don't constantly keep opening the door). Otherwise, 90% of the time the fridge is dead silent.
Note for those who need the left-hand side conversion kit (AREX00WA): It's cheaper to order it online than to get it directly from Westinghouse. Westinghouse will charge you $50 ($36 for the kit, $14 postage & handling) where as getting it online is about $39 (your Google mileage may vary). Spacious, special drawers for organising everything, well-thought out, feels good quality The dairy drawers could be a little sturdier, hinges are a bit loose.
