Ripper roasts, beautiful baked goods, stellar steamed stuff! – We bought this from Harvey Norman nearly four years ago and it continues to surprise us. I had not had a convection cooker before so was thrilled that it bakes, roasts and steams amazingly. We initially purchased this when we found ourselves without an oven, but we continue to heavily use it and are often reminding ourselves of the capabilities… Read more

Just like any Crisp & Grill combinational microwave oven - don't be an idiot and use the wrong implements / accessories in the wrong modes - its a sure fire way to destroy it. Read and understand the precautions and exclusions for each mode - as clearly listed in the easy-to-read manual.
Only Good in Parts – Works ok , for a while, we had to replace the machine after it developed several faults under warranty. When I tried to sort out repairs/replacement , the company claimed their machine was no longer available. this changed when I sent them photos of two suppliers offering the model online and that I didn`t want their offered substitute machine… Read more
several hundred dollars cheaper. I wouldn`t trust the company and I certainly would n`t reccommend this model which had to have an engineer out to it three times in the first 18 months. For this price I suggest you look elsewhere and a different manufacturer.
Best Microwave – I bought this microwave from Appliances Online some 2.5 years ago when our oven stopped working. The Crisp & Grill, convection oven and various '6th Sense' modes have meant that I still haven't actually fixed/replaced our oven - no need to as this little beauty does it all. It bakes, roasts and steams better than ever. I love telling everyone… Read more · 1
we make microwave cupcakes and they screw up their faces, not understanding the microwave is also a highly efficient fan-forced oven.

Very pleased – I bought my Whirlpool in May this year and love it. I've used all the components and can't fault any; I keep the guide close to hand for instant reference. The reheat dinner plate gives a nice, hot, moist meal (I had serious doubts about this before I tried it), the rice cooker is really good and steamed vegetables too. The toaster on my old… Read more
convector was less than desirable and while the grill feature takes longer than a bread toaster the results are very even. I've cooked casseroles and have no complaints. The crisp plate is brilliant with pizza and undercooked pan fried crumbed chicken took minutes to finish on the crisp plate and, again, was nice and moist. The recipe book is worth downloading (took mine into Office Choice and had it bound). The only disappointment is roast potato but that is my current learning curve. Haven't tried cakes or biscuits yet but no doubt those will turn out well too. This device delivers.
A huge struggle to get parts!!! – Firstly I am giving this microwave a 1 star due to the fact of trying to obtain spare parts. I like this microwave, but accidentally locked the glass turntable with a cup and the turntable chipped. I have struggled for more than 6 weeks to try and get a new turntable. Still cannot find anybody that can assist with getting this part. Calling… Read more
Whirlpool is a nightmare!!! I don't think it is worth having, if parts are not available. Looks good Cannot find parts
Love it! – I needed to replace an old microwave that died and wasn't sure if the extra $$ to buy a convection microwave would be worth it. My previous microwave was a Sharp Carousel (given to me when it was 20? yrs old) and to be honest I didn't love the convection cooking function. After reading the reviews available (not many) and agonising over it I… Read more
decided to take the plunge and couldn't be happier that I did.
I have a daughter with a food allergy so I cook all the time (ie baking more than once a day most days), and I've found the crisp function in particular to be amazing! I now cook biscuits in about 4 mins and the most amazing gluten free focaccia in 15 mins (the focaccia wouldn't even be possible in the oven, as the crisp tray gets the bottom lovely and crunchy. I make pizzas often and used to pre-bake the bases but no longer need to - the whole pizza is done in about 12 mins. Seriously I love this machine! I was contemplating buying an expensive thermo cooking machine, but am so glad I bought this instead (for about $1500 less!) as it cooks the kind of food my family loves so easily - eg I can make felafels or meat patties without having to stand next to a frypan for ages. Tonight for example we had bacon and egg burgers with roast mushroom, capsicum and eggplant and everything was cooked in the microwave using the crisp function (including the bread rolls).
I've waited several months to post this review as I wasn't sure if my enthusiasm would wear off, but if anything I'm appreciating it more as time goes on and I discover new things to cook in it.
It is worth checking the dimensions of the space the microwave needs to fit into as it's very deep (deeper than the Sharp Carousel which is a beast), and the cookbook it comes with is pathetic, but once you think about what each function does it's fairly easy to adapt recipes and get the hang of it. Fold down door, easy wipe interior, amazing crisp function, dial setting, jet start function, auto steam function Very noisy, microwave function isn't all that powerful
Early days yet, but shows promise – EDIT: July 2020 Beloved Whirlpool crisp n grill died quietly evening 30 July 2020 after 6.5 years of faithful service. Now on the hunt to get a replacement. Yes, choosing a new Whirlpool Crisp n Grill again. The challenge is to find one locally, in Adelaide. It was time to replace my 30(!) year old Sharp Exceller70 convection microwave and I had… Read more · 3
been doing extensive research. The Sharps, Panasonics etc all seemed to have bad reviews and I finally settled on Whirlpool with some trepidation due to Whirlpool's rep for bad customer service. I've had this for 2 days and it's a new learning curve...but so far, so good. Steamed rice in 9 minutes a chicken, carrot & potato Japanese curry in 14 minutes, grilled chess toast in 3 minutes. Drop down door. Quick reference guide. Accessories including crisp pan, baking tray and steamer besides the usual high and low racks. A bit noisy. 24-hr rather than 12-hr clock. Having to remember to press 'stop'.
I wonder now..how did I ever do without it? – I have owned a Whirlpool JT369 for more than a year now but I purposely waited this long before reviewing it so I could give it a thorough appraisal. I am a really uptight buyer. I research for hours on end before committing myself and I really did my homework on this microwave. I read as many reviews as I could find online, and went to Harvey… Read more · 5
Norman on their special sale weekend so I could see it in use. When I saw a cake baked in ten minutes, and a scone loaf in 8, I was sold. Odd really, because I have had three microwaves in my adult life and I only ever used them to heat baby bottles or defrost meat. I thought microwaves were a waste of time and stuck with older cooking methods.
Since buying the Whirlpool JT369SL I rarely use the oven or cook top anymore. Aside from deep frying, there is nothing else this microwave doesn't do, or do well. I cook the bacon and fried eggs in it, without oil and they come out crisp; I do french toast; cakes; defrosting; steaming; heating frozen pastries; roasting meats and vegetables; reheating foods.
I can cook just about anything in it. In summer I don't have to heat up the kitchen. The 6th Sense functions are insanely good at deciding exactly when the food is optimal. The crisping function honestly produces perfectly crisp pastry cooked straight on the tray. I truly cannot rave more highly about it.
On the downside he instruction book left a lot to be desired. I thought there would be loads of recipes but I had to get online and buy a self-published book from a lady in NZ. I am also less than happy with the lack of accessories available in Australia. I can see them online in the UK and US but they won't post to here. Whirlpool gave me a local supplier today but they want almost three times what is being charged in the US and UK. I really need another 32cm crisp plate as the original one is peeling. I may have to use a UK forwarding company to buy it over there and send on to me for a fee. It is the most versatile cooking device I have ever used and I couldn't do without it now. The instruction book left a lot to be desired. I had to buy a self-published book from a lady in NZ. Lack of availability of accessories in Australia and their excessive cost. I was quoted $130 for the 19cm cake tin and $80 for the 32cm crisp pan.
Best Microwave I've Owned – Has done a great job of cooking everything we've tried so far. Lamb roast, pork roast, cookies, apple slice, chicken schnitzel, scones, steamed vegies, pizza, to name a few. Cooking times are about the same as our normal oven. It's nice and large, but it's let down by the tray position for the fan forced (oven) function. It's half way up the… Read more · 3
sides, so you lose half the space. You can't just place the bake tray on the turntable, because that turns while it's baking (I'm not brave enough to try taking the glass turntable out to bake because the manual is very particular about leaving the turntable in at all times, and I don't want to risk busting it).
I was happy to learn that the timer function can work without the microwave actually cooking, so I can use it to time stuff I'm cooking on the stove top. Not sure if this is a common feature now, because it's the first microwave I've bought in about 7 years, but I like it very much! Large. Cooks anything we throw at it. Can use the timer without running the microwave The bake tray position wastes half the space when using fan forced.
Loving it – Bought this as we are empty nesters and I rarely bake these days. My late parents had a microwave/convection oven over 30 years ago and loved it. (My mother did a lot of pastry backing as well in one). It roasted a shoulder of pork last night on microwave/convection and I finished off crackling on convection/grill. Moist meat and crackling… Read more · 2
crunchy! Let it rest while I baked lots of vegies the same way. Could have put around meat during cooking but avoided the fat. Cooked frozen pizza with 6th sense crisp and then grill and it did great. You need time to fiddle and fine tune the cooking processes but I am delighted over all. Versatile. Easy to clean.
Terrible – Used it for 6 weeks without any problems. Then suddenly one morning my daughter was heating a cup of milk when it suddenly caught fire. Luckily I was at home with her to disconnect the appliance immediately as my daughter stood there in disbelief. It would have probably been a bigger disaster if no adults were in the house. Although my reflexes… Read more
worked well at the time I experienced an electrical fire for the first time, and I must say I was in shock for a while. I have returned it as under manufacturers warranty & I am hoping to be refunded the full purchase price. Will update all readers on my experience with Whirlpool customer service centre soon.
Almost started a fire.
