The worst possible service and website ever.
I have had comprehensive insurance for my pet for almost a year with them, whom are underwritten by pet sure.
The website is basic at best, with no mention of your policy number anywhere on the site if and when you can actually login, which you need when dealing with them on the phone or via email.
You will need it because you will be constantly calling and emailing them with login issues.
They advertise vetassist, which by the way is great, if in fact you can login to it. Both the pet portal and vet assist site are seperate with no links to e...
Waste of time/money
My pup has hip dysplasia (was not pre existing) and even with letter from vet stating that it wasnt they refuse to cover her. Appealed and they still say its pre existing even though all her records say not!!
Scam Alert: They lie about the policy start date
I looked at pet insurance by Woolworths, and was happy to find that the policy start date is the same date as when you purchase your insurance.
As I was about to pick up my little kitten from the hospital this afternoon, I went ahead and purchase an annual coverage, only to be told on the PAYMENT CONFIRMATION PAGE that my policy starts at 23:59 on the date of purchase.
Like who does this? Who needs to use their insurance at the last minute of the day??? I called them but they claimed it was disclosed on their website, they lie to you in you...r face. This was not disclosed anywhere on their quote or anywhere that I could see, prior to committing to pay. This should have been disclosed in BOLD up at the front page so people know what they are getting. Naturally I cancelled the policy. Shame on you Woolworths for trying to scam people.
The Worst Possible Cover you can ever get for your pet
They don't cover necessities (being a comprehensive cover). Any disease that they classify as BREADING they won't cover. Any Holiday Accommodation is not covered. If you want to cancel and they've already paid you once for a regular per visit or vaccine, they will force you to pay the full year.
Run away from it, it's not worth paying the premium
Love your money but nothing in return
My experience seems to reflect that of many on this review site. Everything is either pre-existing or things that are normal preventative things that are not covered. Since when was cleaning a dog's teeth normal? Sure, I can understand how vaccinations are normal preventative but seriously I wonder what has to be the problem for insurance to cover the outlays.
Lousy value for money without doubt and I am cancelling and would not give them any stars if allowed

Very poor service
Got a 10 week old puppy and they don’t want to pay anything but happy to take your money they say pre existing condition a load of crap never again what’s the point in having insurance when they won’t pay out anything my poor little boy needs to have eye removed now and do you think they care no all they care about is lining their own pockets with money and we are stuck having to pay it all ourselves was talking to someone from pet insurance called [name removed] and they don’t care and don’t want to pay out I don’t recommend going with them as...they have no heart or soul this was an emergency and they don’t want to pay out just want to take your money will be cancelling our policy and won’t have anything to do with Woolworths ever again including shopping greedy company
In a nutshell, not value for money, and very poor communication.
I have had insurance for 2 dogs from puppy-hood to just over 2 years of age. I have one healthy dog and another dog with gut issues (colitis) that took some time for the vet to sort out in the first year. In the second year they hiked up the premium by around $400 for each dog. The premiums for the healthy dog and the dog that had some gut issues in puppy hood were the same in year 2. So, a total of $1800 annually for 2 small dogs.
Although they insist they sent renewal reminde...rs for both my dogs when the annual premium was due, I did not receive any reminders. (Unfortunately I did not diary note the annual renewal date so I missed out on cancelling.) Also, it turns out that there a lot of little items that the comprehensive insurance doesn't cover. Of course, they have covered themselves in the fine print, and these gripes apparantly are just a part of pet insurance. Additionally, I have found their communications to be very poor. Their answers to queries by email appear to be generic and they rarely answer the query. I have found their communication to be abrupt and in some instances, quite rude. It seems that pet insurance can be dodgy and fraught with problems generally (ref Choice magazine). I will be cancelling just before the current annual premium ends.
Dreadful Customer service!
Cancelled my policy but still continued to take money out of my account and refused to reimburse. Complete lack of understanding by their customer service officer . Would not recommend at all!
Don’t buy this policy if you want peace of mind.
At puppy’s first check up she had slight yeast infection. Woolworths wouldn’t pay but also refusing ANY ear treatments for next 18 months! I had the policy from the first day I could at 8 weeks. I had no knowledge of any illness and her ears have since been re checked and cleared of any infection and yet they refuse to cover anything ear related! So puppies cannot be covered for illness at all in the first month of their lives by insurance and if they are sick Woolworths insurance will hold it against them for the next 18 months, at which poin...t they will review it and may or may not choose to cover it moving forward. So much for honesty, transparency or peace of mind. 100% regret going with this company, and would recommend you avoid at all costs! (Literally)
We took out comprehensive pet insurance (with $0 excess) when our rescue pup joined our family at 8 months. Over the years we only really needed it for the occasional vet visit and routine check up benefits, which can be frustrating when the policy increases annually and you're not using it to its full potential - Fast forward 9 years and Benign Lipomas appeared and then intervertebral disc disease which eventually resulted in euthanasia. Woolworths honoured every claim over the course of our policy efficiently and without question, and showed sympathy and compassion at the loss of our beloved family member. We cannot rate them highly enough from our experience .
Absolutely atrocious rip off merchants
Absolutely atrocious, they kept making new claims for the same medical condition on follow up visits for the same condition so I would need to pay extra excesses. Said they are part of the no gap program with Greencross but they hadn't implemented it yet, even though they advertised it. Not worth the price, changed to Pet INsurance Australia, half the price.
Twice in the last two months our Golden Retriever has had an operation and has since sadly passed away. We have had the policy 5 years. Claiming costs was extremely easy and very prompt. Payments were made in under a week with very clear settlement details. All our dealings with Woolworths Pet Insurance have been more than excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Pet insurance top quartile service
Recent and ongoing service very high. Portal an excellent tool portal is easy to use allows tracking of correspondence I highly recommend Woolworths pet insurance our experience has been positive
Easy claim, easy to use web portal!
The web portal made it very easy to lodge my claim. The service was okay, quick and easy. Though claiming routine checks were easy. Claiming for accident is quite a struggle since it asked my VET back and fort for documents and verification.
Don’t waste your money
Woolworths Pet Insurance ended up being a nightmare to deal with. Their communication is terrible and they only pay out on a very small amount of issues. I cancelled my policy due to being dissatisfied and I was still required to pay monthly instalments after this as I had made claims within the last 12 months OR I was provided the option to pay back the money that was paid out from claims. I paid them almost $1000 in the year to cover my dog and received $445 in claims. Got less than half my money back yet they wanted me to pay it back for cancelling. No insurance company I have ever used has been this bad. Wasted my money!
Absolutely terrible insurance
No benefits paid/unable to claim any money back from them. Absolutely terrible insurance. I never received any benefit from using them. Absolute waste of money! Not worth your money. Chose another pet insurance.
On their website .... We'll beat any comparable quote .... Price beat.
My policy was due for renewal but was increased by 17% so I shopped around and found a cheaper one with the same sum insured, benefits and nil excess. So I contacted WOOLIES and asked for a PRICE BEAT.
They didn't ask for any details to compare quotes and the reply from Customer Service was the following...
""Kindly take note that you also have to factor in the inclusive benefits of your policy, which is why we do not literally do a price match with competitor brands. What we mean by “We’ll beat any comparable quote” is the value that we offer...for the benefits included on our policy. If you are interested to lower down your premium on the renewal of your policy, you always have an option to change your level of cover Yours sincerely, [name removed] Customer Service Officer. Guess my english is not good enough to understand .... "PRICE BEAT". and I so advise.
Couldn’t of been happier with the service having been with Woolworths for 6 years my dog Layla spent 4 nights in an emergency vets over Easter with a very expensive bill. I was so relieved Woolworths covered the 80 percent as promised and were prompt with the payment .
Amazing service and coverage
Had insurance for my 10 month old puppy for 3 months when we discovered he had severe hip dysplasia and degenerative arthritis.
They have been exceptional. Covered his initial xrays, medication, consultation etc (80%), and have pre authorised his surgeries, the first of which is this week.
Best insurance I’ve ever taken out. Was expecting them to argue any claims etc but the complete opposite. I’m so happy and surprised.
AVOID AVOID AVOID unless you like being ripped off!
I've Been with Woollies pet insurance for many years - thought it was reasonable. Never really claimed much over the years. I Just received my annual premium increase - 25% more! Yup! 25% more.
How they try and justify this 25% increase is a joke.
Nice try at ripping off your long standing customers woollies pet insurance!
