First point of call is to reject claims without proper review & re-evaluation when supporting documentation is provided
When Woolworths Insurance and Hollard receive a claim, they will in the first instance reject it. When you provide vetinary documentation to prove them wrong, and they realise you aren’t giving up they will then try and dig up alternative old cases and find completely new reasons to reject your claims.
These ones being unrelated which they will lose when I go to the ombudsman. DO NOT trust this company with your pets’ health. They will do anything to do the wrong thing by their customers, rejection of any claim is their first point of call b...ecause their interests are profits in screwing over the little guys. They do not look into cases with care, diligence or consideration and their documented responses are flippant, vague and inconclusive, trying to provide you with as little detail as possible as to the reasons to make it difficult to prove your claim. They have also decided to apparently rewrite Medical and Vetinary books going against what vetinary surgeons provide you as support for "Pre existing conditions".
Try to get out of paying
What a disappointment. I moved over to Woolworths and all they seem to do is delay and try to avoid making any type of payments. Don't touch these guys with a 10 foot pole and I am so sorry I changed!
Excessive premiums and excess
My premium started out good but escalated quite rapidly heat policy renewal period. It ended up being $100 per month, $100 excess each different claim and $100 even if that claims been done before, each policy. Money in their pocket money in their pocket money in their pocket. They're just as bad as all the other insurance companies. Take take take. not to mention the fact that if you upgrade to take the excess away that doesn't mean the excess of removed from previous claims. They will still incur the same hundred-dollar excess. Additionally i...f you leave all the pre-existing issues will be voided from most other insurance companies. They really get you by the balls and try and milk every dollar out of everyone. If that's not bad enough. I paid for my first month or two of the new policy period but made a claim. Was paid for that claim. But when I went to cancel my policy they said that they would take that payment back. they won't give me my 2 months of premium paid, but they will take the payment they made back. Go figure. More take take take. I've since cancelled and an going with greencross.

Actually very surprised... well done Woollies!
I first got the policy very apprehensively as you hear the all stories about pet insurance in general, but my dog was getting older so I thought I should get some cover. Haven't needed it for a couple of years, until a few months ago when she developed an eye abnormality which led to eventual eye removal. I have to say, Woolworths have been nothing short of fantastic throughout the entire process. Informative & genuinely wanting to help on phone calls, pre-authorising claims in the space of hours & rapid responses to claim submissions including...2 day payment turnarounds of over $2500 in total over the course of the condition vet bills. I'm really impressed & it's been quite a surprise as I was expecting all kinds of pushback & delays - there was nothing of the sort. Quite the opposite in fact. I would guess that the ones writing the bad reviews on here probably haven't read or fully understood their policy T&Cs, which is absolutely imperative. My advice to those getting new cover would be; if in doubt, always call & ask them a million questions on your cover so you can manage your expectations & make sure you know exactly what will be covered & what will not. Thanks again Woollies!
Worth every cent when you suddenly need it urgently!
When my beloved boy Bear was struck with pancreatitis, the Vet and Animal Hospital bills started getting pretty serious but WW Pet Insce saved the day! Top service and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to protect their pet(s). Don’t leave home without it!
My dog was attacked on Sunday afternoon by another dog in our neighbourhood which resulted in emergency after hours vet visit .
Cost me close to $2,000 for a overnight stay and operation on her leg
Woolworths pet insurance paid out less that 3 days later money straight back into my bank !!
I called on Monday to see if I would be covered for a pet attack , the lady on the phone was very very helpful
Can not recommend them enough !
Woolworths pet insurance operate like the mafia extorting money from pet owners but not deliver on the product when a claim is made. My dog got bitten by a bee and the insurance never got back to me after I lodged my claim. I had to call them several times for them to look into it. They initially claimed that they only covered insects bites but not stings hence they would not cover my claim. When asked what type of Australian insects bite but not sting, the agent could not provide an answer. I eventually had to threaten them with actions and th...en they accepted to process the claim. After 1 year I noticed that my premium had automatically increased by over 30%. I was not even consulted for the rise but they just felt that they had the power to dig into my pocket since they had access to my credit card. Very cheap and canniving people. Now I am trying to get out of this horrible insurance and they have intentionally made sure that such info is not easily found on their website or not even available. I beg anyone who love their dogs out there not to waste money on such insurers. Not worth additional stress when you really need them.
Perfect pet insurance
I have had my pet insurance with Woolworths for the past 4 years,I felt the policy was right for me and my dog,I had a problem using the portal so rang them direct .they were very helpful with helping me lodge my claim ,there fore taught me how to lodge on line .my claims were dealt with pretty quick, without me having to do much at all..highly recommend Woolworths pet insurance to anyone looking to get their pet insurance .
Not worth the money. Cheaper , but as always, you get what you pay for.
Have always been with this company and this was the first claim for my 11 year old dog.The claim was relatively small but returned very little.
Company has right of deductions but also states in their own Product Services Guide that details will be provided how the claim has been dealt with.
Apart of being very slow, there was, in spite of two requests, no explanation provided why items were deducted. This apparent refusal does not feel right and the only reply I got fr...
We got Woolworths cover for our greyhound (ex-racer rescue). We had the cover from when he was around 7. Recently he became unwell and we were at the vet almost every day for a month, including lots of expensive trips to specialists. His diagnosis changed several times until finally, sadly, it was found that he had a brain tumour. We had no problems with Woolworths paying out 80% of all our bills, including his home euthanasia. Highly recommend and surprised to see all these negative reviews.
Worst insurance there is
Please I beg you at all cost do not go with these money hungry, conniving, slimy pieces of crap as an insurer. They are cheap and there is a reason! They will do anything to get out of paying!!! They declined my claim and it was only small but they find any way to get out of it. If you love your pet please go with ANYONE else.
Avoid at all cost!!!!!!!
Extremely disappointed, angry and sad!!! We’ve been with them for 5 years, have 2 comprehensive policies for our 2 dogs, paying in total around $150 every month, first time tried to claim about a month ago, still waiting for an outcome (almost 1 month), no one is following up, we’ve rung Woolworths about 6 times and still no outcome, we asked to cancel our policies because we do not want to be with them anymore, but the consultant said they’ll put our policies on hold until they resolve our claim, but only 1 policy was put on hold, so we still ...had to pay the other policy (against our wishes) and now last night our “hold policy” payment went through. And to top it all off, after paying $150/month for 5 years, it looks like we will only get back $106 of a $339 Vet bill, plus still had to pay our $150/month policy (which we wanted to cancel 2 weeks ago) because this claim is taking so long to finalise!!! Please avoid!!!!
What a waste of money!
I opted for a comprehensive policy as I had a new puppy and knew that I would need cover for his vaccinations and Desexing. I applied online, the process was vague, there wasn't any info about the threshold of cover and amount of cover i was entitled to for certain 'benefits' I added to my policy. I opted for a consultation benefit, with the cover amount being $300. I have only managed to successfully claim for $50, I'm paying $51 per month! In total I've paid almost $900 for various vaccinations and desexing and got $50 off, what a HUGE WASTE of money.
Best thing I ever did for my beloved dog
I took out Woolworths Pet Insurance for my Aussie Terrier when he was 6 years old. Over the course of his life I made a few claims (more when he got older). In all the cases where I could claim (according to my policy) Woolworths paid out the 80% (minus the $100 excess). Over the years Woolworths have made the claiming process a lot easier and the money goes into your bank account within a couple of weeks (although sometimes it can take longer).
A month ago my beloved dog was diagnosed with cancer (he was 12 years old). We made the decision...
Paid promptly and great phone service
I have 2 17 year old cats. I took out Pet insurance months prior to one of my cats becoming very ill. I was paid in a couple of weeks of putting in claims. Very happy with this insurance.
Waste of money! Woolworths will do anything to avoid paying out! I made 4 claims with one as low as $29. All declined. All with pathetic reasons why declined. Stay right away and seek other insurance companies!
Way too long to process claim
I have put two claims in and have been made to jump through hoops just for them to be processed. Too much paperwork required and not enough feedback on my claims. It has been nearly a month since I lodged my first claim. I did not think it would be this hard. If you have adopted a pet be prepared to be put through the ringer making a claim! Thinking about changing to another insurer who won't make me feel like I am a criminal.
SCAM - RIP OFF
All claims refused without exception. This is a scam. We have now cancelled this worthless policy. This is useless and a complete waste of money. It is just a rip off. A scam to get money from unsuspecting people. This company does not pay claims.
Fast and efficient
I find this insurance company great. I have put in claims and had them paid out within a week! They even sent me a sympathy card when I had to have my cat put to sleep. I certainly feel the insurance is worthwhile, my animals are too precious not to have insurance and these guys have been great.
TERRIBLE pet insurance company! Quite expensive fortnightly payments. All nice when you join up.. Then they are HORRIBLE to deal with, they lie and just give you the run around. BEWARE!!!!!
