Woombie=SLEEP (for both bub and mum)!!!
A friend from the States recommended Woombie to me and boy am I glad I listened. Traditional swaddling was just not cutting it for me. I love how you can get convertible and summer ones too. Nice cover for the zipper too. I've purchased:
I loved all of above except for Houdini. My boy didn't need Houdini and it was waaaay too tight to fit him in it. My 20 week son is currently using Summer Woombie and it's awesome. Perfect for our Australian summers. I'd say it's .5 to...g or lighter! I wish they have convertible summer ones! That way i can ease my son into using sleep bags. He loves suckling on his hands and binky and this kills two birds with one stone. A) he's not slobbering all over his hands/outfit B) he never "drops" his binky!
The idea is a really good one, and if possible you should source a similar better quality product. I believe there are lots of them out there. I was very disappointed, but maybe others will have better luck. Purchase at your own risk though.
The concept is a good one, that's about it.
Didn't like the quality. Like many others, I had issues with various parts being defective. The quality does not match the high price. My son could also escape his arms out of it. I also have a strong dislike for the velcro at the neck because it is so close to the baby's face. The ripping of it to open the suit startles the baby awake, and my son was very hard to settle once this happened, as it probably scared him half to death.
Fabulous simple idea
I love the Woombie and cannot thank the designers enough. It worked wonders for our baby girl. She hated being tightly wrapped but every time she startled she would wake up so we were faced with a difficult situation. Since using the Woombie from 1.5 months old, she always has good day naps and sleeps 12 hours per night with a quick feed half way through the night. I find she wriggles out of other wraps and gets very unsettled if we take too long to wrap her, so the Woombie is perfect. We have had it for 2.5 months and it is still in good condi...tion, although looking a little worn now because it is used for all sleeps. Nice soft stretchy fabric, quick and easy to wrap baby, great for hot or cool nights, easy to wash and dry Its a real pain when we have to use other wraps while waiting for this one to dry on the line and they are too expensive to buy two, especially because babies grow out of things so quick.
This product has got to be the best Swaddle on the market at the moment. We had a very tiny girl who was somehow able to get out of every wrap until the Woombie came along. It has made our lives so much easier as now she doesn't wake herself up and sleeps through the nights. The material is of the highest quality, along with the zip and velcro and the colours are nice. I am so glad that people still make such good quality products and keep them at affordable prices. I just wish I had know about them earlier and not bought all those wraps!
Great reliable product
This the best baby product we have used for our baby. He loves it. A friend lent us the newborn one (regular woombie) and since then we have bought two in big baby (a deluxe and a summer) and two in mega baby (convertible). He sleeps so well and they are so easy to use.
Baby loves it and sleeps really well in it. As soon as he is zipped up he knows it's bedtime. Good quality fabric and fasteners (we've had the snap kind and a press stud). Baby is secure but can still move around quite a lot because the fabric is nice and stretchy. So much easie...
We tried several products and ways of wrapping him and he really slept the best in the woombie. Didn't have any problems with the quality of it and washing it, etc.
We bought the organic one which zips both up and down. Our son really slept well in it from the start, and we've only stopped using it as he started getting too big for the one we had and we got given a bigger size Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe. Otherwise we would've bought another one of these. He's a bit of a mini-Houdini and he never never wriggled out of this though he managed to do it with other wraps.
the velcro tab at the neck was hard to close as he got bigger. he started having it in his mouth. Also this is a bit pricey.
The "original" Woombie with the press stud is excellent. We have one and our daughter loved it. We washed it in a delicates bag with the regular washing and it still looks good. The "new" Woombie has in my opinion a fatal flaw. The new woombie uses Velcro under the chin. Unless it is perfectly sized and attached (on a wriggling baby) it will scratch their chin. The irritation caused our our daughter to shake her head exasperating the problem and after a few hours sleep drawing blood. We moved to other brands that don't have this problem.
Comfortable, soft, comforting.
Cut my daughters chin.
I found that the customer service was fantastic, the lady on the phone helped me buy the correct size and fabric to best suit my baby and I received my Woombie the next day. So I have had a really positive experience and recommend them to everyone who is having a baby.
I really love this product! My baby slept through from the day we got it, she couldn't get out of it and didn't wack herself in the face but she could still suck her fists through the fabric - which was definately a plus when her dummy fell out in the middle of the night. I have...
Waist of money, I wish I never bought it. At least I can share my experiences here and warn others. Everyone has different thoughts.
I have tried all 3 zip up swaddles styles and woombie is definitely the worst in quality.
It fell apart. I think some people have had good experiences with them, but i didnt.
Expensive and a complete waste of money. I purchased this woombie for $40 and it literally fell apart in a short amount of time. Poor customer service added to my bad experience.
No positives with the woombie.
Cheap and nasty fabric causes damage within a few wears and washes.
I would suggest this to any new mum, It gave me some sleep and made my baby much happier. Overall this is a great invention and gave me piece of mind that my little girl was warm and secure. Worth every cent for piece of mind.
My Daughter would not sleep through the night, she startled easily and would wake constantly, this stopped her from that scare factor and she slept for 4-6 hrs each night, I found the customer service to be really good and the shipping very quick.
I have now bought 4 Woombies, i have found some batches better than others,...
The woombie without a doubt is the best baby product i have purchased. I have recommended it to all of my friends in my mothers group. Do not waste your time wrapping baby the traditional way as the woombie will keep your baby feeling so much more secure from birth ie like the womb and so keep your baby sleeping for longer periods of time without baby waking itself up with the startle reflex.
Keeps baby warm, secure and makes baby feel like it is still inside you tucked up in your womb. Material is not too stretchy like the ergo baby and fits b...
I love it. My baby went from sleeping 4 hours at a time to sleeping 10-12 hours overnight as soon as I put him in the woombie. I bought mine second hand but it definitely would have been worth the price new. He even now actually sleeps for longer than 20 mins at a time during the day, he never did that before! I am so glad I bought this and will definitely get the next size up once he's outgrown the current one.
Bub now sleeps through the night, can't escape from it, double zipper means I can just zip from the bottom to do nappy changes and don't have to completely unwrap him.
Nothing so far.
Overall this is a great idea. I tried every other wrapping style and size and this is the only one that has worked. It took my son quite a few days to get used to it but now he loves it. I think the woombie is definetly worth trying if your baby is a houdini. I started off with the big baby and now my 7 month old sleeps snuggly in the mega baby.
Very easy to use (even my husband can use it), baby can't get his arms out, can use it in all weather conditions.
Little pricey for the quality. The neckline on one of my woombies was to wide and my son could still get his hand out, after adding an extra press stud myself it is now effective.
After using and the thoroughly enjoying the 'Woombie Deluxe' for our newborn, we decided to try the 'Organic Woombie' once he needed the next size up. These Woombies are different as they are made of organic undyed cotton, have a 2-way zip (excellent feature), velcro rather than snap closure, and wider neck. Unfortunately the velcro closure and wider neck mean that our 3 month old can get his hands out very easily and into uncomfortable positions around his face, waking himself up during the night constantly- even if we put a wrap over the top....I would not recommend the Organic Woombie unless they change these two features. Quick and easy way to swaddle baby, two way zip makes night-time changes easy, comfortable for the baby. Price (a little high for the quality), the velcro closure, and the wide neck.
Not very happy with the quality of the product at the cost of $40 each. I have now purchased a Love Me Baby and an Ergococoon and found these to be much better products in regard to quality. Both have a duel zip for easy nappy change and ease for putting in the car seat. Ergococoon is also $10 cheaper than the Woombie and is made of beautiful soft organic material. Both of these suits also don't have the press stud up the top, so you won't have a problem with this design fault as the Woombie does.
Didn't get the chance to like anything, bot...
I thought this product was great when I used it on my First Baby, but I just bought the New Original Version because it has a two way Zipper and found it is also longer than the ones I already have, which is an added bonus as this bub is my tallest...the Quality in this new design is Great!
Now I have used it on two out of three of my bubs and it is still my Best Baby Buy Ever!
I recommend it to every-one!
Easy to Use, Great Value for Money because it Works!
Not as stretchy as other similar products.
I have used a lot of wraps over the years and this is my favourite.
None now that they have a Two Way Zipper!
Good idea but I don't feel I got value for money. I would not buy another one unless they dramatically improve the quality. I am now going to purchase another similar suit in a different brand because I do like the idea, and hope that it lasts longer than the woombie did.
I liked the fact that this suit is an easy way to swaddle my baby.
The suit broke. First went the zipper, which snapped off. Then it tore near the closure stud. It is now used as a dusting rag (a very expensive dusting rag!)
Great idea, mediocre quality. I would prefer to purchase Australian made products due to the great quality. Baby Love "Wrap me up" is a much better quality product, that also allows baby to sleep on their tummy and also gives them access to put their hands near their face, which babies love.
Easy wrap to swaddle baby at night time. Soft fabric.
Press studs cause rips, therefore you won't get much wear out of it before it has a hole near the press stud. A lot of money for a product that won't last the distance.
This is a fantastic product and I would recommend it to anyone having a baby. It is my new baby gift to any friends having a baby b/c of the likelyhood of giving the mum a better night sleep and isnt that what we all want it those first few month. My baby is still in hers at 4 months and my friends has her son in his at 6 months.
This was the best gift I was given for my newborn. As a mother of four I was an excellent baby wrapper and could wrap them up very tight....the woombie however is brilliant, it allows the baby to stretch and move i...
Questions & Answers
Can babies get there hands up near mouth or cheeks? Or are arms secure down on chest or sides
Sometimes they can wiggle enough to get their fingers out when they are a bit older but in general, if you have the right size swaddle for the baby then they won't get their hands out & their arms are secure either at their sides or on their chest (where-ever you put them).
How to transit from swaddle to arms out?
My daughter was a compete swaddle addict so we couldn't just go cold turkey and take her arms out of the woombie. We ended up using another product called the Zipadeezip to transition which worked a treat.
